I've had a super relaxing few days in the hotel, a brief visit just before Christmas. The rooms are big and the beds even bigger and wonderfully comfortable. The complimentary items are plentiful and a nice treat. The hotel is very clean and maintained very well, with high quality features. Sky TV is a welcome addition. The breakfast is varied and caters for all tastes and is served in a room, which I suspect was once a glamorous ballroom, but it is a little tired now but still welcoming. The foyer and bar is impressive, relaxing and encompasses many historic artifacts, which adds to the atmosphere. The staff were professional and helpful, which is always welcome as a solo female traveller. The hotel is in walking distance of the old city, which is spectacular, however a main road runs alongside and numerous crossings have to be navigated to access the ancient attractions. Walking down to the old city was fine in the day, however at night I would advise a taxi. I feel that the general area is being affected by gangs of males, of multi national ethnic groups, all trying to exert dominance. I for one as a solo traveller was scared at night, I despised one group, who found it acceptable to keep spitting (near my feet) without any thoughts of politeness. Avoid McDonald's like the plague! What a shame! I never saw a police officer in four days !!! This however is not a reflection of the hotel. I booked a single room and got basically a queen bed suite.

Good experience

Had a very warm welcome. The hotel is a little dated, but was clean. Super friendly and helpful staff and a very large continental breakfast. There were cute tiny olive oil bottles, which was very appreciated. The coffee is a self-serve machine and there was canteen serve for all manner of hot foods, lots of bakery variety. I really enjoyed my one night stay after missing a flight at Verona airport. The staff helped me plan a really fun day until my flight the next day, they stored my luggage, while I went to see the sights. The most beautiful square in the world, dantes statue, Romeo and Juliets balcony, the castle, the river, the amphitheatre and I was lucky to find a wonderful festive market. A wonderful night and day in Verona. I went to the gusti gardens which absolutely wonderful highlight of my day.

I think this place might have been nice in the 90s… it’s now dated, in a bad location (felt unsafe in the area on foot), and not particularly helpful staff. Front door was hanging off when we arrived and only one lift worked.
Ended up booking a different hotel, and staff refused to provide any refund on our unused nights.

Nice place to say. No complaints

Rooms were great and the staff too. Close to the Verona train station. But a 20min walk to the main proper. And weirdly, my room was very dusty. So I was sneezing non stop. Not sound proof too. Could hear entire conversation of the room next to me.

Lovely spot. 4 km walk from train station. Room and bathroom were great. Breakfast was soo worth it. Staff spoke great English and were very helpful.

Good hotel for the price, but staff refused to offer early check-in (even if it was only 1 hour early) and said it costs 50€.
Also, there are no plugs near the beds!

Booked a three night stay, at the beginning of November, and chose this hotel due to the close proximity to the train station. It is advertised as being 200 metres away, and probably is, as the crow flies, across a very busy dual carriage way, with no pedestrian crossings, but in reality it is about 800 metres, but this was not a big deal.

The bed was at least a Super King and was super-comfy, and the room was spacious.

I would say that the hotel might have been a 4* standard when it was built (1990 I think), however by today's standard, I would rate it as a 3*.

The biggest issue was that the hotel was extremely warm, and I was advised that there was no option of air conditioning, as the hotel only has one generator, and so in the late Autumn and winter months, they opt to have heating. As a result, we had to open the windows at night time, and as a result, mosquitos entered the room and I was bitten all over. After five days, the irritation has almost subsided.

The buffet breakfast was ample, but lacking authentic Italian produce (the cherry tomatoes were flavourless) and the trough of scrambled eggs were so over-cooked, they were almost like rubber. Specific breakfast, e.g. omelettes could be ordered, but only available for extra cost. I have never known this before.

The bar tender did not have a clue about cocktails, and I had to advise him, and show him where certain spirits were on the shelf. Not his fault, just poor training.

One of the worst things, albeit on the face of it minor, was that in the room there were paper cups, for the tea and coffee. In my 40-years of staying in a range of accommodation, from the highest level hotels, to the cheapest bed and breakfast places, I have never encountered this. Not to have proper cups/mugs is really quite shameful, and is a very poor reflection on a hotel, purporting to be a 4*. I would suggest that whoever has made this commercial decision, has made a very poor one.

*A shout out to Maria on reception, who was very helpful before our arrival, in recommending where to go, and also the lovely smiley Precious, welcoming us each morning to breakfast.

We were a party of 4 staying in Hotel Leon d'Oro. Great hotel and ticked all the boxes for us. We included breakfast in our 4 night stay, which was varied, plentiful and delicious. We ate in the hotel restaurant one of the evenings, again great food and worth a visit.
This hotel is approximately a 15 minute walk to the main Piazza Erbe, and about a 7 minute walk to the bus station and train station. Easily done by us but if you are doing alot of daytime sightseeing, then out again in the evening, it can seem a bit of a walk. However, we would do it all again because the hotel for us was perfect.
All staff were professional and helpful, hotel clean and all bedroom amenities replenished daily, including the towels and sheets changed after only 2 days.
