Great hotel. Lovely service at the front desk. We booked a smoking room as that was the only one available for the 6 of us, but it did not smell too bad of smoke. Lovely big room. The only minus is that it is a long way (1.5km) to walk to Isawa Onsen station. Loved the gardens.

Found the hotel over booking.com and booked a NON-SMOKING room. As we first entered the room, a wave of cold smoke and Alcohol came towards us.

We told the Reception about this and got as reply that the Hotel would be "smoking friendly", only after we told them that there is literally an Ashtray standing in our Room they committed that it's a smoking Room and they can't change us to a non smoking room as they are fully booked.

The offer was to Spray cheap Air refresher into the Room as all other Rooms had the same smell of cold smoke and alcohol. Aircon or Heater is unusable since it will just blow you more nicotine smell into the room as the Aircon is literally brown already from previous customers.
No compensation was made, no offer to make the stay more comfortable.

So if you look for a place where to smoke and drink until you can't stand anymore, book a room there. Otherwise, avoid the hotel as it smells terrible.

Great amenities 😊 especially the tea in the room. Comfy futons.
🛁 tip: go to the bath in the morning, much better view of the misty mountain and town.

The temperature of the hot spring in the large public bath was not too hot and was just right for a comfortable bath. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of stewed dishes and was delicious.

Came with my big family including my ten month old baby. The rooms smelled of cigarettes but were otherwise very nice and comfortable. The public onsen was great, I was only able to enjoy once, but it was good. There is only one open air bath so the switch the men and women's every other day. The breakfast was ok, I've had bigger buffets at smaller hotels so was expecting a bigger selection for it having such a grand hall but it was ok. Would like fresh fruits and more vegan options please 🙏🏻

High cost performance, the room is relatively large, but I booked a garden view room, but I was given a room without a view. There is an open-air hot spring, a private bath, a bed, and a tatami.

I was taken to the station by bus.
The temperature and quality of the hot springs were good. It's hot, but the temperature is high enough for a long bath. After I got up, it stayed slippery forever.
