Nice hotel & Breakfast was really good
10.02.2026 Adam
Absolutely wonderful hotel and a lovely experience! We stayed for a few nights and they upgraded us to a junior suite for free! The room was quiet and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The hotel was spotlessly clean, well air conditioned, and peaceful. The staff were all excellent and happily helped us with local recommendations. They kept our bags for us when we needed it, which was a huge help.

The location of the hotel can’t be beat. The Sant’Elena neighborhood is wonderfully quiet and removed from the intensity of San Marco and the Grand Canal. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with quiet and friendly locals, and plenty of nearby restaurants where the only language we heard spoken was Italian. Further, the hotel is right by a water bus stop- perfect for travelers who want to be near, but not necessarily in, the biggest attractions of Venice.

Overall, this hotel perfectly balances everything we were looking for and was well worth the price. I highly recommend this hotel for travelers looking for a lovely place to rest after a long day, but who still want to be within walking distance of the Arsenal and the heart of Venice. 10/10 would come back!

This property is rated as a four-star hotel, and unfortunately, the service, quality, and overall experience fell well below that standard.

From the first night, we experienced multiple serious issues. Our glass door on the ground floor window would not close and could not be repaired by maintenance. That same night, the power went out in only our room for the entire evening, shutting off all electricity, including the refrigerator, which resulted in spoiled food.

The following day, we encountered repeated problems accessing our room due to a malfunctioning door. We were locked out on more than one occasion, including being left waiting outside in cold conditions for approximately 45 minutes while maintenance worked to open the door. This caused delays and disruption to our plans.

As a result, we were required to change rooms multiple times. The second room had a strong mold smell and was noticeably smaller. While the final room was an improvement over that one, it was still a downgrade from our original accommodation, with a smaller bed and without the garden view and patio we had. This room also had mold in the bathroom shower.

Staff were polite, but the response to these issues did not reflect four-star service. The problems were never fully resolved, and the handling of the situation felt inadequate given the number and severity of disruptions. We were eventually offered points to be given to us on our IHG account that don't even add up to 1/3 of one of the 4 nights of our stay only after asking for compensation for the issues. I don't feel this was enough to cover everything that happened here.

Unfortunately, due to repeated operational failures, lack of service response, loss of time, and overall inconvenience, this stay did not meet four-star expectations. We would not choose to stay here again and cannot recommend it based on our experience. This hotel is close to being a 4 star property but needs to be properly maintained and have service to match those stars.

The overall experience was nice at this hotel.

Location: if you don’t know Venice, this is a bit far from the major attractions. There’s water public transportation options or 15+ minute walks to the more popular spots. If you plan to use the public transport, consider buying the multi day pass.

Rooms: the King suite is nice and well equipped. There are bathrobes, slippers, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, mini fridge with coffee maker and kettle, and two tvs (one in each room). The bathroom has a bidet as per usual in Italy. The space in the bathroom felt a little cramped and there were not enough places to hang your towels. The mattress was too firm unfortunately. There was a sofa bed but we did not open it to see what it was like.

The staff were friendly.

The lobby area leads to the restaurant bar and there you’ll find complimentary water as well. We did not try the breakfast but we did have dinner on our first night. The food was nothing extraordinary but it was tasty. The decor was nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at the deluxe double room. The hotel team does an amazing job at making you feel welcome. Our room was very stylish and very clean. We loved that the location of the hotel was perfect for visiting Biennale and have some peace and quiet after a day out in the centre.
The food and cocktails at the hotel restaurant are delicious!
Side note: no coffee machine in the room, only Nescafe sachets, but they make a great coffee at the bar.

The transportation is very convenient, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

This was such a lovely hotel! As a platinum IHG member, I’ve stayed in a lot of their properties but this is one of my new favorites. The staff were so welcoming at check-in and the bar and restaurant staff were so incredibly friendly. The property has a lovely, modern design for the rooms and bar/restaurant an a beautiful courtyard area.

It’s close to the water bus station (about 2 minutes) if you’d like to take it or a slightly long but lovely walk into town. It’s actually great that the hotel is a little bit away from the main sites as they get extremely busy and you will probably want a break after a long day of sightseeing! The hotel can also arrange private water taxi service that picks up on a side canal about 3 steps from the hotel lobby—which I would recommend—especially to and from the airport.

Although the hotel isn't located on the main island, it's within walking distance of the Venice Biennale and the water bus terminal. The environment, facilities, and service are top-notch. We had dinner and drinks at the hotel on our first night, and the breakfast the next day was also wonderful, meeting our expectations. I hope to stay at Indigo again next time I'm in Venice, and maybe get an upgrade to a room with a better view!

I really liked the location; it was quiet and relaxing, and the room was quite comfortable. However, the service could be improved. One day, the cleaning staff misunderstood and didn't clean the room, and another day, they didn't replenish the bottled water promptly. The service wasn't very proactive, but it was resolved after communication. The breakfast was okay. The biggest drawback was the poor soundproofing; the noise of the neighbors opening and closing their doors was very loud.

I booked a "Boutique Room" at the Hotel Indigo Venice through Ctrip, hoping for twin beds upon check-in, but the front desk assigned me a double room. The receptionist, an Italian man with glasses, was the worst receptionist I've encountered in recent years in terms of service attitude and professionalism.

I went downstairs to speak with him again, and he initially said there were no twin rooms available, then changed his tune a few minutes later, saying "there is one," in room 13 on the lowest floor (the reason this room is unoccupied is obvious), and called it an "upgrade." This arrangement made me feel extremely uncomfortable, almost humiliated.

Even more outrageous, Ctrip customer service tried multiple times to contact the hotel to coordinate, but the front desk simply said, "I have no time," refusing to communicate.

After multiple attempts by customer service, we had to make do in room 013 for one night. The next day, my husband wasn't there, and a young receptionist moved us to a much better twin room on the second floor. I'm grateful to this young man for saving our Venice experience.

This room type couldn't be selected on the Ctrip app, yet the hotel blamed me for not specifying it beforehand. As a consumer, do I still need to proactively email the hotel to confirm?

Throughout the entire experience, I felt treated differently, making me wonder if it was because I have an Asian appearance that I encountered such a cold and perfunctory approach.

Although Ctrip customer service (thank you Ctrip customer service representative Song Song!) eventually managed to contact the hotel manager and actively followed up, the entire check-in process left me extremely disappointed, and I have completely lost trust in the Indigo brand.
