Tarsis Club & Aquapark in Sunny Beach

We visited this hotel at the end of June for 2 weeks holiday. We’ve been to Bulgaria before and loved it- opted for this hotel this time because of the water slides (son aged 10) First impressions gave us the ick instantly hotel didn’t look as good as photos - but were frequent travellers so wasn’t put off at this and know that a holiday is what you make it. When checking in process was fairly easy. Getting into our room not so much- it was unclear from the card we were given what room we were actually in and after trying the various different room numbers written on the cardboard (yes there was multiple) it was back to reception to get some help. Someone from reception came - he too didn’t seem to know which room we were in - but on the third door success and we got in. Rooms were the biggest positive for us- it was an apartment style so our son was set up in the living room / sofa bed and we had the bedroom. Lots of storage for unpacking and having the suitcases stored away. We also had 2 balconies. The room had a washing machine - a first for us on holiday - meant I came home with literally no laundry as everything got washed and dried in the Bulgarian sun! The pools are great / slides perfect for kids, plenty of loungers (although some more comfortable that others) - and the animation team great. My son did hurt himself one day resulting in his leg pouring with blood from a cut- getting help with this was almost impossible. No sense of urgency and the staff were not trained in first aid. I had to hurry someone to look for a first aid kit (I had to guess where it may be stored) and then I had to take over and actually clean up my kid / the blood / and bandage. The staff member just walked away. That was definitely a concern - particularly if there was a more significant accident as I was not confident this would be handled well. Food like most have said was not great. We are good eaters and will try most things however we ate out 8 of our 14 nights. Like many who book this hotel we go all inclusive to take the element of trying to find somewhere to eat every night out and we pay extra for this - so having to spend money on eating out was not accounted for. However thankfully I will say that pricing is fair everywhere we went and we didn’t have a single bad meal out. This made the hotel all the more frustrating as if all the restaurants were eating at was getting it right we couldn’t understand how the hotel was getting it so wrong! We were served raw chicken twice - and I’m talking large complete raw chunks. We flagged it and they continued to serve it to people! (The pool was significantly quieter the next day) like other mentioned there was no refilling of trays either - almost a once it’s gone it’s gone. This made dining feel like the hunger games every man for themselves! This included securing things like plates and cutlery! Drinks were ok- sometimes flat and odd tasting but for the most part they were fine. It was frustratin
