Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel, Nikko1 / 30
9.1
Nikko, Chuugushi 2482 🧭 Map
The hotel has an antique charm, reminiscent of an old luxury hotel, and is quite clean and tidy. The only minor issues were the metal room doors, which caused static electricity in winter, and the lake view being a bit obscured by trees, which was a shame. The Japanese breakfast was incredibly rich and exquisite, definitely worth the extra cost.
Everything was comfortable. The hot springs in particular had the best quality. The food was also delicious. The shuttle bus was convenient, and they would provide additional buses if there were a large group.
Located at the innermost part of Lake Chuzenji, this hotel boasts first-class scenery and environment. It features indoor and outdoor hot springs, and offers complimentary coffee and tea from afternoon to evening. Guests can enjoy tranquility while gazing at the lake. The breakfast environment and food are excellent, and a shuttle bus is available to Nikko Station.
The hotel's location, right in front of Nikko Toshogu Shrine and close to Shinkyo Bridge, is excellent! The free hotel tours offered as a special benefit to guests are also fun, making it worth staying at this classic hotel. The food in the main dining room is both special and memorable.
Great hotel, excelent value of money, great onsen, very good breakfast
A nice place to relax and enjoy your vacation. Good hot spring and comfortable environment.

This was my first all-inclusive experience, and after checking in at the front desk, I left my luggage in my room and went up to the first floor to enjoy sparkling wine, beer, and snacks. The hot springs* would have been even better if they'd brought some salt. The room felt a little old, but it was clean and well-maintained. The bath was just the right temperature, and although there was a sauna...
The location is great. We checked in around 2:30pm and were able to check in a little while later, but the lounge was so comfortable that we were able to spend a relaxing and luxurious time sipping beer and poached eggs while looking at the view. The food was served in small bowls, so it was easy to eat. I didn't like the fact that my room was on the parking lot side, but when I opened the window,...
The hotel staffs are friendly and nice. Free alcohol drink from check-in til 10.30pm! The hotel is in the remote area. It might take some time to get there. Overall is great! will visit again!
Considering the price, I felt the quality of the food was not up to par. The breakfast was well thought out and the ingredients were tasty, but dinner was lackluster. The Yonaki noodles at night were tasty, but I thought they were served as cheap Chinese noodles. I visited after the renovation and was curious, but I feel there is still room for improvement.
Truly a hidden gem. The staff were kind. I wish the dinner was a little more luxurious. The drinks are all-you-can-drink and the best.
We stay here for two night. Really enjoy and want to come back. - free bar from 7pm - 10:30 pm - breakfast is very short hour in the morning - have table tennis and dart

Excellent hotel! Highly recommend! Everything was great.
Clean hotel with open-air onsen. Breakfast with a great view of the autumn foliage, even spotted monkeys! Enjoyable relaxing stay. Lobby also has free drinking lounge, superb!! 👍🏼😊 Free shuttle service to Tobu-Nikko station.
The room was better than I expected. I heard it's a historic hotel, so it must have been renovated; it looked quite new. I stayed on the first floor, and the open-air bath was so beautiful—you could step right outside!
We used this as a simplified version of our honeymoon. We were able to relax in a calm atmosphere. We thought it was a little pricey since we were staying over a long weekend, but we were very satisfied with the quality of the hot spring water.
It was my first time using it and overall it was good, but a little old.
A nice hotel just by the lake. The onsen had a beautiful momiji tree and the view from the room was pretty good. We enjoyed our food and had a good rest overall.

The hotel is beautiful, has a great atmosphere, and excellent service, but it's a bit far and not suitable for those without a car. The food was delicious.
The hotel is old, so it feels worn, but the hot springs and food were really good. I plan to come back again.
There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, making it convenient to Yumoto and Lake Chuzenji. The hotel receptionist spoke near-native English, making communication seamless and friendly. The room was spacious, with a large meadow outside the window. At night, I could see many wild deer grazing outside. The food was delicious, and the open-air hot spring was also very nice.
The hotel is in oku nikko which surrounded by nature. If you love nature or snow in winter. This is a perfect place to stay. Outside Onsen also surrounded by snow but unfortunately we cannot see the star that day.
Nice hotel with very friendly staff. You have several activity right outside of the hotel and can take the bus to do some more. The room we had was big and comfortable.
It was fully booked when we stayed there but we didn't feel the crowd. Quiet and peaceful, a great place to stay if you are visiting the Oku-nikko area. Easier to access for those who self drive. Meals are fantastic and very filling, staff are polite and efficient, our Japanese style family room with private bathroom was clean and well furnished, although the bathroom was very small. Very good and friendly service from the hotel staff. Good hot spring bath with both internal bath and external open air bath. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast with many dishes. Wonderful view of the forest, mountains and river from my room.
Beautiful onsen. Every single person working there was really nice and helpful.
I booked this hotel through Trip.com and the pictures of the room I chose included a spa. I got to the hotel and although the room was big, japanese style, it didn't include the spa. The hotel was quite expensive and I was really hoping to relax in the spa. I complained in the reception, but the staff barely spoke English. I got really disappointed as one of the staff members started laughing at my...
The hot spring was just okay, pretty standard. Cleanliness was a major concern for me; the bed sheets felt quite grimy, possibly due to the high humidity. On the bright side, the location was excellent: attractions were within walking distance, and a bus stop right outside made sightseeing incredibly convenient. I might be overthinking it, but both the room I was assigned and the dining spot we were...
While we opted for a room-only plan this time, we would absolutely love to book a stay with breakfast and dinner included on our next visit. Despite it being a room-only booking, the location was superb, and our entire family had a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.

