Hotel Broletto Mantova - centro storico in Mantua

Had a reservation for 2 nights in October 2015. The hotel smelled so badly, I could not stay even one night, better to forfeit my prepayment. In addition, the staff was unfriendly and rude. If you're going to stay in Mantova, avoid this place. I discovered a very nice place with delightful personnel at the ABC Hotel.

In the bottom 1% of hotels we’ve stayed in. We had better accommodations in Milan (!) for ½ the price. Rooms are dated and in need of remodel. They are trying to disguise it by putting various frivolous objects everywhere. The refrigerator didn’t work. The bed felt like they’ve inherited it from the times of Inquisition. Breakfast was pathetic. There were only seven pieces of salami for protein. The salami was snatched immediately. Cakes were wonderful, but who wants to load on sugar for breakfast? I heard another patron complain bitterly about the lack of savory breakfast. Again, there were frivolous objects on a microscopically small table. There was no room to put anything on it. The bathroom looked like it belonged to a hostel in a developing world. There’s no one on duty in the evening. Good luck trying to open the door to the “hotel”. No one answers the phone when you call them in emergency. The street outside was noisy on a normal night. There was a fair one day. The noise from the vendors woke us up very early in the morning. The walls are paper thin. You can hear all the toilet flushes. As to the location... Mantova is a very small town. Anywhere you stay in this town would be within short walking distance to main places of interest. Rude owners. Complete nightmare.
