Hotel La Giara in Cefalu

As others have stated, the rooms tend to be small and dark and the staff indifferent, even surly. The location is good and the rooftop terrace is wonderful, but I would not recommend this hotel.

Stay anywhere else
The noise in this hotel is unbearable and unfortunately overshadowed everything else. By 1.30am I had tried everything and asked reception about when the noise would stop & was told "no longer than another hour". Completely unacceptable. If you have a rooftop terrace, then after midnight ensure your patrons & staff taking girls up use the elevator and not the stairs past rooms where people are sleeping. It also sounded like furniture being dragged going on in the room mine above until 3am. I asked the booking agent to speak to the hotel about refunding my second night but they refused then hung up on her! I left anyway and the receptionist tried to blame the music from the pub on the the parallel street...sorry but no. Can 100% recommend Pepito Palace the next street over though, amazingly comfortable bed & pillows, and QUIET! If you want your terrace to be a disco,at least mention this on your site so people can make a choice not to book with you.

⸻ Big Disappointment – This Hotel Ruined My Stay in Cefalù I’m not someone who usually leaves negative reviews, but in this case, I simply couldn’t stay silent. I originally booked a standard room. A few days before arrival, I was contacted and told that if I wanted a room with a balcony that wasn’t adapted for people with disabilities, I’d need to pay an extra €10 per night. I agreed – but looking back, it feels like this is just their way of squeezing extra money from guests without being transparent. The room I received was extremely small, and the shower was so tiny it was barely usable. The balcony was pleasant, but that didn’t make up for the sleepless nights. The rooms have no soundproofing. Every night, there was loud noise coming from the rooftop bar, and every morning I was woken up by slamming doors and noisy housekeeping. After two nights without sleep, I had to pack my bags at 3am and request to switch rooms. I was moved to an accessible room on the ground floor – much more spacious and quieter – where I could finally get some rest. But even there, I was woken at 7am by loud renovation work. To make matters worse, instead of offering compensation or even an apology, the owner asked me to pay the balcony surcharge for all three nights – even though on the third night I moved out of that room in the middle of the night. Naturally, I refused. Breakfast was also disappointing: powdered juices, reheated frozen croissants, machine-made coffee, and a waitress who seemed irritated by the very presence of guests. The only positives? The location is central, close to the marina beach, and the rooftop bar has a lovely sunset view. But none of that justifies the overall experience. All of this would be disappointing at any price – but especially at the high price they charge, which is simply not justified by the room quality, service, or overall experience. Bottom line: Avoid this hotel. There’s no peace – day or night – the service is poor, and their way of handling guests is simply unacceptable. There are plenty of better places to stay in Cefalù – look elsewhere.

Worst place we’ve stayed in Italy.

The rooms are so dirty here. You can’t even walk bare foot without getting everything stuck to your feet. The shower is gross. There’s been no care to update and maintain the place.

My husband and I are on our honeymoon and they gave us a room with 2 single beds.. they’re a lot smaller than a single and the beds are rock hard!

This is more like a party hotel than anything. I had to ask them to turn the music down on the first night at 11:00pm so we could sleep and they said we might have to wait an hour.. but they eventually did. This hotel is incredibly noisy, morning and night! You can hear everything!

The breakfast isn’t good either, incredibly dirty cutlery..

The only good thing about this place is the location and split system aircon. That’s about all it has going for it..
