Hotel Smeraldo in Praiano

We had a Fantastic stay here in Hotel Smeraldo Sept. 29 - Oct 2, for four nights. I travelled with my son and it was home away from home. The location, it was great close proximity to all of the other towns of Amalfi Coast, the views was out of this world. Our room was very comfortable & looked out to the sea. A beautiful site to see.
The hotel manager (Giorgio) was very friendly knowledgeable, informative, & hospitable.
We had delicious (freshly baked croissants) breakfast every morning, and had a few nights dinner there, it was delicious.
Thank you to the owners of the hotel, Giorgio, your valued time spent with us & also thank you to Serena who served us in the restaurant.

I don’t even know where to begin on how much I recommend this place! The family that runs it are such amazing and sweet people- very patient with ignorant Americans like myself that butcher every word lol. The rooms were designed with so much attention and love in every detail- the hand painted tiles are gorgeous, every room has a view that is unbelievable and the showers are so roomy!

The AC is so wonderful after a day of exploring, a commodity we don’t take for granted. If you’re considering staying in Positano, do yourself a favor and book Smeraldo so you can have a genuine and authentic Amalfi experience. Positano and amalfi are an easy and inexpensive bus ride away, so staying in Praiano is like an oasis, plus the hotel sits right above a great beach club.

We had an unforgettable 4-night stay at Hotel Smeraldo in Praiano.
Our sea-view room exceeded every expectation – spacious, spotless, and offering breathtaking views of Positano. The lemon-themed décor was such a charming touch and made our stay feel even more special in this beautiful region.

The restaurant was another highlight, with stunning views, delicious pizza, and genuinely attentive service. The staff were always kind and made sure we had everything we needed.

On our last day, after mentioning that we were on our honeymoon, we were surprised with a complimentary cake before our departure – such a thoughtful and memorable gesture.

We would return to this hotel without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast.

Overall this is a great hotel for a fair price.

Some rooms (like mine) have a great view, while everyone can enjoy their breakfast facing Positano. It's family run and everyone working there is friendly. I highly recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to come back!

A few points of criticism that you may want to be aware of:

1) Noise from the other rooms can be an issue. I could clearly hear others having conversations at all hours, including doors slamming and furniture moving around.

2) If you're facing the ocean, you will be greeted by the morning's incoming light (even though it doesn't face the sun). If you're a light sleeper like me, you will be up around then since the curtains don't completely black out the incoming light.

3) The elevator is tiny, but works well. If you have multiple people in your group or have a lot of bags, this may be an issue.

4) The hallways are dark unless you hit the light switch (they turn off after some time). I didn't see the light switches until a day or so after I checked in. Not a huge deal, but more of a FYI

Just book this hotel asap! There’s so much I can say about how amazing our stay was with this family-run hotel, but it has been mentioned here in previous reviews. My husband and I stopped here first on our honeymoon, and didn’t stop wishing we had just stayed here longer. The service with Rafaele and Giorgio was exceptional. They helped us with everything from parking, rentals, excursions, and even a wine bottle opener to enjoy a bottle on our patio. It’s so easily accessible. The views are great. Food was amazing. We will be returning here to Praiano!

The rooms and views are absolutely breathtaking! Such an experience staying there absolutely fabulous. The owners so educated and kind they would do absolutely everything to make you feel so welcome. We feel sad to leave today and we will most defined lay come back . We stayed at different hotels before both in Praiano and Positano and this one is definitely the winner .

For all of you who are looking for an undiscovered gem on the Amalfi Coast of Italy away from all the hordes, there is a stunningly beautiful small town awaiting your discovery. The name of the town is Praiano and it is situated midway between Positano and Amalfi. In fact, it looks right at the terraced beauty of Positano with Capri visible in the distance. Within this small town is another fantastic discovery to be made and that is the Hotel Smeraldo. It is a beautiful, clean, spacious hotel with a very fine decor of mostly local accessories. The owner, Pasquale, his wife and staff are absolutely fantastic. They are there for their guests from the early morning until late at night. They are always looking to see that all of the needs of their guests are met. In fact, because I had to leave very early one morning, Pasqaule went out of his way to be up and to provide me with some coffee and rolls so that I could have some breakfast before I left. Fantastic! The rooms are actually on the floors below the main dining room/balcony which offer just stunning views of Positano while you dine or have a cocktail. Each room has it's own enclosed balcony so you can sit and watch the sun set over the mountains of the coast. Everything is clean and well cared for with a great attention to detail, not only in the hotel but for each of the guests as well. Go to Praiano, go to Hotel Smeraldo see the Amalfi Coast like you could not have imagined in the comfort of a very nice hotel with a very attentive owner and staff.

Beautiful terrace, top class restaurant, perfect seafood and deserts, relaxing atmosphere. Just what we needed after a hot and busy day in Positano.

Pasquale is incredible! We stayed in the off-season, yet he and his family took great care of us (often times as the only people in the restaurant we had the best Italian food we've ever tasted - and we've lived in Italy for about a year). The view is incredible. Don't hesitate to book a room.
Note: there's not a great deal to do in the town, so rent a scooter and see the whole Amalfi coast.

Our stay at the Hotel was more than amazing. The hotel is owned by an incredible family who were always there in case of help or any questions. The view from the hotel was stunning and that’s where you can enjoy your breakfast and dinner. The room was always kept clean and the owners always made sure the room had all the necessities. The hotel also has a little and well maintained garden where you can relax or work while observing the coast. The position is perfect as you can reach Positano or Amalfi within 20 minutes( the bus stop is just in front of the hotel).
There are also a series of beautiful beaches around the hotel. Overall, my sisters and I had a comfortable stay and I would recommend this place to anyone who want to experience the Amalfi Coast in the best possible way!!.
