Nikko, 1640-14 Senoo 🧭 Map
This is a traditional Japanese inn—very clean, with diligent and responsible staff, and incredibly generous meals. The only minor downsides are that coffee service in the morning starts a bit late, and the building itself is somewhat dated.
The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay and made every effort to accommodate our needs. We really enjoyed the food, it was excellent as were all the catering staff.
Great stay at this traditional Japanese hotel! Property is older but clean and kept in good condition. Staff is excellent. They go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of during your stay such as booking your shuttle each morning for drop off / pick-up from town, breakfast and dinner times.
Meals are traditional Japanese
The location is about a 10-minute drive from the station, and a shuttle service is available. The hot spring water is of good quality; however, due to the limited number of rooms, the number of people bathing in the hot spring is usually only in the single digits. The food is plentiful, and the service is attentive. If I visit Nikko again, I would stay here again.
We were glad to stay at Nikko Toshogu Koyoen. Firstly, the service was pleasant and warm-hearted. Our Japanese-style room reservation (dinner + breakfast) was comprised of Kaiseki dinner either! (There was no notice about such a nice option when we booked the room.) The price for one night was quite reasonable (compared to other ryokans nearby). Moreover, it was the only onsen within 5 bus stops from...

A beautiful traditional Onsen ryokan! We had experienced a couple of Onsen ryokans in other big cities in Japan at double the price that are much more ‘resort’ centric. This time we wanted a traditional experience and Iwaiyado Jyuan hit every mark! The Ryokan-Onsen is situated off a very small country road just a short walk from the train stop in Nikko. As you stroll along the quiet country road...
The food was unique and delicious. The service was very attentive.
The environment wasn't new, but it was clean and comfortable. It wasn't crowded, which was very enjoyable.
It's quite a distance by train from Tokyo, taking about 3.5 hours. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the station. It's an older hotel, but it's been renovated, and the rooms and other facilities are quite nice. Dinner was very plentiful, and breakfast was also good. If you don't mind the distance, it's good value for money and worth recommending.
My first time visit to Japan and I was after an authentic Japanese accommodation. I booked a Japanese Style room with futon beds which were very comfortable. The room was beautiful and very clean. My booking also included breakfast and dinner which were always outstanding, beautifully prepared and unique food items. They utilized farm to table dining and the women explained each item served. They provided...
It was an inn where you could enjoy a lot of mountain delicacies. The grilled trout and homemade mountain vegetable dishes brought back memories. I highly recommend this inn.
Not only were the hot springs and the inn itself comfortable and clean, but I was also impressed by the wonderful consideration and hospitality of the staff. In the lounge, you can enjoy free-flowing alcohol (there was red and white sparkling wine, local sake, and whiskey), coffee, juice, and some snacks. After the bath, they even served ice cream, so we were treated to the best possible service. The...

The staff goes above & beyond to make you feel like royalty (something we're not used to haha). There are some snacks, coffee/tea in the lobby. The traditional Ryoken rooms are HUGE and the traditional dinner/breakfast are amazing. From Nikko, you will need to take another short train ride to Kinugawaonsen station, and the hotel will shuttle you from there (or it's a 12 minute walk). The views are...
I was surprised that it went beyond my expectations. The welcome drinks and snacks were awesome. My sister loved the mochi with strawberry. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and relatives.
First-class service, first-class facilities
During my holiday in Japan I wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese hotel and found it here . On arrival I was met outside the hotel by a staff member who welcomed me and brought me into the lobby and introduced me to the reception staff who booked me in and informed me about the public bath and coffee bar area and told me about the hotel . I was then taken up to my room/apartment and showed around...
This hotel was perfect ! The views and service were amazing. Quiet place to relax . Food was very unique and our room was beautiful and very spacious for Japan!!
I stayed overnight during peak autumn leaf season so the hotel area was incredibly beautiful. The staff members don't speak much English but they did their best to communicate and their hospitality was simply superb. The food used a lot of fresh local ingredients and featured many unique dishes. I loved the spacious room with private bath overlooking the lovely valley. This ryokan is more for those...

At the entrance is the world's largest stag beetle 🥳 When it first opened, they even had TV commercials for it. At the entrance there was a swimming pool 🌊, tennis courts 🎾, cycling 🚴♂️, and dance classes 💃 - it was a well-equipped resort 😅 Time has passed since then, and now you often see the camp buses. If you look up, there's no end to it, but if you look down, you'll understand - a camp in a location...
Although the facility may have a sloppy feel to it, the rooms were kept clean and the air conditioning worked well and was comfortable.
I felt soothed by the location, which is surrounded by nature.
It good but just too troblen to come in and out ..
To be honest, the kindness of the owner still remains in my memory. I suddenly decided to stay there during the Obon holiday. The price was reasonable, and I even received a coupon. I was able to stay for just 3,000 yen per night.
It may seem like an old-fashioned place, but I wanted to look back on its history (lol).
I stayed here for a school training camp. As expected, it was extremely dirty, but it was fine for a school training camp.
The manager was a nice person. They also had a cat, which you could occasionally pet. The room was at the top of a steep staircase, and although the inside was old-fashioned, it was kept clean to the minimum. There was also a retro game-style washing machine along the way, which...

