Our holiday in Bulgaria at the Hotel Royal Castle Design & SPA in ELENITE BULGARIA was a complete disaster. 10 days of a dirty non filtered pool, with a Rat found dead in it on day 6 was not my idea of relaxing! There were other numerous issues raised with the hotel as love holidays suggested on day 3! But there was very little change. Then when we got home, they said we had to re submit or complaint to the aftercare team. Who thought at first compensation of 170 odd as a total to be split between 7 people was enough. It was then revised to 500 odd between 7! This is a joke! I work hard all year for 1 abroad holiday for my family and can't even get in the pool! Undercooked food, staff not washing hands, broken sunbeds, paint peeling in the pool, ants everywhere around the pool as it was never cleaned down. Stagnant water in the filtration parts around the pool, broken chipped tiles everywhere. Someone cut there foot. Ants in the rooms. No entertainment, no spa treatments available, drink were generally warm. The toast was falling apart, the had no butter for rolls ir toast for 8 days of the holiday. Expected me to have toast with cream cheese and jam?? The staff didnt have a clue! The water park thats free to go to is a joke! See pictures, just as dirty! And 1 slide! Room on 6 floor windows open fully, no guard to stop someone falling! Health & safety nightmare all round! It is the worst holiday I've ever had. DO NOT GO to this hotel! Im gutted that Love Holidays said this was an acceptable hotel to put us in. The only plus for this hotel are the beds, they are huge and comfy! Inside is very opulent. But that where it ends.

Inside the hotel was amazing rooms clean food was hit and miss sometimes the pool was filthy no filtration working lights in the pool were loose and just floating the water park attached to the hotel water was also filthy and only 1 old slide working most staff not very helpful ment to be a 5 star hotel we have stayed in better 3 star hotels

I booked the hotel through eSky, which I definitely don't recommend. The offer promised beach service, meaning towels, umbrellas, and loungers. We're a family of six with three children. There's nothing on the beach except sand and a few broken umbrellas. There are no restrooms, and the hotel is 350 meters from the beach. At the reception desk, we were told that the hotel beach used to be there, but it's gone now. We spent two days negotiating with eSky to solve our problem. It's difficult to swim and enjoy the beach at 31 degrees Celsius without a beach shelter. When we finally got an offer to change hotels, we were told we'd have to pay around 20,000 for another hotel, even though it wasn't our fault; the agency didn't honor the agreement. Kiszmar, two days of vacation wasted talking to the agency. The hotel pool is cold and deep, definitely not for children. Overall, a good hotel with large, comfortable rooms. I definitely do not recommend the eSky agency, which does not care about the well-being of its customers, nor the hotel for those who enjoy staying on the beach and swimming.

Myself, my partner and friends booked all inclusive as my friends were getting married in the hotel. We had to ask for toilet roll and fresh towels. Our room wasn’t once checked or changed over the whole time we stayed until we asked. The bar ran out of soft drinks and beer. Now for the worst part… the day of the wedding there was a storm which had all the guests run indoors so those who were all inclusive went to the bar for some drinks and out of nowhere a very very rude manager gave loud attitude to the poor boy behind the bar and told him to stop serving us any drinks and then turned away. The boy wasn’t given a reason and we were absolute furious. This caused a lot of distress and anger for the guests who had paid for all inclusive and apparently the reason was because the “manager” couldn’t tell who was all inclusive even though we had the bands. We couldn’t even as much as get any water. There was no drinks for a long period of time during the storm as they hadn’t brought the drinks from outside to inside. When they did eventually bring some wine inside, they gave us it in plastic cups… at a wedding… The manager refused to speak with us directly even though we chased after him and tried. He just spoke Bulgarian very rudely to his colleagues and left them to deal with it which was horrible to see. Their manager is very rude and you couldn’t pay me to go back there.