The hotel is great and very convenient, just a two or three-minute walk to the JR station. On the first day, I got bitten by mountain leeches while visiting the World Heritage temple complex. Choosing this hotel for our trip to Nikko was a great decision. The price was perfect for someone on a regular budget. Very kind receptionist and a very calm atmosphere inside the hotel. The capsule was very comfortable and clean! Also there was a bathhouse on the first floor with a hot bath which was especially convenient and very soothing after a adventurous day in the mountains!
My stay at Hotel Famitic Nikko was fantastic, and I'd highly recommend it. The location is perfect for exploring the area – just a 5-minute walk from Nikko station and conveniently situated right opposite a FamilyMart. It's located very close to the Kinu Tateiwa Suspension Bridge. I woke up just before 6am and when I opened the curtains, the morning sun bathed me in a truly divine view. When I opened the door, I was greeted by the sounds of the river flowing and the birds singing, which was very soothing. I took a walk across the suspension bridge and was greeted by Kinuta standing nearby. Another five minutes' walk...
The facilities are old but well-maintained. I thought it was interesting that you could reserve private baths and various entertainment options. Maybe the walls are thin, but I was surprised to hear conversations from outside or the next room. It's nice that the suspension bridge is just a short walk away. The view was amazing.
We stayed as a family of four. We were able to use the hotel's facilities, such as the pool and table tennis, for free, and had a great time. The hotel was very comfortable and well-equipped with amenities such as a buffet, karaoke, and table tennis! It's a lovely hotel and affordable, so I'd love to come back!
The facilities were a little old, but the kids enjoyed playing there. The price is reasonable, so it's a good choice for a family trip with kids.
Honestly, given the low price that provides 2 meals and onsen experiences, I think it is quite good for value, but of course the building is very old and rather broken (although it is still usable). But then, it will take an hour to go to Nikko and the surrounding area isn't interesting to visit, just to stay in this hotel is not a very good option especially if you want to go hiking in Nikko.

It was one of my best hot spring resort experiences in Japan. Everything was perfect. Its hot spring quality was the best. I have enjoyed outdoor hot spring during a snowy early morning, which I couldn’t forget. It was so fascinating experience. Food was great and surroundings were also very beautiful. I would come back here again next summer or fall.
Website stated Dinner and breakfast will be provided But actually the hotel gave you Coupons to buy dinner box in their shop ! They should tell us the arrangement when we booked the hotel so that we could prepare our dinner before Check In ! Also , the hotel even Not provide Ciffre in the morning
A great stay near Nikko. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the hot spring was very relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The surrounding nature was beautiful and peaceful. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant experience and good value for money.
Decent and reasonably priced. They offered microwavable bento boxes since the restaurant was closed for the winter.
The hotel is quite new, and the room is very spacious. We enjoyed soaking in the hot springs at night and strolling along the Onsen street during the day. It's very close to the Yumoto Onsen Ski Resort, which was great as it was mostly locals skiing there. The only downside is that it's a bit far to get to; you have to take the bus and get off at stop number 45.
The place is next to the bus stop at No.45. In winter, there is no food service. You have to eat frozen food. Onsen is good.

The buffet has a wide variety of food, but it seems to be outsourced and pre-made. They've renovated the old facilities, but nothing is wasted and they're environmentally friendly. The water is lukewarm, so I recommend taking a long bath.
The food🍴 was great, the bath was okay, but there was one unfortunate thing I forgot to mention to the front desk. There was a large centipede in my room. I don't like killing things, so I put some insect repellent outside the room.
The breakfast and dinner buffets had a wide variety of options, and the steaks, sashimi, salmon roe, etc. were of high quality and more luxurious than the price would suggest, which was very good. The hot spring and hotel facilities were very old except for the front desk, and the water pressure in the hot spring showers was extremely weak. This hotel is special because everything is handmade. I love that local artists and craft is supported here and would live to see more of that around Japan.
We liked the hotel very much. It surely needs renovation in some areas, but you forget about this, because the hotel service is very good. The Japanese-style room overlooking the valley was nice, and the open-air hot spring was great. If you're driving, I recommend visiting Nikko Toshogu Shrine and then staying overnight at Kinugawa Onsen.
I used to shop more than 20 years ago, but I can't compare with now. First of all, the food portions are standard now, the quality is ordinary. The biggest problem is that we haven't checked out and they want to clean up the room. The service is also ordinary, a little better than Hong Kong, and young people should accept it. But compared to before, there is a gap between heaven and earth
An old hot spring hotel with the famous staircase bridge right next door. The rooms are quite traditional Japanese style. The hot springs are divided into inside and outside. The outdoor area is relatively small but the view is great.
