As of July 31, 2025, the russian flag is still on the building. What's the hotel's message?
Please boycott this property. If you are staying there, please take a stance and ask the management to take the agressor's flag down.

The hotel is centrally located in the town center.

The rooms are clean and well-equipped.

Breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style, unfortunately spread across three rooms. If you don't arrive in the first half of the mealtime, you might find that not everything is available. Aside from the bar and reception staff, the employees speak little to no German. Furthermore, the hotel is mostly frequented by Russian and Ukrainian guests.

We were on a Christmas stay, the hotel is close to the promenade and the Christmas spa was beautiful. Every evening the dance evenings were great. The rooms are clean. The food is acceptable, except that you order food the day before and you get a different one, because it simply didn't work out. The maid knocked at 8:10 in the morning and in a second she was in our room, it was a disaster of impudence. The management should teach the maid a lesson! But I give 5 stars, those were the only minuses, otherwise great and we would be happy to come back here 🙂

We went for lunch as a group with a set menu… the food was awful… the worst possible… even dogs wouldn't eat the soup they served us… the waitresses were unprofessional, had no attitude, and had habits like… rudely eating dessert right there, leaning against a piece of furniture while the rest of us ate… it felt like we were eating in a dive, and they looked so disheveled they wouldn't even fit to be at home. If you go to this beautiful city, don't even think about eating there.

Me, my wife & our friend staid in hotel/spa Krivan in Karlovy Vary for a 2 weeks from 8/27 till 9/10 2024. In general I would recommend this place for vacation/medical improvement. The location of Krivan is perfect. 100 feet from Sadova colonnade, 3 minutes walk to the main colonnade - Mlinska colonnade. The hotel locating on the promenade itself so You don't have to climb uphill. Hotel is newly renovated so it's very clean. The medical treatment are appropriate, medical stuff mainly good with some small issues. The food in the resort is not perfect but again everybody has a different taste. The rooms are not too big, old style keys, very flat pillows, can't sleep on one, we asked for a second one, then it was not too bad. So in general the hotel is O.K. considering relatively modest price. Again in my opinion the main attraction is the location of the resort in this beautiful city of Karlovy Vary

Krivan' is perfectly located. For Karlovy Vary, the lack of ups and downs and the absolute proximity to the springs are a huge plus, especially for those with mobility issues. The hotel itself has pretensions to pretentiousness; it's very large for Karlovy Vary. My husband and I are both over 60, and sometimes it felt like we were the youngest guests here. The guests are mostly Czechs, Germans, Russian Germans (Israelis, Balts, Americans...), Ukrainians, and Belarusians. The food isn't as bad as the reviews describe. Compared to other Karlovy Vary hotels and those I've stayed in, everything is tolerable, especially considering the large number of people eating at the same time. We got a room with a view of the Garden Colonnade—a stroke of luck. But the beds are really narrow and the pillows are really uncomfortable. There are no complaints about the cleaning or the procedures either. The staff is generally pleasant and unobtrusive. In general, Krivan's amenities compensate for its bulkiness. But if someone prefers small, intimate hotels, then this is definitely not Krivan.

Reasons not to come here: 1. If you have good hearing and you don't want to hear people's conversations and music all the time. 2. If you really care about your health and you don't want to ingest ambient lung cancer every time you enter and exit the building. 3. If you have mobility issues. 4. You don’t want to rush to eat dinner by 18:30. Explanations: 1. I was first in building number three and I could hear the conversations and television of the person next to me. Unfortunately the facility insists on having music everywhere, including the hallways and treatment areas. I could hear the music from the hallway and the people next to me all at the same time it was impossible to relax. After one terrible night with a lot of noise, I was moved to another building or otherwise I was going to ask for my money back and go to another hotel. I was moved to building #1 which supposedly has thicker walls and it has an entryway between the front door and the bedroom. When I closed the door to the entryway, I heard less of the music outside but I could still hear the loud conversation by the person next door. Most of the people who come to this hotel are elderly and probably have hearing issues. They probably are not bothered by the music and they don't realize that they're being really loud and disturbing other people. 2. Even though there's a no smoking sign by one side of the entry doors, people smoke on the other side of the entry doors, including the staff who are supposed to enforce the “non smoking” policy. When the staff come back into the building, their clothes smell of cigarette smoke and it smells terrible. One of the elevators had a terrible odor of cigarette smoke. I think it's because of the employee who was going up and down the elevator who had cigarette smoke all over his clothes. People come to the sanatorium to improve their health, not to ingest lung cancer when they come in and out of the building. It would be better if the hotel strictly forbade smoking in front of the hotel. 3. The sign next to the restaurant says that dinner is served from 17:30 to 19:15. But the staff is in a rush to finish by 19:00 so they can get to the bus station and take their bus home. If you get there anytime past 18:30, a lot of the food is missing. I sometimes had to eat even when I wasn’t hungry because otherwise, there would be nothing to eat. 4. Even though there are elevators in each of the three buildings that are connected to each other, you still have to go up steps to go from one building to another. There's no way to avoid going up those steps. I saw a woman really struggle going up and down the steps with her walker. She needed help each time. One time she couldn't even get to her water exercise class in the pool because the elevator didn't work. Ironically there's an electric wheelchair on display for people to buy. But I can't imagine anybody who needs a wheelchair staying in this facility. —- The treatments are very good

We didn't stay at the hotel; we had lunch with an organized group at Bernard Restaurant, which belongs to the hotel. The service was excellent; in fact, one of the waiters tried to communicate with us in Spanish—he was incredibly friendly. The food was delicious, typical of the region.

Witnessed a altercation between some Asian tourists and hotel staff at breakfast. The hotel staff shouted at the tourist who tried to open the door to restaurant as they were apparently early and breakfast wasn't ready... Was shocked at the rudeness of the staff but also the shouting match so early in the morning. Sure woke me up even without caffeine! Don't think I'd stay here again despite it's great location. Many other hotels in Karlovy Vary.