Reading the reviews is a little shocking cos this is my second time here and I love this place. Let’s be completely real here people complaining about service and amount of restaurants etc but for the price you pay you get above and beyond what you will get anywhere in Europe. Not to mention the location and mountains and sea all around with clean air and beautiful settings. The rooms are huge . Food I thought was delicious with a ton of options. Is it at the standard of a 5 start in the Maldives , def not but for what you pay you get 5 times more than you would anywhere else. The place is quiet during Sep which is why I love coming here then. It feels like I have it all to myself. So if you are looking for a party resort or busy places don’t come but if you want nature peace and relaxation then this is a brilliant hotel. Cons: yes you may need to ask for the room to be cleaned at times but who cares. Again you pay peanuts vs what you would get elsewhere. So just ask and stop being spoiled brats on here complaining abt stupid stuff. I see the last few negative reviews and those are the same people who made things unpleasant and just wanted to get drunk. This isn’t this type of place. I loved it. Both times I’ve been here . Thank you for having us

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in anywhere I the world. Myself husband and two kids ages 13 and 9 . Don’t be fooled by the pictures online . This so called 5 star hotel has been left to rot. Not one of the staff could speak any English and the whole place is filthy. There’s nothing to do with two kids as the so called water park is closed and looks abandoned. The one pool that was open was dirty and freezing. There is nothing nearby no shops , restaurants or life ! There’s no local buses and the taxi to sunny beach was 40 lev each way and that was one of the cheaper ones . The food was disgusting . Three of us were ill after day three . Nothing for the kids to eat unless they’re ok with chips . My girls hated every minute and internet is non existent as it’s in such a remote place we could only get it at sunny beach . We had to spend so much money on taxis just to see a bit of life and go to the shops in sunny beach but 80 lev a day for taxis took most of our money . We should have read the reviews as it was a nightmare from the moment we got there . Save you money and book anywhere else in Bulgaria . We should of believed the

Well, let's see... There isn't really much good to say about this place. The decor looks neat online, but in person, it looks like an oligarch dropped acid and went on a safari. The service is perhaps the worst I have ever encountered in my life. They need to just tell you what they do have because the list of what they do not have is astoundingly long. The "manager" had no authority to do anything managerial (like turn on the AC) and looked like he woke up with a wicked hangover. We were there for one (1) day before deciding it was a lost cause and moving on. Didn't even spend the night, just bailed out. Other guests were discussing it and I'm sort of with them...this place is not operating to make money from guests. This place operates for other reasons entirely.

READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING - Don't be fooled. All Inclusive Package: This is NOT and All inclusive experience. You get breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet with almost the same food every day at one restaurant. You have access to the bar with soft and alcoholic drinks, coffee. All low quality liquor, and cheap beer. The barkeep told us not to drink the liquor unless you want a headache. You get ice cream, no snaks or food between meals. There are NO child care services like advertised, and there isn't ANY entertainment. Facilities: Suites are nice clean and spacious. Showers and bathrooms are clean. The main building Is nice and clean. The rest of the grounds are in bad shape, not maintained and safety hazards are all around. There's is trash everywhere, I saw a dirty dipper next to the pool sitting there for 4 days. The pools are disgusting! I don't think they use chlorine at all. The water park is disgusting, and only half way working. The Spa is of course, NOT working. The indoor pool has not been cleaned, EVER. Almost nothing is open or working. The mini-golf has been closed for years. The area where the villas are located is a ghost town, with overgrown bushes and no electricity. Bring a flashlight if you plan to walk to the shops or the beach at night. The path is completely dark at night. Customer Service: Folks here are not very friendly or accommodating. No one knows ANYTHING, and give you conflicting information.

Arrived in July 2023, initial impressions of the hotel, was that it was seriously impressive and that opinion only continued when we saw the glorious rooms that we were staying in - unfortunately aside from the salad selection there were no further good points to the hotel. Upon arrival, we went to the bar for oir first drink of the holiday, to be told there was no beer due to a wedding on the previous day. The hotel is run down, which was typified by the tiles in the pool raining down on the users. The food selection was poor, with the family being unimpressed for the whole week and looking forward to going home for better food. There was only one bar and restaurant open, as opposed to the multitude that was supposedly offered. The staff were very nice, but severely lacking in numbers. An example of our stay was when we went to use the tennis court, which looked nice. However I had forgotten my tennis rackets (which I was very annoyed about) and we went to the reception to use the hotel's rackets and found that their paltry offering of one tennis racket and one squash racket was not sufficient to play tennis. Food is definitely not 5* you would get better food at a 2 * and actually made my stomach bad. Nothing advertised is open just one restaurant and 1 sometimes 2 bars. The staff are either really nice (especially the bar staff and one of the waitresses) or look totally miserable. The actual hotel is nice maybe a bit over the top but who cares when your on holiday. Hired a car to get away for a few days so broke it up. But you are not walking distance to anything. Overall definitely not worth the money had better holidays for half the price
