Maxim Boutique Hotel in Sofia

Beware of the “Boutique Hotel” labeling. While centrally located, and with a good restaurant, the hotel is a 2 star aging property with peeling paint and wallpaper, carpets with holes, and bedbugs which affected the whole family (see photos). We stayed for four nights in late October 2022. The owners could have a great business with some overhaul of the rooms and lobby. The front desk was dismissive of our basic questions about public transport on the first day, so we did not bother to seek their help after that.

I stayed here 29/4. The room was too dirty, there were insects under the beds , there weren’t enough pillowcases, the bed sheets had some holes from cigarette and the soundproofing was awful. Also the price (85€ per night) was disproportionate for its low quality. Maybe it was better to stay in my car than there .

I went to use the bathroom of the hotel lobby with my son. The cleaning lady told me that I am not allowed because I am not a client of the restaurant. I told her - ok, once we go to the bathroom we will sit down in the restaurant. We did. Then rhe cleanibg lady came all the way from the bathroom stalls to shame me for mu son pooping on "her" bathroom. Then 15 min later when we wanted to go to the bathroom she forbade us and started insulting us for wanting to use the TOILET!!! I highly recommend this hotel and the restaurant to be avoided! I've never seen more ridiculous cleaning lady !!!
