Multiple guests highlighted the friendly and attentive staff, with one calling the service 'warm and caring' and another praising the 'top-flight red-carpet treatment' during a New Year's stay. The hotel is recognized for its cleanliness and modern design, with several guests noting 'spotless and comfortable' rooms and a 'great indoor pool' with beautiful mountain views. Breakfast buffet received repeated positive mentions for its variety and quality, described as 'excellent' and 'great'. Spa and wellness facilities were appreciated by some guests, especially the sauna and infusion treatments, though with reservations about size and temperature. The hotel offers a wide range of room types including suites with balconies and mountain views, catering to different guest preferences. Several reviews pointed out discomfort with the beds, describing mattresses as hard or sloping, leading to poor sleep quality. Dining quality beyond breakfast was often criticized for bland, overcooked food and limited vegetarian options, with some guests calling dinner 'average' or 'reheated slop'. Spa facilities had temperature issues, with pools often too cold or too warm and the sauna not available early enough for some guests. Parking is charged at €12 per day despite ample free parking spaces nearby, which guests described as excessive. Some guests reported unfriendly or understaffed service in the bar and restaurant areas, and noted additional charges for items like flip-flops in the spa and drinks.

Dear Aja Ruhpolding Team, My stay at your hotel was truly impeccable. The staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel very welcome throughout. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the excellent buffet, which offered great variety and quality. Overall, the warm and caring service from everyone made my stay relaxing and memorable. Thank you for such a wonderful experience—I look forward to returning. Best regards, John F.

My family and I decided to reserve 2026 New Year's Eve accommodations at a new place we had never seen or experienced in the past. Our goal was to bring in the New Year with great company, food, fun, and new experiences and Aja Ruhpolding Hotel and Resort did not disappoint. Despite an initial room overbooking issue coupled with a guest's unexpected illness preventing access to the second room, professional staff members quickly jumped into action ensuring every aspect and concern we had would be addressed and handled and inconveniences met with red carpet compensations (Exclusive New Year's Eve Dinner and Dancing Event), 3 night upgrade enabling us to stay in a special luxury suite. I would like to name those who took very special care of the Jones Family during our Holiday stay. A special thanks to the Resort's General Manager Michael, he ensured my family received top-flight red-carpet treatment from minute one until checkout. Although the holidays can be extremely for an entire Hotel Resort staff, a group of guest relations professionals were assembled to address the Jones Family's every need. Hany, who serves as the Hotel/Resort's Reception Manager secured a New Year's Eve stay at a different hotel named Zur Post in the Center of Ruhpolding (very nice accommodations) due to unfortunate overbooking issue. Maxx and Lara both oversaw the special care we would receive daily through our departure. Having direct access to each of these awesome professionals, we intend to return to Aja Ruhpolding Hotel and Resort again in the very near future knowing our every need will be taken care of prior to, during, and through the end of our stay. This team sets the bar very high and we totally benefitted from their generosity. Thank you for making this a memorable stay. Best Wishes from Gregory, Patrizia, Nicole, Noelle Jones, and Jacob Olson (rooms 211 & 192 31 December 2025 - 4 January 2026).

We booked one night at the Aja Ruhpolding because the website explicitly stated that the spa area could be used free of charge before check-in and for a small fee after check-out. However, upon our arrival at midday, we were told that due to occupancy, the spa and fitness area could only be used from check-in at 3 pm. The spa area is generally nice, but the relaxation area is too small. The indoor pool is too warm for swimming laps and too cold otherwise; consequently, there was hardly anyone in the water. The outdoor pool and the whirlpool were simply too cold. The sauna isn't switched on until 11 am, so we couldn't use it at all on our departure day. The reception staff seemed annoyed, and we didn't feel welcome. The common areas (reception, bar, restaurant) are nicely designed, but the carpeting in the hallways leading to the rooms has an awful "design" and looks worn. There isn't even a hotel safe in the rooms. Breakfast was good, but dinner was only average. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly, but the hotel seems understaffed – our drinks didn't arrive until we were almost finished with our main course. The €12 parking fee is excessive, especially since the hotel is located outside the town center and there are plenty of parking spaces available. In short: you're essentially paying for access to the spa area from 3 pm to 7 pm on your arrival day; the pools were practically unusable due to the temperature. Not a 4-star hotel – we definitely won't be back.

