emilio hotel in Luxor

The good: -Central location in Luxor, very close to the Luxor temple The bad: -Very noisy from the outside -Poor breakfast in a room without daylight -small very dated rooms -not very clean -Unsafe Wifi -Lock of our door was broken, staff didn't manage to fix it during the 3 nights stay

My hopes weren’t high when we arrived in the tired, drab reception area and they weren’t lifted when we entered our room. The rooms are inadequately furnished with lack of space for suitcases and belongings. Everything is in desperate need of updating, including the bathroom. There was no shower curtain around the shower which was over the bath tub so the floor got soaked when showering. The shower head didn’t project enough to get under the water to actually shower. Not sure how we were meant to feel by the incongruous models made from the towels, topped with plastic flowers, which were displayed on the beds - a total waste of time which would be better spent cleaning the rooms - the wash hand basin remain uncleaned during our stay. The least said about breakfast the better starting from the plastic cups for very watery orange juice and tea made in a teapot and left to stew on a hot plate. Tables were covered in plastic sheeting I presume to save in replacing tablecloths. Everything was so unappealing - just don’t bother! The only saving grace was the rooftop pool - icy cold water but a great location overlooking Luxor Temple and the Nile. And a welcome relief from our room.

This hotel was filthy during our stay. White towels were stained with black marks. Tap in the bathroom dripped all night. Shower pressure was low and the room facing the street was noisy all night long! We did not sleep. To top it all off, the internet was so shoddy, we had to rely on our purchased data plan. This is one of the G Adventures line up of poor hotels!

Staff are not aware or knowledgeable about touristic info. Stamp purchase a bit of a scam - price inflated. Likely did not even send my postcard as they seemed very indifferent when asking about postal service and still have not received my postcard nearly 3 months later. Building is old and dark and dingy. Street noise very audible. Breakfast not worth waking up for. Location is not far from market so one good thing.

Rooms not good and bad view Staff not friendly and really no experience ever Recipition not aware about any rule and very bad way I think prices for reservations not apply with service that need more develop I can't recommend this hotel for any one again

Stayed here, to actually source hot water is near impossible. There is no kettle in the room and when you ask at reception for hot water, they have no idea what you are talking about. To be honest if I was to come back to egypt. I definately would not stay here again

Hotel located in the city center, for those who like it, all the better. On the other hand, if you like the charm of little birds, go your way, because it is very shiny, with windows that close badly or not at all. The atmosphere in the corridors and rooms is gloomy and lugubrious. Everything is old and ugly. It is worth paying a little more and paying for another hotel. To be removed from the tourist guides.

If you’re here as part of an Egyptian tour (eg. Intrepid), ask your guide to speak to Reception to move you to a non-smoking room, if they do indeed exist. According to trip advisor they do but I’m doubtful. I asked to move room due to the stench of smoke in the room. I’m more sensitive to second-hand smoke than most, so I took my inhaler down to help with my case. I was told i can go to the room balcony. Blasted the air con and left the door open which helped with the smell. But the pillow still stank so had to cover it with my own clothes. Had a few hours to wait until our tour left the hotel. Tried the lobby for the air conditioning but got stuck breathing in other guests second-hand smoke. Tried the pool area but the only smoke free area was in 40+ degree heat. The breakfast packs provided by the hotel were three different types of stale bread wrapped in polystyrene and plastic and an old apple. Food and drinks we ordered were good, and some of the restaurant staff were nice. They were the only redeeming factor. If you’re a smoker, this place is probably fine.

We came to this hotel as part of a tour. My main complaint about this hotel is that they allow smoking everywhere, or they don't police it so you cant enjoy being there if you are a non smoker, my partner who has allergies could not escape it. The staff will barely serve you at any location throughout the hotel either - you must go up and ask. Not a problem but most hotels have better service than this. Mostly the building is run down, the pool is nice but the people trying to sell massages will harass you constantly even when you say no thank you. Our room stunk so badly of smoke and they would not move our room. We also discovered late at night that the balcony door did not shut, letting in hot air and noise. Our actual room was clean but you could barely navigate past all of the furniture. Overall this place is awful and I could not recommend it.
