Ai Baretti B&B in Naples

Poor facilities and far from the city center.

As a reply to the owner’s reply: The facilities mentioned in the booking site (booking.com) was different. There was a broken washing machine, broken shower and no air conditioning in the room. The breakfast didn’t meet the standard of B&Bs breakfasts (one coffee and one packed croissants!!). For the location, it was around 3 metro stops or 45 minutes by walking distance to the Garibaldi station or Vai dei Tribunali street.
Instead of wishing no more guests like me, try to reach the standards of B&B and no more fake information about facilities.
Ps. Poor breakfast and broken facilities doesn’t have anything to do with an ancient structure.

Don't fall for this scam. I'm not even sure this place really exists!

After having booked and paid for the accommodation the previous week, I receive an email from a "Renato" (supposedly the owner) as I'm at the gate waiting for my flight, letting me know that "There is an error in the booking, the structure is closed I spoke to Expedia, I can host you in another structure in the historic center or alternatively you can call Expedia to cancel this reservation". Pretty bad that this was canceled last minute, but mistakes happen, and was clearly a small business. I told him I wasn't interested in the room offered, and managed to easily find another (better) accommodation for a similar price around the area. So, in my mind, as long as I get a refund, it's all fine.

I contacted the booking service used (Expedia) to let them know about this cancelation. I won't go into the many exchanges, but their final decision, given 3 weeks after the fact (since they couldn't reach "Renato"), was that: "We regret to inform you that B&B Ai baretti will not be able to provide a refund on this booking. They have denied penalty waiver as per the policy. In accordance to the hotel’s policy, a full penalty will be charged and no refund would be initiated." Ha. What a bunch of crooks. Luckily the charge will get canceled by my credit card company.

There's plenty of good options of B&Bs and hotels around the area. Stay away from this one.
