SCAM WARNING ⚠️ Antico Capon, Venice
The property was dirty, chaotic, and the staff took no responsibility. There’s no lobby, the front door is broken and unlocked, and anyone can walk in. To get the key, you wait outside until a man appears from nowhere, walks you upstairs, hands you the key, and disappears.

We dropped our bags and headed out for the evening, unaware that we would not spend even one night there.
The shower was a thin dribble of water, enough pressure to rinse your hands, certainly not enough to wash your hair. Fine, we told ourselves. Budget hotel.
Until we discovered a bedbug strolling across the wall beside the bed.

We immediately packed and texted the “owner.” Then we waited outside to return the keys and ask for a refund. Same guy appeared again. Blunt face, no surprise at our discovery.
When we asked for a refund (we had booked five nights and hadn’t stayed even one), he rudely insisted on “seeing” the bug, then tried to upsell us another “best” room in a different building (which also has bad reviews online, as we confirmed). After a pointless argument, he claimed his “boss” said to accept our request but that we should submit a refund via Booking and return the next day to collect our city tax.
We found a new place, washed all our clothes just in case, and soon realized all his promises were empty. No response to our refund request.
Then the supposed “owner” claimed Booking had never contacted them, even though the platform confirmed otherwise. Calls and texts went unanswered. When we returned to the property, no one was there, until the same man reappeared to check in new guests. Suddenly, he was “just an employee,” and his boss “was just a student,” that’s was why he hadn’t replied for two days.

While telling us all this, he casually carried a trash bag from the so-called hotel straight to the street bin. We tried to understand why he wouldn’t accept the claim online, if that was what he told us to do. No explanation. The man dodged, deflected, made a call, and offered another empty promise. He told us to return the next day at 4 p.m. to meet “the boss” face to face. Of course, no one appeared. No replies. No refund. An accumulation of contradictions, not to say lies.

We have now reported the case to European Consumer authorities and escalated it with Booking.com.
If we could give zero stars, we would. STAY AWAY.

great staff, good location, rooms good for the price, small bathroom, questionable design choices

Location is great, close to the car parking (San Marco garage) or train station. The room floor we had is not level (all these buildings are very old). In American opinion, this would rate low... But the location is so good.. the room does not have AC & the heat is a radiator... but it does have a ceiling fan. All rooms are upstairs at least one flight. There is no television or entertainment. We were hardly in the room so none of that mattered... It was in the 50°s so the room was cold, we could have used a blanket, and they use flat sheets on the bottom which would not stay on the bed. The bed had no mattress cover. Just wanted to be honest so you know what to expect. But the location was worth it all!

Absolutely terrible, got order wrong which is forgivable but then totally rude to us, then when correct meal came seemed to make the effort to make dish as poorly as possible, chicken under cooked, sent it back and went home hungry,. Go somewhere else please 🙏

This review is for the restaurant, which they should separate from the hotel listing. My friends and I visited this restaurant on a whim later in the evening. We wanted desert, one entree, and some drinks while we chatted. Upon sharing this with the waiter (balding/short hair older man) he told me "You are at a restaurant, and you want to just get desert?" I said "Yes, is that a problem?" and he proceeded to scoff at me and mutter under his breath, and begrudgingly took our order. Furthermore, this is not a fine dining establishment, and there were plenty of empty tables, so I would have thought that taking my money in whatever capacity would suffice for this business. The absolute abhorrent attitude I received from the wait staff the remainder of the evening really soured the mood from a good day. In addition, the quality of the pasta my friend received was below par for Italian standards. There was far too much sauce which was bland overall, and they even provided dried parmesan flakes that looked straight out of a Kraft container. Probably the least authentic food we had on the trip so far. Additionally, they charge us a cover charge here, which was the only time in Venice that I saw that on my bill. Just a terrible experience, and with the quantity of options in the city you can do much better just by throwing a dart at Google maps. Go elsewhere.

Was only here for food but it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Tried the pizza pugliese as I never heard of this one and was not disappointed. Tasted great with a red vino de la casa. And you have a nice view on campo santa margherita.
