What an amazing place, stayed for 2 nights as a mini get away. The rooms are modern, clean and well maintained, showers are hot and plenty of pressure. Only criticism is that there are no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms... Not a problem if you in the main house but for us in the lodge rooms, in really bad weather that we had, it made it a big ordeal to get a drink (hence the 4 stars rather than 5)!!
The food was lovely, if basic. The staff were lovely and did everything possible to get us out when we got snowed in (one hour and we were out). The views were stunning. The building was lovely and warm. I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful venue, would highly recommend. Had been doing the ring road in a van that would last couple of days was so wonderful to come into such a cleanup, aesthetic, and calm environment to spend the night again. The breakfast was a big highlight, it's not very often a hotel breakfast tastes like a home cooked meal!

Excellent value for money, and the included breakfast was good. The rooms are perhaps a bit on the small side, but overall, it's recommendable.

It was such a quaint place, but unfortunately all week we were there it was under construction, so noise from hammering and drilling was very annoying since this was booked specifically for meditation and writing of my book.

^^ It's a really nice place, but I'm careful of bed bugs. I got bitten in 5 places, so I bought some ointment and applied it while traveling. Other than that, it's a great place to stay in every way.

I am sitting in the very open area facing the ranges that make up the main view of this very nice guest house 26 km from Bogarnes. While not quite in the town, it's not a long way off, and I didn't have a map, but simply found my way here without any problem at all. The folks sent an email with directions but I'd already left for Bogarnes so didn't get it until I was already sitting here enjoying the view. The way out, once one leave the main highway, is quite pretty, and one simply needs to respect the gravel road and not drive too far. There is a sign the les you know where to turn off. On the outside it may not seem like much but you have a lovely surprise with the warm woods, nice furnishings, pleasant surroundings and bright clean everything. The couple had laid out coffee and some cake, plenty of things to choose from to drink. They saw me coming down the road and turned around to follow me in, good thing as I didn't have the instructions to get the key. They left me here on my own to enjoy the absolute and gorgeous stillness, the view and the very pleasant light that fills the place. For me as a writer, after three weeks of epic riding with Eldhestar, this is a great way to rest, recuperate and catch up.

We had dinner at their cafe/ restaurant and ordered fish and chips. It was served to us uncooked. We brought it back to the staff and they asked if we wanted to change to another item on the menu or for a new batch of fish and chips. We opted for the latter. Although they did apologise, I said a discount to the bill will make it better, as they took up to 30 mins to serve the UNCOOKED food to us. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy to begin with. Furthermore, all of their food are frozen, hence it does not take that long to prepare. We stayed in this hotel booked by our tour group Trolls expedition, which apparently is affiliated with Our Hotels group. I gave the feedback to my guide, and the staff overheard, replying “We have already apologised many times” with annoyance.

Then when I got the bill of ISK4400 for only a portion of frozen fish & chips, I tried asking for a discount again. To which she replied, “you are only paying for 1 share, we have already apologised and we are all humans, we make mistakes too.”

I understand that humans make mistakes, but it definitely would have been nice if some discount would have been given for such mistakes made. We are talking about consuming raw frozen fish here. If anything were to happen to us consuming it, we have to be sent to the hospital for treatment. Which in Iceland at night is hard to get to. Also, unclean raw fish can give us Parasitic, bacterial or even allergic reactions. Who is going to be responsible for it!! And obviously I should only be paying for a share, as that’s the only thing I consumed!

Also, we were not receiving wifi from our room. I gave the feedback to the staff and she replied, “that’s the reception issue, there’s nothing I can do about it.” So am I suppose to use my data for the next 2 days while I’m staying in your hotel??!!

Unfortunately I did not take a photo of the uncooked fish as I was thinking if they gave some discount, I would have let it go. But, I had eyewitnesses, my tour group mates. At the way they responded to this incident, like it was no big deal and with the service attitude, something needs to be done seriously, incase the next person falls sick from the food.

Great service huh….. nice feeling to be on a HOLIDAY. I’ll be writing in to the hotel and tour group to see what their reply is …..

We visited in March 2025. The check-in was easy and quick, the room was clean and the breakfast was nice. However, our room wasn’t very quiet: the wind outside was very loud and you could also hear the other visitors in the house sometimes. Because of that, I would recommend earplugs. Other than that, it was fine & we enjoyed our stay.