I used this hotel when I was traveling! I was told that there were a lot of mites, so I brought medicine just in case, but it wasn't that bad (individual results may vary)! What's more, the food was delicious 😋 The dining room is in a separate building, but it's spacious, so there's nothing to complain about ♪ Would I recommend it?
It's a nice, clean hotel, with very pleasant receptionists who explained everything in detail. The complimentary drinks offer a wide variety. One downside: a man came in the morning, even though it was only 9:40 a.m., asked for directions, and immediately opened the door. Be careful and lock the door from the inside. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, but are the lights bright during mealtimes? It...
It was a very quiet and relaxing place. Breakfast was in the cafeteria next door; the variety was good and the food was delicious, but the facilities were a bit old.
This traditional hot spring inn offers excellent value for money. The first floor features a hot spring bath, a souvenir shop, a lounge, and free coffee and tea. Shinkyo Bridge, two shrines, and one temple are all within walking distance. The inn has parking and is easily accessible by bus.
The location was great.

The food was varied and all delicious, so I was very satisfied.
Being able to bring my dog into the banquet hall was a nice plus.
I was also impressed that there were even cute dog treats provided in the room.
I think this is a wonderful hotel where you can stay safely with your dog.
This was my first time staying at Kinugawa International Hotel during my trip to Kinugawa!
Overall, it was great. I was traveling alone with my two dogs, a toy poodle and a munchkin, and had a comfortable stay. I appreciated the service of taking a commemorative photo upon check-in.

I honestly loved this pet hotel. My dogs enjoyed every bit of it and loved sitting with us while we are. We were surprised how the food was so good. Thank you to the staff for making us feel at home. Sad we had to leave early but we were left with great memories.
I stayed in a Japanese-style room with my dog. My dog is a Labrador. It's hard to stay in a hotel. I'm glad that they allow large dogs. The three dog runs on the website are good for small dogs. But they were not big enough for large dogs. That was disappointing. The food is not particularly expensive, but it's delicious. The entire place was managed by a Japanese elder and a staff personnel.
Although it is evident that the building isn't new, it was not dirty and it provided me with a cosy feeling.

Great service for not much money.
For those who did not come to sit in the room!), But to have an active rest. For a fee, there is dinner 🍲, there is Onsen, and generally clean and comfortable.
This stay at the ryokan was the highlight of my trip in June. I paid for "
Japanese-Style Economy Room with Shared Bathroom" for 5000y total, but as there was no one else, I got to have a large room to myself with a connected bathroom. The best sleep I had in Japan was in that room. The gloomy weather had made my trip difficult, but listening to the rain pitter patter against the window made everything...
Clean accommodation but the shower and bath facilities were very old. The area in our room near the toilet and front door also had unpleasant smells (not sure if it came from the vent from the kitchen). However, we were able to sleep pretty well at night and the service was...
Such a lovely owner! He look like grandpa who take care us all the time.
Lovely place in need of some renovation. The owner was lovely, food absolutely fantastic and room nice. But the building was really aging, noisy pipes, relic of a bathroom and the onsen could really use a deep clean. Overall it was a strange but very enjoyable visit.

Had the best sleep of our trip here thanks to the big cozy room and tatami. Affordable and great location. Don’t expect anything new or fancy - the style of the place is very old, which we loved.
The only advantage is that it is close to Tobu Nikko Station. Turn right after exiting the station and it is about 100 meters away. The disadvantage is that it is old, unacceptably old, and the price is not cheap. I stayed there for one night without even spreading out my luggage, and checked out the next morning.
Hotel is conveniently located near the central train station and bus terminal! The people there were super nice and friendly, I did my laundry but my clothes were still not dried and they allowed me to do another dry cycle overnight FOC. The triple room is HUGE with a separated seating area that overlooks the beautiful scenery. There were floor cushions and a big table in the room. The toilet is also...
The tatami room is quite large and the area is quite good. It is also very clean. It is very close to Nikko Station. It only takes 2-3 minutes to walk out. The price is not high.
This hotel in Nikko is quite good and the location is very good
It's nice and spacious, with the feel of an old-fashioned hotel. There are many restaurants and shops downstairs, and Tobu Nikko Station is opposite, making it convenient to travel.
The management model is relatively retro, and there are access control hours at night. If you don't speak Japanese, it will be a bit difficult to communicate. Overall, it is good and cost-effective.

The room had two futons on tatami mats. Perfect for what we needed. I slept better here than I have in a long time. Very close to the train station. There's a sliding glass door and a screen. We left the glass open and closed the screen all night for airflow. I would highly recommend staying.
Rooms are big and clean, equipped with a fridge and microwave. No yukatas provided. The Japanese style rooms are probably better, our bed was old and dusty.
We were not very impressed with the service since when we asked for recommendations for onsens in the area, we were told to look by ourselves on the internet. Also did not like the phone call in the room to remind us that we had to check out in...
Staff is humble, location is good. Property is comparatively new, room size is bigger than usual. There is a Onsen right next to this hotel. Only drawback is it is on a running road thus you hear vehicles passing by.
Near Kinugawaonsen station. Lawson is just across the train track. Air conditioner Room, very spacious, tatami. There is a microwave oven, small fridge, flat screen TV, hair dryer and a dehumidifier. The bathroom is spacious too.
It’s a humble place to stay and experience Japanese style room. The host was very helpful and tied his best to help us.
We stayed here for two nights and the host generously provide two bottles of mineral water (per day) and set our bed everyday.
Amazing service!
Good value for the money. It's one of the cheapest properties in Nikko, but still the quality is rather good. It's clean, the stuff is extremely helpful, so I'd say it's one of the best choices to stay in Nikko. Excellent, exceeding expectations. The owner was very thoughtful; because of the inconvenient transportation, they would take you to town to buy things when they had time. Breakfast and dinner were also freshly made by hand and were very delicious.
A very nice family-run guesthouse, offering a taste of living in a Japanese country villa during the Showa era – well worth it! The breakfast was excellent and very palatable.