Great view in the mountains but very mediocre experience. Uncomfortable beds, mediocre food, not vegetarian friendly (be ready to only eat salads and sides), feels short on staff… basically a chain that’s skimming on comfort to save costs.
Also, if you’re not German, keep in mind that the spa space is mixed AND nude! It would be more inclusive to at least offer some time per day for non-mixed access to the spa.

The room was good, but there were only two tissues for two days... room service should have provided replacements.

Breakfast was fantastic. Dinner, served buffet-style, was rather average; the food was bland and overcooked.

Positives:
👍🏻 Beautiful location, and that’s it.

Negatives:
👎🏻 Charging €12 for parking in a remote location like this is extortion, plain and simple. For that price, you might as well expect valet parking and free EV charging.

👎🏻 This „spa“ hotel doesn’t provide free slippers for the spa area — you need to buy some or bring your own. For me, this is a first at a spa, but maybe it’s a German thing.

👎🏻 The rooms are depressing (essentially, if you’ve ever been to an assisted living facility you’ll know what to expect) and the bathroom doors don’t close fully. They also forgot half of the necessities (like the towels for the spa et al).

👎🏻 Our bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and presumably old as it sloped away to the sides. That meant we slept at an angle. Probably the least comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. Wild how much they’re charging for this.

👎🏻 Dinner is essentially a series of casseroles with reheated slop. I stuck to salad and chewy, flavorless fish.

I’m not saying you will have a bad time here — but don’t come expecting anything other than being nickel and dimed at a chain hotel. Essentially, this is a cheap, budget hotel in nice packaging.

Great hotel in a beautiful location
The Hotel is modern and clean, service is excellent in all areas of the facility. Breakfast is great, dinner menu items ate limited as the hotel is more Buffet style dinner oriented, which always had good variety and good tasting food.

Excellent hotel, nice indoor pool and friendly staff. We had a great weekend! Scenery very beautiful around the hotel.

Lack of hospitality in a hotel with lot of potential and a very nice spa.

We had a nice stay, rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable and there was no noice to be heard at night. Also the spa was really nice, even with infusion (opgieting/aufguss). We were totally relaxed after.

However, where things go wrong for this hotel is the hospitality and what you receive for your money in general. We've paid 250,- for a night. We found this alreay a bit excessive and we expected therefor that it would cover everything for the day/night. This wasn't the case, you pay extra for:
- parking 12,-
- drinks (even with your dinner booked in advance) - think of wines of 8,-/10,-
- flip flops if you forget these

Besides this, there's no coffee or thee in the room, also no fridge for possible brought goods. Everything is done to get you into the bar, where you can pay extra for drinks and foods.

So, nice hotel, great spa. But I'm certain there are other places you will receive the same with the missed horspitality included.

We stayed at AJA Hotel and, at first glance, the property looked great. The hotel itself is nice, the pool area is spacious, and the overall atmosphere is inviting. However, the details that truly make a stay exceptional were completely overlooked.

The food was extremely disappointing. Every stand-up dinner felt like they just didn’t care. The fish was dry, there was no real food concept, and it honestly seemed like they were using the cheapest ingredients possible. There was no quality, no effort—just basic, uninspired meals. Even the drinks were bad—bland, tasteless, and not at all what you’d expect from a hotel of this level.

The lack of attention to guest comfort didn’t stop there, despite being a hotel, not even a complimentary bottle of water was provided. To make matters worse, hotel guests were still required to pay an extra €12 for something that should have been included.

It’s a shame because the hotel itself has potential. But without improving the dining experience, guest comfort, and basic hospitality, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you just want a nice pool and don’t care about food or service, it might work. But for a truly enjoyable stay? Look elsewhere.
