Landhotel Maiergschwendt in Ruhpolding

Wonderful homely place to stay just a short walk from Ruhpolding. Room was spacious, with a sitting area and patio. Shower was hot and good pressure. Lots of nice sitting-communal areas inside too. We had half board and food was good. International tourists welcome, hosts speak English and are welcoming!

Very charming hotel with beautiful scenery. Would definitely come back. Great breakfast too.

Nice hotel, but a bit worn in the restaurant area and the outdoor area.

At the beginning of June 2024, I stayed at the Landhotel Maiergschwendt for 6 days with my two dogs. The hotel is located just a few minutes' drive from Ruhpolding in the countryside and you can start hiking directly from the hotel. There is a bus stop in front of the house, supermarkets, gas stations and even a vet - everything is nearby in Ruhpolding. Getting there with two large dogs was no problem at all, I had booked a family room for more space, which consisted of a living room with balcony, bedroom, bathroom (bathtub with shower curtain) and another additional toilet. The view from the balcony was simply beautiful, a direct view of the mountains and nice and quiet. The rooms were a bit old and carpeted, but spotlessly clean. There was free WiFi, hygiene products and a bathrobe, and when I asked, they immediately put a small refrigerator in my room. The mattresses were a bit soft, but I was so exhausted every day that I still slept really well. The cleaning staff were super flexible, I just let them know when I was leaving with the dogs and they cleaned straight away. I was always very late for breakfast, but everything was still there, fresh and varied. The evening meal (I didn't have half board, but I ate there several evenings anyway) was also super delicious, I think the Kaiserschmarrn is the best I've ever eaten. There are other great restaurants in the area, Ruhpolding leaves nothing to be desired and the hotel sets a good example. I also treated myself to a massage and the masseur was great, absolutely recommended. In general, all the staff were very friendly and fulfilled my every wish, no matter how small, with a smile. Absolutely recommended - I felt very comfortable and would gladly come back again

If you have to leave early, you can't get breakfas
The only reason not giving 5 stars is, that the breakfast time starts late. I had to leave the hotel at 7:15 am on some days and couldn't get anything for breakfast.

The staffs are very nice. They don't speak English very fluently but I felt their hospitality. We had a very wonderful stay.

GOOD: room was quite big, with bathroom and a separate toilet, and the views from balcony were amazing. Breakfast was very complete. Free parking in the hotel facilities. BAD: reception was unattended when we reached there (around 18:00h), so we had to call someone from the restaurant. They gave us the key and a form to fill in, and left immediately. Unexpected local tax during check-out. Hotel is located in the outskirts from Ruhpolding, so you might need to use the car to go to the city center.
