Hotel Garni Sonnenhof in Rottach-Egern

We saw on the tourist office website that a double room with a terrace was available and inquired by email.

We then received a written booking confirmation.

However, on the day of arrival, we were given a room without a terrace or balcony.

The house is very well-maintained, but showing its age. The same applies to the room furnishings. The bathroom was renovated and had modern fixtures.

The smell in the house and the room was somewhat unpleasant.

For breakfast, you are assigned a specific table.

It's unclear how this works.

In any case, we felt cramped.

Bread rolls, butter, jam, and honey are available on the table. Eggs are freshly cooked for an additional charge.

A small selection of cheese and cold cuts is available as a buffet. There is a self-service coffee machine.

Parking is available free of charge.

I was introduced to this hotel by a German friend as far back as twenty years ago. After this I have visited it more than once. Latest in 2012 on my way by car from Norway to Italy. The hotel is cosy and comfortable. The village center is within walking distance. The houses are surrounded by a nice garden. If you are after a real bed and breakfast at a good price this is undoubtedly a good place to stay.

It's a small simple cozy hotel with nice cozy rooms. The breakfast is simple but it tastes good and enough. Everything is fresh and very clean and well maintained. Nice staff and not far into town. Thank you ☺
