Hotel La Torre in Sauze D'oulx

The hotel is rates a 4 star but unfortunately while the rooms and building is impressive, the food and service is totally un acceptable, food is boring, bland, repeditive and more of the quality of a 2 star it reminded me of school canteed food ithe the breakfast swimming in fat, going out to eat is the best option as it showed by the empty tables. The drinks were double what you would expect to pay 10 euro for a simple beer you are charged for anything including plain,water with the evening meal, we asked for a simple tea bag and they wanted 3 euros just for the bag, its laughable. None of our group would ever stay here again

I’m giving this hotel a BIG zero. It’s old, run down + dirty. I had a total of 12 people + nearly everyone had a problem with their room - from clothes being left in drawers to showers over flowing. The carpets. were filthy, stained. Paper cups at breakfast. DO NOT STAY HERE. You will be so disappointed. View great.

Disappointing Stay
Noisy and hot the whole night.
I have selected this hotel because of the announced fitness and spa.
Both have been closed without any prior notice.

BE AWARE THEY DO NOT CARE I have a 9 year old with severe allergies and they refused to offer me a freezer to store his medical ice block plus some space in a freezer for his special bread and desserts. They also refused to offer me a small space in a fridge, however after me begging they accepted to offer some fridge space but refused to offer freezer space. As you may understand, with a child with allergies, I need to take many of my own items on holiday which need either freezing or refrigerating. I find this terrible that they don't care and refuse this service. I also offered to pay. I have never ever faced this problem before and have always been offered a freezer and refrigerator either behind the bar or even in the kitchen. This is not a difficult mother, this is a mother trying to keep her child safe, which has never been an issue in the past. I am writing this review to warn people who have allergies that they really don't care. Such a simple thing for them is such an important thing for us. I am so sad and never expected this.

We have just returned from spending a week in what is advertised as a 'charming' hotel, but turned out to be the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in. Various large school groups were staying there at the same time, leading to occasionally raucous times, with unsupervised children running up and down the spiral staircase, shouting at each other, often blocking the two staircases in the entrance area while waiting. Due to the unusual design of the building, the noise could be heard within our bedroom. Although the website says the bar is 'an ideal place to relax', this was generally impossible because of the noise generated. Some of the furniture is very dated, for example one of the legs is missing from one of the sofas! Wi-Fi is advertised as being available throughout the hotel, but didn't work inside our room (409), and despite mentioning this to the reception staff on two occasions, no-one bothered to let us know why it didn't work for the entire week. The food at breakfast time was excellent, with a wide range of pastries, cereals and cooked meals. However, evening meals were disappointing, as whilst there was a good range of cold food (meats, cheese, seafood etc.) the 'hot' food could only be described as tepid at best. I mentioned this to the manager, who said this was the first time anyone had complained. I have subsequently read numerous reviews commenting on this. The problem appears to be due to a lack of effective facilities to keep the food hot in the buffet area. Because of this, we decided to eat out on two occasions, at our expense. We were also disappointed at having to pay for water with evening meals €3 per bottle!), when it is freely available from the dispensers in the restaurant at breakfast time. Surprisingly, we weren't informed of the charge in advance, or at the time it was served. Also, coffee wasn't available in the restaurant in the evenings, and they wouldn't allow us to bring it up from the bar downstairs. Again, this was freely available with breakfast. The machines are deliberately switched off after breakfast. I can only assume this is to maximise profits. Finally, despite the website saying the bar is open 24 hours a day, it was only open from 8pm to midnight on weekdays. On a positive note, we received very helpful service from Sylvia on the reception desk, who always greeted customers with a smile.
