We visited on the second day of a two-night trip to Kamikochi and Mount Norikura.
The food was served in a private room, and the male staff were very attentive. The menu was a delightful kaiseki course. The salt-grilled sweetfish was farmed, but even as a sweetfish fisherman, I found it to be comparable to wild-caught sweetfish, perfectly cooked and paired perfectly with the vinegared watercress. I wanted to order more. My partner raved about the Hida beef sushi. When making the reservation, we requested less marbling in the Hida beef, and they accommodated.

The facility is quite old, but is well-constructed. The lobby on the first floor has a very relaxing atmosphere, and I really enjoyed the complimentary coffee in the morning.

The room was very spacious, and the food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious.

It was mostly self-service, probably because privacy is respected, but the staff were all friendly and I enjoyed chatting with them.

I visited in the middle of summer, but the maximum temperature was below 30°C, so it was very cool and a perfect summer escape.

They also served barley tea after my bath.

I could see the maple leaves from my room and the bath, so I'm sure it would be a beautiful view in the autumn.

There are hardly any places to eat nearby, so I wouldn't recommend staying overnight without meals.

It would be better if there is a locker facility at the hot spring changing area.

The quality of meals are not good as compared with many other historic Japanese Onsen Hotels we have stayed. Location not good and no other facilities except with very small onsen for females and males and its ‘ Open Onsen ‘ both do not have good view plus one message chair for the ‘ back ‘ and one message chair for the ‘ feet ‘ but both machines are outdated! Rooms and Onsens are not well managed as you can see from the pictures. Do not know why it received such a good rating review at the Trip.com as our experience are terribly poor - 1) l booked 2 rooms ( for 5 adults ) at this hotel in September 2023 for my friends and my family. In Oct 2023 we requested 5 adults to eat together at the same table, it took Trip. com more than 7 days to have Trip. com to advise me the hotel will arrange. Between Nov 28, 2023 and Dec 2, 2023 l emailed this hotel 3 times to provide necessary Bus Timetable to Shin Hotaka Ropeway as well as travelling back to Tayayama Bus Center, they never answered. So l had to assist Trip.com Team to refer our request to its Agent but it always took 48 hours to receive Information. Worst experience we have. Therefore do not understand Why it receive such a good rating from the Trip.com website ?

Beautiful and quaint onsen Ryokan located in a small town near the snow capped mountains. The hosts and owners are amazing people, the elderly female host came outside to greet us as we pulled in to the car park with the car in the freezing winter! Showed us to our rooms and helped us settle in. In the following morning the other hosts greeted us at the lobby and ushered us to the dining hall which was super cute. There was a small minor earth quake during breakfast and the host came in to assure us everything was ok and not to worry. The region is also known for miso and their miso breakfast was Super interesting and made onsite

A memorable inn. I used it for a trip for two girls in the cold season.
I was able to relax in my room and it was delicious at night and in the morning.
The Yukimi bath and the digging kotatsu are the best.
When I had dinner, I said that the one who carried me had a fireworks display, so I rushed to the bus and participated in the winter fireworks display.

I would definitely like to go to stay again at a very quiet inn that makes me forget my busy days.

A beautiful and welcoming traditional Ryokan run by a friendly Japanese staff. My wife and I considered this one of our best accommodation experiences we ever had! The service was incredible, with attention to every single detail (the owner ran around looking for an umbrella to give us because it was raining outside). The kaiseki meal was amazing too - delicious and authentic! The onsen's view overlooking the mountains and the snow was a dream. I would definitely recommend this charming place to anyone coming to Hida and the Japan Alps.
