Masseria Bannata in Piazza Armerina

What a fantastic setting! It is definitely a beautiful farmhouse oasis complete with walking trails, orchards, vineyards and an incredible pool area for kids and adults alike. Our room, which was an upgrade, was large and comfortable with beautiful character. Breakfast was comprehensive and could be tailored to our tastes. Dinners were sourced locally drawing on products, wines and recipes from the area. They were changed daily and the wait staff was wonderful. Francesca, ‘the manager’ , was there constantly to give wonderful sightseeing advice and local knowledge. From here we easily visited the incredible Roman Villa, the museum in Aidone and the excavated site in Morgantina which really are a must see. Note times for the museum and coordinate with your Morgantina visit. A wonderfully calming stay after many hectic days on the road. Thank you, Francesca.

We LOVED staying here. It is a beautiful property, an oasis of calm. It is a former sheep and horse farm that has been so creatively designed . Every where you look are special interesting details. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Carlo and the whole staff made us feel as if we were welcome guests. The food was delicious. We stayed three nights. It was a good place to day trip . We did the Roman villa one day. We did the Valley of the Temples another day. I highly recommend if you want some sophisticated calm in your sicily vacation.

Beautiful location close to the Villa Romana del Casale....the food was excellent.

This is one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed in. Beautiful design and very friendly staff. Very special place where old and design meet. We had a very nice room with antique furnature and a very modern bath tub in the middle of the room. Loved it. We also loved the food. Don't go out for dinner, they have a really good cook and many homegrown products! The surroundings are beautiful and quiet. Piazza Armerina, a must-see, is very close.

Excellent Sicilian experience. Stunning property, taste and elegance, luxury at very affordable price, cleanliness, good food, fantastic pool, beautiful walks and above all tranquillity. The staff is beyond welcoming, polite, efficient. The owner is a person of taste and elegance. Recommended to anyone visiting Sicily. Would go out of my way to visit again.

This is a charming and gorgeous historic place to stay. Carlos the manager was extremely helpful and polite and we had a delicious dinner and breakfast. The pool is lovely and there is a honesty system for drinks. It feels like staying with friends. A lovely off the beaten track part of Sicily too!

The food, location and hospitality were all delightful. I wish we could have stayed longer in this beautiful setting that was close to several sites we visited. I will also long remember the kind accommodations made to provide me a delicious gluten free dinner with very little notice. It was not expected and one of my favorite dinners during our trip.

Every now and then one comes across a gem that just gets it right from the warm welcome to the ‘goodbye do come again’ and everything in between. An oasis of tranquility and rustic charm combined with modern touches such as the fabulous pool. We stayed in ‘Coco’ room which was previously a stable for donkeys and calves in the late 18th century. Loved it, so comfortable. Another big plus is it’s dog friendly 🐾 and you will be greeted by the lovely Pato. To sum up; the staff are attentive and clearly love what they do, the food was delicious and the garden beautiful and this coupled with the attention to detail is why I’d happily give it 10/10 and hope to return for a longer stay one day.

Our 3 nights at Masseria Bannata was the highlight our month-long trip in Sicily: a truly memorable and unique experience. The SETTING: beautiful and extensive orchards and farmland plus beautiful gardens surrounded by ancient stone walls. Our ROOM--which included a former donkey stable and shepherds' kitchen--was delightful AND comfortable--that's rare! We enjoyed our afternoon spritz on our private patio or at one of the several hidden garden nooks. We had fun exploring and reading in the historic common areas. And, yes, the pool is as inviting as it appears in the photos, especially after a morning of exploring Villa Romana or Morgantina. FOOD: in addition to our wonderful breakfasts, we ate all our dinners at the masseria: each an inspired meal with a greatly appreciated focus on local and organic products. An excellent wine list and all a great value. The PEOPLE: above all, we will always remember the kindness of Nieta, the proprietress, and Carlo who shared stories of the masseria and helped us navigate the surrounding region. Grazie a tutti.
