Villa Excelsior Hotel & Kurhaus in Bad Gastein

We enjoyed very mich our stay at this hotel. It is very special. The staff is very friendly, helpful and always smiling, takes time for any guest, regardless if it’s the receptionist or the weiter. The rooms are nice, but can be better cleaned (especially on the selling). Some things are quite old and broken, for eg the blanket. However the whole hotel has a vintage touch. It’s very nice decorated for the ones that appreciate this style. But, if you’re looking for something modern, this is not your place. The food is great, both at breakfast and dinner. They offer a free shuttle to go to the slopes in winter. There are spa facilities and sauna for free and there’s even a small church inside the hotel.

We came here for the second time, and I am pretty sure that we will be back. Everything was nearly perfect. The service, the food, the cleanliness. There is a small bus, that gets you to the slopes. Many thanks to Christophe and the team!

Our stay at this hotel in Bad Gastein was truly unforgettable. From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcome — and that is largely thanks to the owner, Christof. He is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and approachable, always wearing a sincere smile and bringing a wonderful sense of humor. You can clearly see that he runs his hotel with heart and soul. His wife also deserves the highest praise. She is an outstanding cook. Both breakfast and dinner were consistently of exceptional quality, served in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Every meal was something to look forward to. At the bar, we were always warmly welcomed by Eric, who performs his job with great enthusiasm and flair. He is not only an excellent barman but also a very pleasant conversational partner who truly adds to the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere of the hotel. During breakfast and dinner, Saskia and Django took care of the service in a consistently hospitable and easygoing manner. Every single day, we felt sincerely welcome — nothing was ever too much to ask. The hotel itself is a true gem. The interior is incomparable to other hotels and gives the entire place a unique, almost timeless dimension. Staying here feels like stepping into a world without worries. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was impeccable, thanks to the dedicated staff and their remarkable attention to detail. The location completes the picture: the breathtaking view over Bad Gastein invites you to dream away and creates that genuine holiday feeling. Our next vacation here is already booked — which really says it all. Once again, our heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation for this unforgettable holiday experience.

Royal class hospitality and service at a wonderful location in Bad Gastein. Christof and Johanna are excellent hosts, and together with there nice & friendly team they make you feel at home from the first entry at their very nice traditional restored, refurbished and decorated hotel. Very richfull & tasty breakfast and diner all served at the table on classic silverware. Cozy hotelbar in family atmosphere. Own shuttleservice to and from the central ski station in Bad Gastein makes your holiday even more perfect for skilovers.

Fantastic stay. Hosts were very friendly and food, location and rooms were terrific. We enjoyed a bath in the therapeutic baths and an afternoon by the pool. Very comfortable stay. Would love to return.

Unique building on the slopes of Bad Gastein, with magnificent views straight from our balcony. Pool, sauna, and good breakfast. Cozy beds after a hike to Graukogel. Staff was super.

This jugend hotel has a lot of personality and is truly charming. If you like the idea about traveling back in time and living in a place where Sigmund Freud spent his summers,this is the place to be. Staff is amazing and so is the food. There is sauna, thermal bath (for a fee) and free transport to the ski station. Don’t miss the gaming salon with the 20’s bar.

The Villa Excelsior is a marvellous, rather eccentric relic of a bygone era. It is elegant, quirky and redolent of history. You can take the cure where Freud took it and enjoy walks back in time to the Baden Baden or Vichy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. At the same time, the food and service are superb. Christoph runs a very tight ship and he and his staff cannot do enough. Almost every guest we met had been coming back for years, if not decades and I believe we will follow their example!

An absolute gem. If you like charming old fashoined style and impeccable service this is the place for you. Went for my birthday and it was fabulous. The rooms are spacious and very quiet and the breakfasts and dinner options are excellent. There is a regular mini bus service to the lifts and to the railway station. We will definititely be booking to stay again sometime if Christof can put up with us again :)

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. While the hotel is located a bit further from the train station, the convenient transfer service provided by the hotel made it incredibly easy to get to and from, eliminating any inconvenience.
The hotel itself is exceptionally stylish and beautiful. My room was spacious, impeccably clean, and offered stunning views of the mountains. Housekeeping was excellent, with daily cleaning and towel changes. The staff were absolutely fantastic – friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist.
I opted for the half-board option, which included breakfast and dinner served à la carte. Dinners were a highlight, with a varied menu and delicious desserts. While breakfast wasn't as diverse, the staff were incredibly accommodating and always offered my child options not listed on the menu. This was a really thoughtful touch.
One of the standout features of the hotel was the sauna complex, which included an infrared sauna, a Finnish sauna, and a bio sauna. It was a perfect way to relax after a day of exploring. The room was always comfortably warm, which was much appreciated. The hotel also provided complimentary sledges for my child, as well as a cot in the room.
The hotel also offered comfortable communal areas where guests could relax, play games, or read. The building itself is in a classic style but is very well maintained, giving it a charming and elegant atmosphere.
