Hotel La Playa Blanca in Santo Stefano di Camastra

We booked an accessible hotel (due to my disability) with a restaurant, evening entertainment and a choice of pools. What we got was a nightmare for me. The restaurant was closed except for breakfast. To buy food elsewhere we needed a car. The parking was about quarter of a mile away (due to drainage works) along a rubble path. Along the path, we had to cross a couple of planks over a 4 foot drop. There were steps to the rooms, steps to the breakfast location; even a step in our bathroom to get to the toilet and shower.

Not only was there no entertainment, archery or any of the other activities listed, most of the outdoor lights didn't work or weren't turned on at night. Getting to the car was completely in the dark so I ended up with fall injuries on the rubble pathway.

The only pool was so green when we arrived that it had to be drained, washed and refilled, taking a few days. Safety railing had completely rusted away leaving dangerous fall areas. Steps to the beach were seriously unsafe with some steps and railings missing. The 'beach' was mostly bits of stone, rubble and metal that had fallen off the hotel complex.

When a fellow guest confronted the owner about an issue, he just said 'not my problem'. Apparently serving moldy food for breakfast is acceptable.

Sadly, this was probably a great hotel once. Now it is unsafe, inaccessible and a complete wreck. It needs investment but seems that the latest owner is just running it into the ground for quick profit.

In essence, I strongly suggest avoiding this dangerous dump until considerable renovations have taken place.

This is a terrible very basic hotel that should be classified as less than 2 star. The decor is very bad and in need of total refurbishment. The restaurant and bar were closed and the nearest restaurant was nearly 1.5km away up a steep hill along an unmade road. We were offered a car ride one way for €20. The description of this hotel bears no relationship to the facts. Do not stay here.

We had arrived on the 7th of October to be welcomed by road works that you aren’t informed about or given any place to put your car you’ve hired, you’ve to park it on the same road as the road works take place and it is a dirt track basically and you have to lug your luggage through this. The staff are welcoming but don’t speak a lot of English so it is a lot of miscommunication, the room was supposed to have a sea view which you had to look around a corner to see, the sockets in one room were sparking and another was just a open plug in the wall with no covering around it, there was no sockets beside the beds like stated in the other room, the fridge was forming a pool of water around it which is an electrical hazard, along with the above stated the kettle was full of lime. There was a hole in the bathroom wall, the television didn’t work, and also majority of the appliances in the bathroom were rusting. In the main bedroom there was nails etc sticking out of walls which is a hazard. The false advertising should be stopped as it makes people without transportation stuck in this remote location with very little around, we had to check out early as we didn’t feel comfortable in this hotel and hope this doesn’t keep happening to people in the near and upcoming future.

Love holidays are selling a product that does not exist!!!!! Hardly any of the facilities are there!! It is a total rip off and a scam. I am making an in depth complaint, there is too much to describe on this review. Basically none of the facilities are there as advertised by love holidays. We were left hungry, cut off and depressed as were other guests. Phoned the emergency helpline for love love holidays but they refused to help us!!!! Totally in breach of false advertising and will take it further if not resolved Do not go there!!!!! This was our first time booking with love holidays and thought we were being sent to a trusted hotel, it turned out to be a NIGHTMARE!

We did NOT stay here as it was disgusting. There was no toilet seat in the ladies toilet. The pool was green & you definitely wouldn’t have risked going in it. There was 1 member of staff serving drink but the owner/receptionist wasn’t even available. In talking to other guests (bless them! They were stuck there for a week!) there was no hot foot available & it’s a very long walk back up (very very steep!!) into town for food. Until the owner is prepared to spend some time/money on this property I would avoid like the plague. The whole road leading to the hotel was under construction also that we hadn’t been warned about so had to abandon our car and drag our cases along an unmade road. The list goes on…. I am just glad we were only booked in for 1 night as they wouldn’t cancel our booking either.

- due to road work no access to hotel by car but got help from stuff - receptionist looked to be drunken - hotel very close to train tracks with all the noice - pool was green and filthy - rooms are not better than the pool but had nice view from balcony - stinky bathroom (sewage) and room was flooded in insecticides (got headache) - hard and crunchy bed - everything tired old and filthy - very high room rate for this! We booked and payed two days but left after one night. This place is just disgusting and a scam! - dangerous access to the stone beach (not suitable for a swim)
