Montreal, 5225 Côte-des-Neiges (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
We had a wonderful stay here tonight with our two sons. The hotel is very quiet, and the sound insulation is excellent, which made the night very peaceful. The bedding is incredibly soft and comfortable, and the room felt spacious and welcoming. Everything was perfect for a relaxing family stop. Thank you for the warm atmosphere and hospitality — we will be happy to come back!
I just loved this hotel! The location is perfect. Right amongst wonderful bakeries , restaurants and useful shops. The parking is underneath and convenient. The receptionist carried my bags up for me) I walk with two canes and the help was graciously offered.
My room had a little kitchenette with a kettle, toaster , keurig machine and real china and cutlery.. even three bigger knives with one being...
Great place to stay in a great neighborhood. Rooms were clean and spacious, the suite was excellent overlooking the street. The bedroom was in the back away from the street so the noise did not bother us. Everything you need within walking distance. Glorious indoor parking with e charching included. Staff was very nice and helpful. Definitely recommend.
I stayed here recently for three nights for a family gathering, had booked a two bedroom suite. Stay was overall very pleasant. Our suite was clean and spacious, with windows that opened and a small balcony. It faced towards the back of the building and there was very little noise from the street, very quiet and we slept great. The climate control was provided by a modern wall mounted unit that operated...
The hotel is located not far from St. Joseph's Church, visible from the entrance, within a 10-minute walk. The street in front of the hotel is the main street of the area, lined with restaurants, supermarkets, and markets, making it very convenient. It's only a 2-3 minute walk to the subway station; a subway ride to the Old Town takes about half an hour, and a taxi costs around 20 Canadian dollars...
I had such good memories of my visit in July 2024 that I'll be back again in July 2025. I really hope to have another chance to visit.

I had a great experience thanks to Nabil at the front desk. His customer service was excellent from the moment I arrived. He was very professional, friendly, and welcoming and you can really see his strong hands on people skills. Nabil made the whole check in process smooth and was very pleasant to deal with. Staff like him truly make a difference in a hotel stay. Highly recommend!
What a great little #Montreal property.
It’s more industrial chic than glamorous however the quality of our stay was wonderful.
We were gifted an upgrade, the beds and pillows were very sleep worthy, the bath linens (and bathrobes) were a very good thread count, the room was very nicely equipped and the staff were very hospitable and thoughtful.
We slept thru breakfast so unable to comment on the food...
The hotel was very clean and thoughtfully designed, with a warm and cozy atmosphere. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall security felt strong, which made the stay very comfortable.
I also really enjoyed the complimentary coffee in the morning — a small touch but very nice. The bathtub was surprisingly large, easily big enough for two people to soak comfortably. Overall...
My boyfriend and I traveled from the US to this hotel. At first, the immediate area is slightly off putting but once we entered the hotel and met with the manager Nabil we knew that we made the right decision. Nabil was so welcoming and accommodating. He went out of his way to give us a great experience and even offered us some salts for our in room bath. Our room was extremely clean and cozy! The...
Just stayed there for 4 nights with my husband! We had a great stay. Our room was clean and spacious. I loved having the coffee bar and snacks in the lobby. The best part was the customer service. I didn't catch his name but the gentleman at the front was always sooooo nice to deal with! We would definitely book again!
Loved everything about Boxotel! The check-in process was easy, the rooms were perfectly sized with comfy beds and great showers! The location is more than ideal. Access to the top floor sauna and hot tub outdoors is such a nice touch, plus there’s a cool gym with mini rock climbing wall in the basement. There’s also a fantastic coffee machine with delicious coffee in the lobby and small food items...

Kind, attentive staff who truly cared about our experience. Exquisite rooms with the highest quality amenities.
We just spent a couple of nights at Hotel Kutuma and had an absolutely wonderful stay. From start to finish, everything was perfect. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful — you truly feel taken care of here.
Our room was beautiful, spacious, spotless, and so comfortable. It felt cozy yet luxurious, and we slept incredibly well. The attention to detail really stood out.

This is a belated review as we stayed here in November 2025 for one night while traveling to see family. This is an absolutely wonderful family-run hotel. The family who owns the place is wonderfully kind and generous--we were upgraded from a king room to the suite, which had been recently renovated. It was comfortable, very clean, with modern nice finished.

Overnight trip to Montreal to drop off daughter studying here led to booking this place near her apartment on the Plateau. A surprisingly positive experience. Fancy and spotless room. Tried associated Ethiopian restaurant (Blue Nile) which was very tasty and well presented.
Loved it all, from the animal print to the bedazzling shower head. Attentive, friendly service -- and complimentary croissants and coffee in the morning!
Had the most wonderful stay at this boutique hotel in Montreal. Amazing walkable location. The room was phenomenal, heated floors, jacuzzi, comfortable bed and furniture. There is a delicious Ethiopian restaurant downstairs that we enjoyed. Everyone that worked there was beyond kind and went above and beyond to make the stay comfortable, you could tell they really had pride in this hotel and wanted...

