Garden Opera Hotel Paris in Paris

Building is run down. Wall paper is peeling off of the walls. Chairs appear to be stained with bodily fluids and we had to request toilet paper. The bathroom is tiny and there is no bathroom door handle, just a hole in the door where one belongs. The elevator barely fits 2 adults with luggage. In addition the block it is on feels very unsafe. Unfortunately we had a last minute cancellation with airBNB and ended up here. 🙈

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff of the hotel is really nice and goes above and beyond to help. The hotel itself is quite a nightmare. The first night the heating regulator broke down and we had to sleep in boiling temperature. You can't really open a window to make it better as the street is loud pretty much all the time. Another evening we couldn't go into our room because the lock broke down. Kudos to the receptionist for trying really hard to fix it, however as it was beyond his ability, he tried to contact the manager, who was very difficult to reach. We didn't hear any apologies from him either.
The rooms are clean but very small and so is the elevator (which smells horribly mouldy). Shower head had some hair stuck on it (yikes). Breakfast consists of croissants, baguettes and hot drink.
Location is fairly convenient as it's in a close proximity of tube and train station.
Overall I don't believe it's worth the money. I hope the staff can get another job where they don't have to worry about things like this on regular basis.
