Reviews
Despite a €2 per person service fee, the service was non-existent. The waiter spoke absolutely zero English. It took him an eternity just to write down an order of 3 pizzas and 3 sodas. When the drinks arrived, the glasses were visibly dirty and smelled awful. He didn't even bother to open the sodas—just dropped them on the table like a self-service cafeteria.
Since we were the only table, the pizzas came out quickly, but they were terrible. We ordered two Margaritas and one Vegetarian. The crusts weren't actually crusts—they were completely flat, undercooked, and soft. The dough tasted like pure flour with zero salt or flavor. On one pizza, the cheese was stale and lazily layered all the way to the edge. The other two weren't much better; the cheese was rubbery and intensely salty, and the toppings were unevenly thrown on.
When we finished, we asked to take our two leftover halves to go. The waiter literally brought out an almost unassembled pizza box. He just stood there holding it while we had to put our own pizza inside and assemble the cardboard box ourselves.
Paying a service fee to do the waiter's job for him while eating undercooked, flavorless dough in an empty, eerie restaurant is not my idea of a good night out. Avoid this place. Maybe the hotel and bar is better i dont know.
We booked this ‘Hotel, Club & Villa’ through Corendon Airlines, which sold this location exactly to its title. The advertising photos were an apparent photo-shopped image. From the airport to Marina Manna was a bumpy 1.5hours drive from the airport and it sits in the middle of desolation!
I noted Marina Manna Restaurant menu was ONLY Pizza, pizza and more Pizza (not good) and guest are required to make a reservation for dinner – that served only 20 different types of Pizza with 2 Other meal options: 1 fish and 1 meat - which of course the cook was in no mood to prepare, but Pizza.
To identify the type of service you paid for, a wristband is locked on to you for the entire stay. These colours array from green, purple, dark blue, and white. We had green (breakfast only).
1st night Dinner: We decided to go brave! We ordered my husband the Pizza and I a fish dinner (cook could not comply) so I decided I will have wine for a meal. I requested a glass of merlot and my husband white wine, the server returned – no merlot, so we decided on a bottle of white wine to pass the time, the serve again returned, no bottle of wine, but we can have a glass each! Ridiculous! That behaviour did not anger me, but made me very uncomfortable and more observant.
1st day breakfast served 3 types of cereal, dried packaged biscuits, cold salted bread, cheap processed, watered -down ham, salami and the poorest version of cheese (no flavour, no texture). If you are a sweet tooth, they insulted the croissant by filling it with a tarty marmalade or heavily powdered sugar. Coffee, which should have been the highlight of the Italian morning came not freshly brewed, but out of a machine. The juice, from a machine and it was more syrup than vitamin C. This disappointed my expectations even more. For the 6 mornings the breakfast was the same: cold, uninviting, repetitive, and boring!!
Breakfast time 8:00A -9:15A, and if you are late, you are turned away (I can atest to witnessing this at least twice). True customer dis-service!
In my opinion, this place appears to cater for the very, very Italian seniors who wants time away from their routine or home community. The ‘villa’ was heavily populated with seniors and once I saw them gathered in the barely used ‘Club’ spaces for a game of cards. Talk about unused spaces and waste.
The overall Marina Manna entire set up was disappointing, The pool water was uninviting and the supposedly jacuzzi was literally dead.
The hacienda style villa is a 1 bedroom, walk from the front step into the bedroom and behind it was the bathroom.
You had silent hours 1P-4P (as if we came to vacation at a monestary). No cable TV, Netflix, Youtube or access...it was all blocked and you are forced to watch local channels. Wifi yes, but even that was not strong enough to support my streaming desires.
Left to our own devices, we rented a car and spent the entire day driving to find something of interest (besides the beaches) and back again to reset, because the drive completely you!
Just to add, Sardinia has no highways to shorten the drive, and there are no tourist route (unless you wish to spend 8 hours driving to and back from Calgari where most of the activities are).
In my closing:
To the dubious Corendon Airline, I wish to thank you for opening my eyes wider -NEVER again on your airline!
The Mangement of Marina Manna you have A LOT to learn about the hospitality, customer expectations and experience business. Look towards catering for diverse guests. Meet their needs and expectations as you insist them to meet yours. Present your guest with the genunity and meaningfulness of what Sardinia really is, and not a cheap cut!
To the readers...this is NO PLACE to invest in as a holiday or even an overnight!
Beware of holiday offers from Corendon Airline. It might just be better to walk, than accept any offer from them.
I'm concerned by the defensive response! As I said the rooms were ok especially the bathroom. They had a strong smell of air freshner, so must be cleaned but most nice hotels don't have a strong smell of anything! The lights were all off, we sat in the gloom with very little to eat, that's the reality. Look I only bother leaving a review to help other travellers and I absolutely would not recommend this place. There are far nicer hotels we stayed in the area for the same price point. Nothing exaggerated it is what it is. Poor breakfast, OK rooms, older structure. Bathroom in the room is very new. Aircon good. Wifi not functioning at all, anywhere. Anyway, I suggest rather than trying to deny guest reviews as untrue they listen to feedback and improve!
