Kast Guesthouse in Budir

Very friendly staff. Beautiful view from the rooms, large windows. The room is a little tight for luggage, just can't have it open the whole time. Included a kettle in the room. Bathroom is spacious but the sink it tiny, also had a heated towel rack. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast included toast, jams, meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, tomato, cereal (lots of milk options), yogurt, juices and coffee (started at 730am?). We went at 730 on the first day and it was very busy when we left, but the next day it wasn't nearly as busy. We didn't have dinner there as it was extra, but there also isn't anything very close nearby. Lots of parking. We thought it would be a darker area for the night sky but the school is very close and gives off a lot of light but you don't have to drive down far to find somewhere darker. Overall very nice stay for the area.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is absolutely stunning, surrounded by majestic mountains and a serene lake that creates a peaceful atmosphere. Horses grazing nearby added a charming touch to the scenery.
What truly made the experience unforgettable was the expansive sky—perfect for watching the northern lights when the weather is clear. It’s one of the best spots I’ve stayed at for enjoying nature and the magic of the aurora.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility and breathtaking views.

We had a great stay in Kast guesthouse (triple room with private bathroom). It's a basic guesthouse with basic breakfast but as usually in Iceland you travel all day and need cozy, comfy place to stay for a night, this was perfect. Nice girl from Romania was friendly and fast with service at the dinner, we had lamb and cake, all delicious. And after that we had the best sleep in long time, very comfortable matrasses, darkness in the room and all quiet. Very recomended if you travel around Snæfellsnes. We woke up to the beatiful view at the dark mountains with clouds covering their tops which was just a bonus. Also lovely Czech girl at the breakfast, which was basic but fine for us.

Everything was perfect. Our bedroom over faced the mountains. The shared bathroom was only shared with another room. We had diner there and it was excellent. Breakfast was also very good

Cozy and comfortable. This was definitely one of our better stays in Iceland. Staff was pleasant, rooms were clean, spacious, with beautiful views and there was a sweet kitty.

Pros : Great guesthouse, very clean and functional. The blackout curtain were quite good compared to other guesthouses in our trip. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was fine.

Cons : there's no common room except the restaurant area, so its only tables and you're in the way of the staff.

We didn't arrive till 2230, we checked right in. Blackout curtains on the windows were appreciated as this time of year it's barely dust at midnight. The beds were very comfortable. Very clean and tidy. Breakfast was provided. Marmalade and strawberry jam was delicious. Lots of options for everyone to choose from. Great selection of tea as well as hot coffee with non dairy options for creamer. Definitely would definitely stay again. It was quite overcast when we left the next morning. On a clear day you can see the ocean from the front.
