At night we had dinner at ‘The Dome’ which was a restaurant at the rooftop. As we held a glass of wine each, we wondered, what we should toast to. Arun held my hand, our first form of physical contact in days, and said, “I have been asking myself since months why I had married you, and today I know. I realized that marriage is not about making you into my clone – but rather looking at your differences and enjoying them. I want to accept you as are and try to make you into the image of you that I had. After all you are beautiful, as you are.” He gently clinked his glass against mine and murmured, “To us.” I had tears in my eyes as I nodded in agreement. Neither of us said another word. We didn’t need to. That weekend, at Inter Continental, we found something that we had lost for quite some time: the reasons why we had married each other.
