Tv and everything modern and easy.
I travel a lot and this was so far my best place to stay.
Some small hints: it would be nice to have tissues in the rooms. And please pay attention to repair/replace the broken bin in the toilett.
I’ll be short… reception lady when we’ve checked in on 10th of August was rude,;my Master Card used in whole Germany and Austria during our holiday was rejected; we were accommodated in the historic building and it was a nightmare: rooms dirty ( we had two, one for our daughter) , the sheets were in an uncertain color , under one pillow sheet ( very large comparing with pillow sizes) we found a night butterfly dead since some time, half day we did not had hot water due to a mistake of a employee . No specialized personnel to help/solve. They tried by video call with the breakfast personnel ( one nice girl) to solve the plumbing issue. Live from under the sink… Incredible! In the room was very hot (28-30 degrees) and it was fitted just with a very noisy fan ( could not slept with this on). The room was a total kitsch with a plastic- glass bathroom in the middle of the room fitted with an outdated whirlpool tube …. A decent shower ? Real challenge! I will hardly consider this room a 2 stars . Forgot to mention that the paid tariff was for minimum 5 stars superior due to booking during Gaubudenvolkfest ( excellent festival!!!) It was a very bad experience and hope we’ll help others … And I could continue…It was the worst and expensive accommodation for the ‘services’ provided, in years. If somebody will insist to book at Villa Boutique, at least to refuse the rooms in the historical building. I’ m wondering what are the German standards giving 4 stars to a 2 stars at best building/ hotel? Thank you all for reading!
To preface the low rating, the staff at the hotel was fantastic, they were friendly and did everything they could to make the guests happy.
We arrived at the hotel in the evening (~19:45), well within the stated reception hours. We walked to the front door to find it locked, and with a note that the reception is currently not staffed and for those arriving late or in case of emergency to call a phone number. I called the number and it was answered immediately and after waiting a few more minutes someone came to open the door and check us in. So first impressions were already poor as I don't recall having been "locked out" of the hotel lobby on arrival before.
During check-in, I had to re-enter the same details I already filled out online, and was offered to pre-pay the room to expedite checking (which we did). We also paid for parking for the two nights we stayed, which for a hotel is priced fairly at 10 Euro / night.
We then put our stuff away in the hotel room and went to the onsite restaurant where we already had made reservations. We were seated at a nice table and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately from then on the experience was average at best. First we got the wrong wine then one of the pizzas we ordered came with a topping (tomato slices) missing. The pizza, the pasta, and the dessert we ordered was nothing to remember, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
Also, while we could pay with American Express in the hotel, it wasn't accepted in the restaurant, and the contactless payment method was broken. So we had to return to the room to get our physical credit card. At least the staff was very friendly and came to the room with us and the payment terminal so we wouldn't have to walk back. After the payment terminal crashed two or three times we could finally pay.
(We stayed in the new wing of the hotel) The room itself looks nice, but has some odd design choices, like a mirror that extends all the way to the edge of the sink. Using the sink splashed water over the mirror, or not having a place to put the soap, so we just put it next to the sink which just made a mess on the counter.
On the second day we came back in the evening (~19:30) only to find that all the parking spots had been taken. Apparently the paid hotel parking is shared with the restaurant parking. With the limited parking it isn't surprising that the parking filled up quickly. So we parked in the grass, which based on all the tire marks there others have done as well.
During the last day we received an email with an option to pay to expedite checkout, which we already did on check in, so it raised the question if the payment went through or not.
The location of the hotel is pretty good, it is within walking distance of downtown and very close to the railroad station. The room was quite and bed comfortable.
Considering that the hotel is trying to be more than just an average hotel, I feel that while the infrastructure is good, the processes around the guest experience needs improvement.
