City Guest House in Rome

Someone for real came and opened my door with a key when i was in the bathroom naked. I think it was someone working there AND IT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!

i however think the young girl in the reception when i arrived was very sweet and her English was good enough for us to understand each other.

I was very confused when arriving. There is basically no sign saying this is the hotel. You must be there within their desk opening hours. Not sure when they open but before 18. You must take the elevator up to 5. Floor.

The room was very nice! Beautiful bed, tv and nice bathroom. There is even a full balcony with chairs.

I however think it is too easy to hear the neighbor room and i can hear everything they are doing especially when they are at the toilet.... Really not so nice.

I'm not sure what it means when they say aircondition. There is some kind of cooling system but it is the absolute bare minimum and will not keep your room at a decent low temperature in the hot summer.
The bath is nice and clean. Not that you do not get clean towels.

There is also no fridge which i think is a must at hotels.

We arrived in Rome and was under the impression City Guest House would be easy to park near. Luckily, we grabbed the last free space which also very conveniently, happened to be in front of the hotel.

We booked in, and had no problems with the staff, they all spoke English at least in basic fashion.

Got up to the room, the decor is very nice and modern. The floor tiles were Charcoal grey which hid the fact that they were dirty. When we walked out of the shower, we ended up with dirty feet within a few minutes!

Breakfast is served out on the roof terrace - cast aside any romantic vision you may have about lovely views of Rome though - this hotel is set in the thick of Rome's gritty suburbs. all you will see are blocks of flats and hills in the distance. The breakfast is ok but pretty basic - no complaints on this score though as the hotel is pretty cheap.

It is also about a 300 meter walk to Numidio Quadrato Linea A metro stop, which is convenient. The hotel would be well advised to hand out a surrounding area map to guests as if you don't get your bearings from the metro station immediately, you could get lost for a wee while.

Our stay plodded on until we encountered a drip coming from a ceiling light just outside the shower. we informed reception who told us they would get someone out to it. On our return from rome for the day, we noticed that the hotel's solution was to punch a hole through the ceiling to allow water to drip away from the light but still onto the floor. It turned out it was an air conditioning leak. the dripping drove me nuts, and I didnt get much sleep, and the hotels thin linen towels didnt disguise the noise of the dripping. And leaving the Air Conidtioning off wasnt an option as it was well over 30 C in Rome during our stay.

I expressed my unhappiness to the night manager, who said there is "nothing I can do now" (this was 11.30pm). Ok, fair comment, but why wasnt I offered a different room earlier in the day?

All in all despite the mentioned hiccups, this is a decent budget option for Rome. they just need to iron a few things out to improve things in my opinion. then, instead of being "ok, but some problems" it would be "above average"...

Not so good, Lack of staff. Rooms are decent, WIFI connection is worse and there was no lock for the bathroom door.
Breakfast provided was decent. Very bad lighting in the rooms.

The hotel is located in a peripheral area of the city, close to the metro but not really the best place to stay. The hotel is quite spartan and the service excellent.

Rooms are very nice. As the receiver has noted lady, however, that we are German, the room was increased in price about 100 Euro!!!!! The first night a long discussion and the Point of supply for HRL hotel was the price but the Breakfast (offer included) simply deleted. Very disappointed since it is actually a nice place. Such insolent but I can not see. First and last night. On the Internet reserving.
