Reviews
At the time of my visit (early October 2025), the cafeteria was closed—possibly undergoing renovation—so there was no onsite dining. Fortunately, this is compensated by the very close proximity of at least three grocery stores, including one with its own bakery/coffee counter.
The rooms are fairly spacious and all located on the upper (third) floor of an otherwise nondescript building. The Wi-Fi was perfectly adequate for checking email and streaming my favorite Netflix series. I happened to be down with a nasty cold and fever, so that was the only form of entertainment I could manage. On that note, a basic amenity such as an electric kettle or coffee machine would have been extremely welcome. A workaround was negotiated with the front-desk staff—trilingual, helpful, and perhaps extra accommodating because we shared a mother tongue. They kindly allowed me to use their electric kettle in the reception area, and we even socialized a bit about expat life.
The “Royal” part of the hotel’s name may be slightly misleading for travelers expecting deluxe accommodations and could, perhaps, be reconsidered unless it is meant as an aspirational flourish.
The facility would also benefit from a laundry room, as the nearest commercial service is located two train stops away.
All that said, I can recommend this no-frills property to any budget traveler—students, solo explorers, or active seniors—who can comfortably rely on the surrounding public and commercial infrastructure and simply use the hotel as a decent, quiet place to sleep.
During our stay at this hotel, we encountered several serious issues:
1. The reception staff were rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional.
2. Card payment was refused, under the excuse that the terminal was not working, and I was required to pay in cash instead. After payment, the issuance of a receipt was delayed, with various excuses being made.
3. There was no daily room cleaning, no change of towels, and no basic hygiene products provided (soap, shower gel, etc.).
4. The room was dusty and poorly maintained, and the bed was not made during the entire stay.
5. Upon check-out, the staff behaved in an aggressive and unfriendly manner when returning the room key.
Overall, our experience was extremely disappointing. The hotel shows a complete lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and respect for guests.
I strongly advise other travelers to avoid this place.
I cant speak ukraninan or russian? The most of them there doesnt speak english! Or dutch wasnt many problems there! All fine and great
spray to remove the smell. When we came in found a bug and killed it. Within 10 minutes, we found the pillow full of dust. The pillow covered with dust. We asked for vacuum to clean the room and rejected. The worker suspected me tht I purposely stained the dust on the pillow. It was ridiculous. We left the room at 1am as we couldn't stand the dust and insects in the room.
I thoroughly recommend that you DO NOT stay here. An absolutely awful hotel, with frosty, bordering on rude staff who couldn't give a damn. The room is old and musty smelling, despite the window having been left open in the hope of clearing the smell, it needs a massive facelift here. The beds are cheap with bad mattresses and the shower head wouldn't face downwards and fell off when moved or turned on. The internet was so slow it was like being in 1995 and it was impossible to work on. They charged €85 and didn't offer breakfast. When I complained about the internet the receptionist just shrugged at me as if she really couldn't care less. There is, however a fairly good Greek restaurant just round the corner and an Edeka and Aldi right there. This is an absolutely shocking hotel that should be ashamed of the service and state of the place for what they charge. Life is short, so really, stay somewhere/anywhere else.
Clean beds. The rest is very stained and old. A little overpriced but probably because of location close to A10. OK for sleeping 7 hours for driving next day.