A lot better stay than anticipated from some of the reviews. I think we’ve discovered that the ground and upper level rooms are better up kept than the basement; So try and make sure you’re able to get one of them, our room specifically was 108 and it was perfectly fine! You can hear the hallway quite a lot if people are being disruptive, the windows also don’t provide much blockage from outside sound...
Liked the modern room with all facilities. Staff is friendly and helpful. Location could be better but can’t really complain.
I love this place. I've been here 6 times.... It's humble and clean.... great staff and amazing location. Merci
Older hotel, nice rooms for what you pay. No sign of bedbugs (which has been a problem in Montreal)! Would recommend if looking for a decent hotel with a small budget.
I think the floors of my room could have been a bit cleaner, but everything else was great. The staff were very accomodating and the location is truly superb. I think this place is really old and needs some renovating overall but you can't beat the price short of staying in the hostel next door. The room TV was pretty old but I don't watch anyways. They have parking out back but my car wouldn't fit...
I've stayed here at least a dozen times. The price is great, as is the location if you're looking to be near the village. Is it luxurious? No. Is the bed the most comfortable? No. But you're not paying luxury hotel prices, and if you temper your expectations you'll find it to be a perfectly serviceable hotel with free WiFi, cable, and breakfast. I'll continue staying here each time I visit Montréal

Excellent hotel in perfect area for us. Would go again. Bed was quite hard though and pillows very lumpy. Free bottle of wine which was very nice. Room was big and original.would take my own pillow next time
Excellent staff. Beautiful room and front lobby. Very convenient location. Highly recommended.
We had a great time, in my personal opinion complaining about a historic building having noise issues is a little odd especially considering how the rooms have brick and support beams exposed I expected as much. Rooms were very clean, concierge helped with baggage, was so centrally located we forgot we owned a truck until we left. Only thing we didn’t like was we were charged ~125$ after our stay...
Lovely rooms. Clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.
One thing that lessened my experience was the rooms are not soundproof. I could hear full conversations from the next room.
Wonderful hotel and location, friendly staff, and rooms in great shape. The attached bistro was fantastic too.
The room was lovely, the location was perfect and the staff couldn’t have been better. We had such a lovely winter getaway and loved spending time by the fireplace in the lobby at the end of each night!

Great location. Steps from metro( subway), old downtown, cinema. Lots of cafe/ restaurants nearby, with some places open 24/7.
Rooms are very clean and spacious. Eventhough hotel is located on a busy street windows provide really good noise cancellation.
Beds are comfortable.
Breakfast is amazing!!! Lots of great nutritios options.
Excellent hôtel! Price is really affordable and you get a great service for what you pay. It's not pristine clean nor, the furniture aren't luxurious. But again you get a great service! We had a suite and the kitchen is well equipped. Location is absolutely amazing! Breakfast is good and free.
The rooms and amenities were decent however the staff, service, and location, was the best. The receptionist Saint Claire was super helpful even when I checked in early and had a difficult time navigating Montreal. He ensured I felt comfortable and provided very clear instructions. The location was perfect, not too far from Notre Dame Basillica and Via Rail.
Great location — only about a 5-minute walk from the metro station, and you can also walk to the Old Town and Old Port. The area is super convenient! The room was very clean and had a small kitchen with everything you need like microwave, toaster, cups, and plates. The breakfast was delicious and had a good variety. Overall, it was a wonderful stay at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend for both...
Hôtel Le Roberval exceeded my expectations with its impeccable cleanliness and exceptional front desk service. The staff demonstrated remarkable patience and kindness, making my stay truly memorable. While it may not boast extravagant luxuries...
A decent hotel in an excellent location, just a short walk from Downtown and Old Montreal, and steps from Berri-UQAM metro station. Could use some sprucing up and the layout is a tad confusing at first but the included breakfast is pretty good and the price is excellent for what you get.

This fantastic place which I've known for many years is now closed. The management said they could not withstand with impact of the pandemic. They have suggested they might reopen someday in a new form, maybe partly condo, but who really knows. The hotel has visited by many A-list people over the years, and I loved the restaurant as a place to impress visitors.
A beautiful hotel great service and people are friendly and helpful . We loved our stay at st.james
This is such a beautiful Hotel. We made a last minute reservation because we were accepted to Diner en Blanc in Montreal. The staff was really incredible. From the time we arrived and checked in, to the Concierge's guidance on local caterers, directions and recommendations to a liquor store and directions to the metro. It was a memorable stay and we'll definitely be back.
Very nice hotel in the heart of old Port in Montreal. Very clean and attentive service. Very nice rooms. Reasonable priced. Not extremely quiet inside the rooms . You can hear the cars from outside , especially if the exhaust is a bit loud. I was on the last floor and I could still hear the cars passing by in the middle of the night if I was awake. The bar inside the hotel is ok.
Hotel St James is one of my favorite hotels in Montreal. This hotel is pure luxury, with a beautiful restaurant and SPA. Staff at this hotel are very professional and friendly. The room I rented needed a matte in front door. For shoes. Besides that everything was great
There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang went towels and no waste baskets. No coffee machine. No iron board and no iron. Suspisious activities in the parking lot. Many homeless persons asking for money and cigarettes.
just okay
not a lot of parking space. the room does not have hooks to hang bath towels and no space to put toiletries. And the air condition is noisy. The best part of our stay was when the receptionist knocked
Friendly and welcoming staff, good breakfast, free parking, metro station 5 minutes away, good location, a little bit dark and small room, but it doesn’t matter if you need spend two-three night and walk around
The room was nice and clean, staff was prompt and helpful, and parking was no problem. The hotel is a very easy walking distance to the train, making the rest of the city accessible. The place is nothing fancy, and the wifi service was hardly passable. Would recommend if you're planning to spend almost all of your time out and about and just need a clean+safe place to lay your head.

