Mondi Schiefe Alm Gastein in Bad Gastein

Amazing food and great atmosphere. Really a great experience. Loved the fire place in the middle of the restaurant creating a unique and cozy environment. We had both cheese and meat fondue along with the amazing schnitzel..all of them were great!

We stay for two nights at the MONDI Schiefe Alm (situated just above the MONDI Bellevue Alm). We had a ground floor apartment, with an outside seating and a small kitchen area (you need to provide all tea, coffee, milk etc). The building is very old and full of character. In the basement there is a ski storage and a with sauna and relaxation room. If you want to use the sauna you may need to go and switch it on 30 minutes before use. Excellent breakfast was served in the Bellevue Alm; we really liked the juicer (one apple and two carrots make an excellent drink) and also the honeycomb. The evening food was also very good – very generous portions for the fondu (but this needs to be booked a day in advance). From the hotel there are some good walks. Nice outside area around the two Alm’s; but was a bit quiet during the summer. There is a natural outside swimming pool, but this was very cold (but we had already switched on the sauna and headed straight there afterward to warm up!). Every Thursday evening during the summer there is a pig roast – next time we will try and stay over that night. N.B. In winter this accommodation is only reachable via single person chair lift between the hours of 10:00 to 16:30 and 18:00 to 24:00.

Really amazing! Third time here. The staff is top notch. The food was utterly unbelievable! We cannot wait to return for another trip!
