Avithos Resort Hotel in Svoronata

This hotel was exceptional, from start to finish of our time there. Beautifully maintained and eco-conscious, they struck the right balance between giving you what you need and trying to take care of the planet. The rooms are spacious and well thought out for families, with the usual amenities available along with towels for the pool area. The hotel is extremely well kept, with lots of olive and orange trees making it smell lovely in the morning. The layout of the hotel ensures that the pool and bar area are right in the centre, of the resort which made us feel a bit better about letting our son walk around. They have a family of turtles on site which the children all loved, so that was a nice touch! Overall, it was a lovely, relaxing place to visit, with friendly staff and housekeeping teams, access to a beach close by, the ability to book a rental car, take private tours and a great variety of food, drinks and ice cream available at the bar. We would definitely return to Avithos.

This is our 'go to' place for relaxation. Wonderful quiet atmosphere. Fabulous spacious rooms with either a balcony or small garden patio. Avithos is spotless and is situated on the outer edge of the small village of Savronata approximately 10 mins transfer fro the airport. Flights arriving and leaving the airport go by with any intrusion or indeed noise. It's so peaceful The service is beyond reproach and nothing is too much trouble Always a smile from Christina. The swimming pool is large and clean surrounded by sunbeds. Breakfast is by the pool although each room has its own small kitchen with fridge, hot plate and microwave to self catering is an option. There are plenty of options for evening meals with several local tavernas within walking distance. Avithos beach with its two Tavernas is a lovely spot to see the sunset and eat. Ai Helis beach is a short walk and is great for sunbathing and swimming. We first stayed at Avithos Resort 10 years ago and return each year

Nice hotel apartments, nice staff, but a bit remote. If you come here I'd suggest hiring a car. At only 10 minutes from the airport and only an average of 15 minute walk to the restaurants, I would still suggest hiring a car. This is a self catering hotel. Breakfast is around 22 Euros per person a day which is expensive. We did it the first day and it was over priced for what it was. The local shop is well stocked but not cheap and a 20 minute walk if it is not too hot. A hire car may find somewhere cheaper. Nice pool, great staff but the bar is reasonably expensive at 7 Euros a beer and the food is pricey. The Bar menu is the same all day. We had lunch and dinner once. Nice food, but pricey for what it was. If the bar and food prices were a bit more reasonable then they would get used more.

We had an excellent stay at this lovely relaxing hotel. There isn’t much to stay as we agree mostly with everything that has been said. Our room was on the ground floor with a terrace with table, chairs, and two deck chairs. Our favourite restaurant was Esperides which was a short walk away. Every meal we had there was excellent. Crazy George and the Bakery next door were good too. We went into Argostoli twice on the bus which you get at the crossroads a short walk from the hotel. Unfortunately we had a couple of days of bad weather but were able to walk between showers. There was also Netflix and other streaming channels on the tv should you want to watch them.

Absolutely amazing hotel! Feels like luxury but on the same time homey. Beautiful and specious rooms. Well equipped with all the essentials. A lot of space at the pool. Definitely staying again next time I’m in Kefalonia
8 minutes drive from the airport. 13 minutes walk to the Sarris winery.

I would give this hotel 3.5 if I could but I don’t believe it deserves a 3 so 4 it is! We have just returned from a fortnight at this hotel. Whilst overall it was a pleasant stay (apart from the weather which is beyond anyone’s control!), there were quite a few things which could be improved on. The hotel and gardens are lovely. The plants and surroundings are very well maintained and the hotel is very stylish. We liked seeing the tortoises in their grassy area! However, I believe that in many areas, the hotel prioritises style over substance and comfort. The seating area in the reception looks great but is mostly very uncomfortable. Our room looked very stylish but I couldn’t believe that there wasn’t a single drawer to put away our stuff. There was open hanging space but otherwise, we had to live out of our suitcase for two weeks which wasn’t great. Also, there was a huge light shade over our little dining table and more often than not, we hit our heads on it when we got up! Around the pool area, there were a few cabanas with thick cushions on them. These were very comfortable but the other sunbeds only had thin mattresses which I found very uncomfortable. There were several notices dotted around saying that reserving sunbeds was not allowed and that the staff would remove any items left. People did of course take no notice of this and we didn’t see any staff removing them. Highly annoying as always! We had a car the whole time we were here, which we would recommend. Restaurants start closing at the beginning of October although some do stay open. We can recommend Esperides, Fois and Sea Salt which are all within fairly easy walking distance of the hotel. We needed our phone torches on the way back though as the lighting on the roads surrounding the hotel aren’t great. We didn’t use the hotel bar or restaurant as it seemed very overpriced. Overall, a pleasant holiday but we wouldn’t return to this hotel.

Just returned after a lovely 10’night break away at Avithos Resort in Svoronata All the staff are great, from Christina and her colleagues on reception, the amazing ladies at breakfast and running the pool bar, thank you so much, the lady at breakfast, from Romania I think, we must say how lovely she was, and apologise we didn’t get time to thank her before we left, a great asset to Avithos Resort, so please Niko, Christina, can you please pass on our thanks and appreciation The rooms and cleaning staff along the entire resort are terrific and it’s spotless, thank you the food and drinks at the pool bar are of high quality, if a little expensive, the pork souvlaki we had twice, was really very good The pool is so good, and lovely views up to the villages and mountains beyond. Can’t wait to return, the only negative to be improved on, with all the other great things are the sun beds around the pool are very uncomfortable and so thin, definitely time for a new thick batch, after all this is where most guests spend alot of the day, some great new sun beds around the pool, be amazing Thanks to all the team, Ben & April , see you next year

A very relaxing small resort hotel. From first booking with Nisha (who is an asset to the hotel being very friendly and helpful) you know you are staying at an excellent hotel. The rooms are beautiful and individual with a wide variety of types to choose from. The resort is laid out like a small village with a meandering path from reception through immaculate gardens to your room which are in small units of around 4 rooms per building. Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely pool with plenty of loungers and no reservations. There are also loungers dotted around the resort if you wish to find your complete tranquillity away from anyone else. If you decide to have breakfast there is an excellent choice with seating inside and out. There is a bar and small choice of meals. Comfortable sofas outside to sit late into the evening. Plenty of free parking in their car park opposite. A very quiet area of Cephalonia but within a few minutes easy drive of the airport. There are many good restaurants within 5 - 30 mins walk of your room, just remember a torch if returning after dark along the lanes! This a highly recommended luxury hotel for a peaceful holiday.

Very clean, peaceful and relaxing place. Our suite was very spacious with lots of storage and room for yoga/ relaxing when the weather wasn’t great! Big and comfortable bed and pillows. The pool is huge, very clean, with plenty of sunbeds. Nisha on reception was wonderful. Thank you.

We have just returned from a super relaxing 5 night break at the Avithos Resort, our first trip to Kefalonia. Everything worked beautifully, less than 10 minutes transfer from the airport, loads of help and suggestions from Christina on reception, everything you need (mini-market, restaurants, bars and beaches) within walking distance. Small, pretty hotel with plenty of available sunbeds around the pool. Lovely gardens and a great room (ours was a deluxe family studio). We very much enjoyed walking everywhere, but many guests had hire cars (which were available locally on short notice). Suggest taking a torch for walking home down the quiet, but unlit country lanes. Two of the nearest resturants (Esperides and Sea Salt) are truly outstanding (need to book even in late September). Highly recommend.
