This is a truly beautiful ski resort, perfect for families. It offers all-inclusive accommodations and activities, saving you the hassle of traveling back and forth

Separate from the water park, there's a small pool for young children called Aqua Oasis, but it seems to be for babies' first time in a pool, so it's an additional fee, and there's no slide, so it just feels like a regular pool

The food was average, but it's best to think of it as a cafeteria. Dinner reservations are accepted from 5:00 PM, but there's no time limit, so we recommend booking early and enjoying a leisurely meal

Like anywhere else, it can be difficult to get a turn when it's crowded. There were also several small pools and slides that preschoolers could enjoy, and my 2. 5-year-old really enjoyed them

The steep stairs are difficult and dangerous for children and the elderly. Since this is a ski resort, I think it would be better if they had installed something like a lift or escalator

There's a short line for breakfast. Dinner lines may also apply depending on the reservation time. The water park had many long slides, and my second-grader seemed to have a lot of fun

It has been an amazing place to spend with families , kids facilities and ski areas are very close to the compound and have 2 open onsen . They provide free shuttle to downtown echigo -yuzawa station

The hotel's location is excellent, right outside the ski slopes, which is incredibly convenient. The nearest ski resort doesn't have many runs, mostly beginner-friendly, perfect for leisurely and family ski trips

One of the nicest hotels we stayed in Japan. We had stayed in a traditional japanese room with Futon beds with an amazing view, compared to some hotels stayed in Tokyo, staff here were so kind, patient and helpful

We had an amazing time at NASPA New Otani — this hotel is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Yuzawa, especially for a winter getaway! The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay, making us feel right at home from check-in to check-out

We had come here to Ski which was wonderful as the resort comes with its own ski garden and lift passes which we were given (so generous and kind thank you!), there is also a lovely onsen onsite for hotel guests to use (free)

Even though this resort may seem like a walk to the train station there is a timely shuttle bus service to and from with lovely staff there to help. Would recommend and definitely would come again!

We arranged our ski gear rental at the hotel ski shop and had a private ski lesson. The ski instructor Simon was great and effective at turning me from first time to confident beginner

The cost was reasonable and similar to other places give or take. We used the hotel courtesy bus daily which was convenient. We had no issues at this hotel. Would like to stay longer next time

As a skier, I really appreciated that the ski shop on the slope offered ski and boot storage, as well as waxing services for a fee. The shuttle bus to the ski resort right down the hill was super convenient

Two issues : walls are very thin and a noisy neighbor can very quickly drive you crazy (experienced during first night) and the blinds are not fully blacked out, leaving early morning lights waking us up (a matter of taste and minor issue)

This is a hotel I'd definitely stay at again. It's super close to Yuzawa Station, just a 3-minute walk away. All the good restaurants in town are basically right around here

We are not allowed to wear our own shoes once we enter the lobby. If we are expected to walk bare feet, maybe the hotel should consider providing guest with indoor slippers

The location of hotel is close to JR station and some ski equipment rental shop. Hotel staff are friendly but some are not able to communicate in English fluently

We r Hongkongers staying for several nights, checked out on 7 Mar 2026, we personally think that this is a great hotel and the price is very good all the "required" facilities / services are there, the outdoor spa, staff help u make up beds everynight, help u make up rooms, there is ski rental very cheap price for hotel guess we ordered both meals (breakfast + dinner), saved us lots of time wondering...

The hotel is a bit older, but it is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. The location is perfect—extremely close to the train station, which makes traveling very convenient. The food and service were outstanding

There are four onsen baths on the 6th and 7th floors, each with both indoor and outdoor pools. The two onsen on the 6th floor even have special medicinal baths, which were so relaxing

It wasn't until October that we finally focused on Echigo-Yuzawa. Searching around the train station, trying to find ski resorts and accommodations suitable for beginners within a limited budget was incredibly difficult

Not the best rooms but a good place to stay if you wanna be right at the ski slopes for a good price. The dinner buffet was amazing they had crab legs breakfast was pretty standard buffet Rooms are Japanese style

The lift is right in front of the hotel, making it a great location for visitors to Iwahara Ski Resort. This time, I only used the restroom, not stayed overnight. But the staff were still very helpful

It snowed heavily while we were there and the staff are super attentive - they asked where we were headed to and suggested for comfort, that we wear the hotel's rain boots as they knew my partner's shoe wasn't waterproof/suitable to walk through the snow

We booked a Japanese-style + private bathroom, which was well maintained, but there were no curtains on the windows, so it was very bright in the morning, and it would be noisy if other guests passed by

Good, let's talk about the service. The only problem is the shared bathroom.

Also, it seemed like the duvet cover hadn't been changed, so there was long hair on it which was disappointing. Also, there was only a toothbrush and a bath towel, and I would have liked a yukata and hand towel as well

However, the walls of my room seemed thin, so I could hear everything from next door, and I couldn't sleep because I was bothered by the coughing from the neighboring room in the middle of the night

Takanoya is a wonderful traditional ryukan style onsen. I highly recommend it. The rooms are clean and well kept, the onsen is hot and private, and the proprietor is thoughtful and generous.

The only downside was that there was only a public bath, and it had private hours, so if you wanted to shower during those hours, you might have to wait a long time

However, my companion was disappointed that the TV in the room only showed online broadcasts and no terrestrial broadcasts. You can watch YouTube and other things freely

The owner would change towels and yukatas for you daily, along with a toothbrush and tooth paste. Overall a great experience here, will definitely look forward to booking again during the winter for the snow experience

There is not elevator here so you have to take stairs up and down for the onsen and to use the washer and dryer, so be prepared for that if you are not accustomed to constantly going up and down stairs

Notably, the flexibility to return at any time after check-in adds to the convenience (just remember the security code). Don't hesitate to ask questions, even if you're not fluent in Japanese

Booked a room here for me and a friend for Fuji Rock festival. The owner is very nice and accommodating and let me know about how the hotel functioned

The room is huge, just a bit tough in the morning because there are no hot water. Please check out on time, the staff came in exactly at 10am

Sadly this trip I ran out of time, so next time when I visit here, Im gonna go 魚沼の里 and 雲洞庵, thanks for the recommendation from the hotel 😉
