Shanghai Joyful Star Hotel in Shanghai

I was a bit worried after reading some reviews, but it turned out to be much better than I expected. The room had a faint musty smell, but it was clean and tidy. The breakfast was also quite good. They offer an airport shuttle service; from the airport to the hotel, you need to find the pick-up point yourself at fixed times, and from the hotel to the airport, you need to book your departure time for the next day. The bus driver helps with luggage, and since the shuttle picks up guests from two other hotels along the way, make sure to allow plenty of time. For the price, I was generally satisfied with the stay, especially for just one night in transit. I would choose this hotel again next time.

There is a shuttle bus to/from Disneyland too but I use Didi due to I need to get into the park earlier.

We booked for a night due to late arrival & wanted to stay nearby. Hotel provides pick up and it's on time which makes it very convenient. Rooms are clean & amenities are good. The staff 305 is friendly and provide good service. Will definitely stay again in next visit.

The room was clean and tidy, just a 30-minute drive from Pudong Airport. They offer a 24-hour shuttle service to and from Pudong Airport, which makes it very convenient for transfers.

Hotel located in residence area, 5 storey hotel, surrounding is good near food area, super market but not much shopping store, Hotel provide free airport shuttle bus transfer, Room is clean, big and nice, Happy with the stay will stay again if need to catch early flight.

Very good hotel for transit. Free airport transfer that come in every hour. Hotel will message you all the details on how to wait for the shuttle bus & what time shuttle bus arrive. Room is newly renovated and beautiful. Comfortable bed. Get late checkout for free. Check out at 2pm. And book the airport transfer at 3pm. Walk around the hotel area. Find local supermarket nearby that sells good product with local price. And the best things , there is halal restaurant nearby that open morning until late night. It just 6 minute walking from hotel. Extremely convenient for a layover or early flight. Free shuttle bus to Disneyland but with specific timing and schedule to follow alway to check with front desk The hotel shuttle was prompt, and check-in was smooth. We were very pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to a spacious family suite, which was greatly appreciated and made our stay much more comfortable.
The Major Issue: Service Breakdown Unfortunately, a significant negative experience overshadowed the positive start.
During the late evening, with no restaurant within walking distance, we attempted to order food delivery. We approached the night shift staff member at the front desk for the hotel's direct phone number to provide to the delivery driver, as is standard practice. The staff member was not just unhelpful, but outright rude. They refused to provide the hotel's contact number, offered no alternative solutions (like suggesting the driver could call the main line or instructions for delivery access), and communicated in a dismissive and unprofessional manner.
