Colonna Country Club in Porto Cervo

Unfortunately our experience at the hotel was disappointing. Although the pool area and gardens are beautiful, several details negatively impacted our stay.

The room felt outdated and dark, with poor lighting, no vanity table, no full-length mirror, and very limited space. The bed was small and uncomfortable, the pillow was extremely hard, and I woke up every day with neck pain. When I requested an extra pillow (since there was only one per person), I received another equally hard and uncomfortable one. The bedside lamp on my side of the bed also didn’t work.

The bathroom was very small, with a tiny countertop that didn’t allow me to organize or spread out my personal items. When the bathroom light was turned on, it started blinking and made an unbearable buzzing noise.

By the pool, there was no service at all. No staff came by to offer drinks or anything else. To get a towel, we had to leave the pool area and pay a €5 deposit at the front desk. It would be much more convenient if this charge were added automatically to the room. We had to return to the room soaking wet just to get a towel.

At breakfast, the area was infested with bees, and my 2-year-old son was stung. No staff seemed to take action to deal with the situation.

The most disappointing moment was our interaction with a young receptionist when we asked about renting a boat. She showed no interest in helping us, interrupted our conversation to speak with another guest, and was clearly impatient when answering our questions. My husband speaks fluent English and Spanish, so language wasn’t the issue. She simply lacked professionalism and willingness to assist. In the end, we had to rent the boat ourselves through an app.

The only positive points we can highlight are the luggage porter service (the staff member who assisted us was kind and efficient) and the pool itself, which is nice.

Overall, this felt like a three-star hotel, not the four-star experience that was advertised. Most of the staff were polite, except for the receptionist mentioned above, but the overall service and attention to detail were far below expectations, especially considering the price charged.
