Hotel Drei Quellen Therme in Bad Griesbach

We booked the Rottaler Zimmer mit balcony and half board for two nights. Free parking once you find the parking lot. Received information at check in and a welcome drink of prosecco in the beautiful lobby. The room was a lovely mix of rustic and modern with a nice balcony looking out to the pool and sauna barn! Bathrobes, pool towels and slippers provided in a nice carry basket for at hotel/spa use. Well outfitted bathroom. No kettle in room. Included in the room rate is a ‘heated’ outdoor pool (quite chilly) and the sauna barn which includes dry, wet, bio, Finnish and bread saunas, along with showers, tea and water station, a polar bear head spitting out ice and several relaxation areas. The pool expects a bathing suit while the saunas don’t allow! The sauna barn is really good, and big enough you don't feel crowded. It's quiet both outside hotel overnight but you can hear everything from the hallways. There is no air circulation in the room; only a radiator heater (turned off) and the balcony door (which we left open). Still so warm and stuffy in October; poor sleep. I can’t imagine what it’s like in warmer weather?! You are assigned a table in the dining room and that’s where you go for all your meals. For half board you have to order your dinner at breakfast. It feels very school dorm and doesn’t match the price tag of the “4 star superior” hotel. We had the misfortune of arriving on a day where only a buffet was offered for half board dinner. The “Bavarian Buffet” included salad bar, cold selections, very limited hot selections, cheese course and a served dessert. It was adequate but many items were VERY salty. The next evening's menu dinner started with self-serve salad bar, self-serve soup, then your preordered main (choice of 5) and dessert (choice of 2) are served. The food quality was okay, the waiter was pleasant and we enjoyed the evening. There are two dining rooms each with their own breakfast buffet; the one at the back is larger with better selection and at least a meager offering of hot dishes compared to none at the front room, so go to that one even if your table is at the front - we did. When the waiter asked if we wanted coffee and I asked for a cappuccino he said I could make my own! Not what I would expect from a “4 star superior” hotel.
