elaya hotel hannover city, Trademark by Wyndham in Hannover

There's a 'good' and 'bad' section below, scroll if you're short on time. I've stayed in super cheap and super fancy hotels, and I know a very simple or modest hotel can be a wonderful stay if the hotel shows that it cares about your stay. I did not get that feeling at the Elaya. One more thing: sure, hotel prices during Hannover Messe are expensive, but given the quality of a number of things (see comments), I felt like I was thoroughly ripped off paying more 400 EUR per night. The main issue is the lack of attention to simple, inexpensive, but important details (see notes further on). The good: friendly staff (thank you Martin for arranging a fan and thank you Kim for the extra 30 minutes for a late check-out), decent mattress, ok breakfast (but, again, at 160 EUR per breakfast, could be better), decent decoration and set-up at breakfast, ok coffee machine, good location. The bad: as you read this, remember that they charged me a bit more than EUR 400 per night... no air-conditioning, you cannot lock the room's door from the inside and there is no "let me sleep" sign to hang on the outside so the cleaner basically comes in whenever she wants (...), only one pillow (there was an extra one in the wardrobe, but it had no pillow case, lol), broken shelf in wardrobe left inside (either fix it or remove it), super tight bathroom (room #10), you cannot lock the bathroom door, mold in the shower door's silicon parts, two shampoo bottles but only one shower gel (all very cheap and funny-smelling) but no soap, no safe, no fridge, there is a 1cm gap a the bottom of the room's door meaning you will hear everything in the corridor (noisy neighbors, doors slamming, etc.), two work stations but only one chair (?), cables that could easily be hidden behind the tv unnecessarily hang down in full view, part of the curtain had come off the rail and hung sloppily but nobody bothered to fix it, the inside of the toilet looks awful, a nail on the wall where probably some painting hung in the past was left there and painted over rather than pulled out... etc. It's that kind of attention to simple details that cost nothing or little and tell me that the hotel is treating its business as a money-making machine, not a proper activity in the business of making travellers happy to stay and make money from it. It's a pity, because it could easily be much better. I advise you to only book this hotel if you have no other choice.

It suppose to be a very good price/value hotel close to Hannover city center.
Unfortunately the staff is not that helpful and available.
They were not able to provide the bill at the time when I checked out.
Later they sent one with incorrect data. I requested a new bill with corrected data, however did not get any response.
Also called them but noone answered the phone.
I cannot recommend it for business purpose.

Lock box code didn’t work, sat outside the hotel at 1am for over half an hour whilst it was sorted.
Friend had a seizure whilst outside and hit her head on the pavement. When in rooms one colleague power went out and had to be switched to another room, my room was dirty on the floor and my feet were full of dust and dirt. Overall just really poor for the money we paid

The room is very small with Single bed in comparison to the price 120€/night
No one was in the reception and they provide me an access Code which doesn't work and I had to struggel for half an hour and calling them many times
It appears I was not the only guest to Face this problem at the end
Very disappointing

Very messy
The hotel is messy. There is clutter in many places, including cleaning supplies (cloths, cleaning agents), garbage bags with used bed linen, cardboard boxes with products for room replenishment. This is not only when they are cleaning. The vacuum cleaners are just pushed into the corner of the hallway. There are empty plant boxes and empty refrigerators. Room cleaning is very poor. The hotel appears very worn. The staff are polite and seem service-minded. But their appearance, clothing, and general behavior are not what you would expect from a service business or even a medium-quality hotel. For example, the reception is empty while the receptionist is smoking on the street. Breakfast was acceptable.
There is no coffee maker or similar in the rooms. Soap and shampoo bottles are maybe half full if you're lucky. The good thing about them not tidying up is that you can find an extra bottle of mineral water in the hallway from the cardboard boxes.
The location is good. Although the hotel stay is not expensive, it is still far too costly for the value provided.
Overall, the hotel seems poorly and unprofessionally managed. It is not the worst - but definitely among the worst hotels I have stayed at.
