The hotel is right next to the Banwei Plateau Ski Resort, a ski in and out ski resort. There are many restaurants and bars near the hotel, which is very suitable for friends or families to come and play. There are also parking spaces outside the hotel for self-driving people, which is also very convenient for self-driving tours.

We are a family of 5 and had a large traditional room with a toilet. It was basic but plenty of space and perfect for 2 Adults and 3 boys aged 10-12. I traveled by car to Matsunoyama and Matsudai to tour the rice terraces. There were no business hotels nearby, so I stayed at Ikemoto in Nozawa Onsen. 9,800 yen for a room only is a bit pricey. The Japanese-style room is about 10 tatami mats in size, and the sink and toilet are shared, so I don't think young people would stay there. The accommodation was truly outstanding. The attention to detail in the design of the apartments and in house facilities were exceptional however the reception staff lacked basic training and knowledge which was disappointing.

We had a comfortable spacious room with a view of buildings in the foreground and the mountains with trees changing to autumn colours. It was great having a sitting area with a small table. The hosts were extremely polite and welcoming. They explained all the house rules in detail and kindly recommended great places to eat nearby. The place was spotless, warm, and very comfortable for an overnight stay with my husband and our two kids. We would definitely come back. We would have loved to stay longer, but we had to return to Tokyo right away to catch our flight.

The staff (owner?) was friendly and spoke to us in English. They had a place ready for our luggage before check in so we could go to the Snow Monkey Park first. We enjoyed our traditional stay. The hot spring is very hot! I only stayed in for two minutes.

Stayed while visiting the snow monkeys.  The location was ideal and the food was very good.

While I was there, only one member of staff was manning the front desk as well undertaking other responsibilities around the hotel, but a phone was left at the front desk so you could call when you needed assistance. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and enjoyed the retro-feel. The free drinks and snacks in the lounge area were a nice touch and I loved the outdoor Onsen.

Excellent Ryokan located in the center of Shibu Onsen, right at the bus stop. The hotel is very typical and traditional, run by the Takimoto family. Really lovely location. Best part is the private onsen. Pick up the key for private onsen from reception if it’s there and use for up to 30 mins at a time. Go back again as much as you like. It’s a really really hot spring, but there’s a cold water tap and it’s really tranquil and pretty.

Myoko Onsen, where Kofukan is located, has many abandoned hotels and buildings, and only one restaurant was open. It's easily accessible, just a ten-minute walk from Myoko Kogen Station, and the hot spring water is gentle on the skin, so I'd like to return.

The hotel room was much bigger than expected. The service was excellent and the Japanese breakfast was most tasty. Being so close to the Snow Monkey Park also helped a lot - after spending the day in the cold, it was nice to return to the hotel and warm up.

This is the best hotel for visiting Jigokudani Monkey Park; you can walk there easily. The facilities are a bit dated, but considering I've stayed here multiple times across two generations, it maintains a certain standard. Plus, there's a fantastic indoor heated pool. I've stayed here twice already.

The shuttle service was super convenient, and the location right at the entrance of the Wild Monkey Park is unbeatable. The service was exceptional, and both breakfast and dinner were incredibly generous. So many positives, it's perfect for a short stay.

Prime hotel that has premium facilities, rooms, onsen and service. The hotel provides shuttle to various ski resorts in the Myoko region and has a good breakfast buffet. The buffet dinner is not very good and relatively over priced for what was served.

The rooms were spacious; we booked one Western-style and one Japanese-style room.