Exactly as described, everything was great, this hotel is perfect if you want a cheap stay for a few nights. Also right next to a metro station for easy access to the rest of the city.
The price and location were great and staff were friendly and helpful. The four flights of stairs we had to climb to get to our room were quite steep, and would have been impossible for someone with mobility issues.
Staff was amazing and room was clean too
There was no elevator in the building so we have to walk all the way upto 4th floor with all our stuff
Considering the price, it’s a good option. The room is small, but the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is very clean and recently renovated. Overall, the place is tidy, though there are a few areas that could be improved, especially the small shared kitchen, which feels a bit cluttered and messy.
If you’re looking for something affordable and comfortable, this is a great choice. It’s perfect...
Near Berri U'QAM station, where line 1, line 2, and line 4 interchange. The coach station is also within walking distance.
Don't expect the same level of comfort, service, and amenities as a 4-star hotel at a 2-star hotel. Everything is predictable and in line with the price in this part of the city. A cozy little spot! The managers were very friendly and when they were serving the complimentary breakfast in the morning, they were very hospitable. The rooms were clean and had all the basic necessities.
Location and the cleanness of my room, the sevice people had a smile like i ve never seen in my entire life
the bed was extremely soft, and I could not sleep well
Get what you pay for
I know what to expect when I stay here, a comfortable bed, a shower and washroom. I’m not there to spend time in the room - Montreal has lots to offer and keep you busy 24hrs. So if you’re looking for a place to crash and not break the bank, then Hotel Ste-Catherine is the choice.
Ì think , everything was good.

We stayed four nights at Hotel Le Cantlie and our experience was nothing short of wonderful. From the front desk to housekeeping, the staff of this hotel were accommodating and friendly.

We enjoyed our two-day stay at hotel le Cantlie. Very polite and friendly staff. The hotel has a parking valet in the back and charges $28 per night for parking. This hotel is always my first choice when visiting Montreal (several times a year). It has a great, central location with comfortable rooms, friendly/helpful staff at a very fair price.
You get what you pay for - had another accommodation cancel our reservation last minute due to a water leak/damage so we had to book something last minute in the same area without costing a fortune. The hotel is older, our room could have used a refresh - damage in the shower and bathroom, old worn carpet. Very friendly staff!
Great welcome, all employees in that hotel were wonderful, great location, clean rooms, great place to stay while visiting Montreal. Merci beaucoup

The hotel was much better than I expected, especially considering the price. The nightly rate is very affordable, and the location is excellent — close to the metro station and right in downtown...
Empire Suites is a location-first, no-frills hotel. The metro is extremely close, there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and it’s about a 5-minute walk from the Gare d’Autocars de Montréal, which is a big plus if you’re arriving by bus.
Check-in was quick, efficient, and friendly. The lobby is small but cozy and comfortable.
The room was very clean upon arrival, but was never serviced...
Stayed there for a Saturday night. The ladies at check in were super sweet. The room was nice size, great bathroom. Could use some cosmetic touch up. The bed was the worst part, hard and uncomfortable. Overall for the price this hotel is well worth it.
Overall a great place to stay. Quite a convenient to stay considering it's between Old and Downtown Montreal.
Will be staying there again very soon.

When I travel, I love to tent a room thst makes you "feel" the charm and soul of where you are visiting. Loved this little hoté where we rentrd s suite with two bedrooms. The rooms are clean, the service was great
My family of five had a lovely stay at this hotel and we will be sure to stay here again when visiting family in the future. Turguay was very attentive and helpful in ensuring that we would be able to get into the hotel even though our train was very late; the room was perfect; and the hotel was centrally located. This hotel was also very reasonably priced.
This is the best hotel in Montréal by far. Location is close to everything and supermarket next door. Most of the room are suite with kitchen, full size fridge. Very warm welcome by the owner. He is one of the smartest, funniest small business owner. He has been travel around the world and he respects all kind of lives. 5 stars to the staffs and this place.

The entrance/hallways are not indicative of the rooms themselves (old and rundown) but the room itself was clean and updated it was an old rooming house I believe . Great air conditioning and decent space. Asked for and received a mini fridge and kettle. No room service or cleaning between nights unless you pay extra. Overall the location was perfect. Walking distance to many restaurants...

We had a great stay. Rooms were spacious and clean. The management was very friendly, and a great location. Many things within walking distance in each direction!
Had a 5 day stay in 2023, enjoyed every minute of it. It's definitely a good stay if you are on the younger side as it can get loud on the weekends. The manager even let me pick my own room,
Great restaurants close by and the subway is right there.
