Description
Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima is a 4-star hotel established in 1994, known internationally for hosting the G7 Hiroshima Summit. It offers over 500 rooms across various categories, including suites and family rooms, many featuring expansive ocean views of the Seto Inland Sea. The hotel provides a range of services such as a large onsen bath, spa, fitness center, and multiple restaurants including a buffet on the 23rd floor with panoramic views. Rooms are generally clean but some reviews note dated furnishings, especially in club floor rooms. Guests can enjoy amenities like free bike rentals, shuttle service to Hiroshima city center, and an on-site convenience store. While the hotel is praised for its scenic setting and relaxing atmosphere, it is located around 20 minutes from downtown Hiroshima, which some find inconvenient. Pets are not allowed, and breakfast is served buffet style with a choice of Western or Japanese dishes, available for an extra fee.
Location
The hotel is situated in Minami-ku Motoujina-machi 23-1, right by the harbor near Ujin Port, offering direct access to a private pier with speedboat service to nearby islands including Miyajima. It is approximately a 20-minute drive or bus ride from Hiroshima city center. Public transportation options include local buses stopping near the hotel and a free shuttle bus from Hiroshima Station’s Shinkansen exit, which does not require reservations. Although the hotel is somewhat isolated from shops and restaurants, the setting by the water provides quiet surroundings and scenic views. Guests find the location ideal for enjoying sunrise and sunset over the sea and for accessing the island via the nearby ferry.
Tips
- Check the shuttle bus schedule in advance as it does not run frequently and taxis can be costly.
- If you plan to use the onsen or gym, consider booking a room plan that includes these fees to save money.
- For the best experience, request a room with an ocean view and be prepared for some dated room furnishings.

Reviews
Located right by the harbor, the rooms offer a breathtaking ocean view where the sea and sky blend into one—extremely relaxing and peaceful.
The hotel also features a large onsen bath, making it the kind of place you never want to leave once you arrive.
For dinner, I chose to take out a steak bento from the hotel café and enjoyed it slowly back in the room, which was a perfect way to end the day.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing stay.
Breakfast cost 20 USD per person, the food was nice and the view is great but I wouldn’t say it was worth 20 dollars. Massages cost about 100 USD for 60 minutes which as an American I find that pricey.
Rooms were nice and clean, the hotel has a great view of the water and a speed boat Available for selected islands. The staff were all very kind and professional.
Downside is also its best quality which is location. Great for the view but far away from everything else. They also up charge for the restaurants in the building besides one restaurant that’s not in the hotel.
Over all I was happy with the hotel just the location wasn’t ideal for me and my boyfriend
The hotel’s public bath was great, please note that you have to pay an extra, but that extra is only 500¥ if you join the « loyalty program », which we did.
Anyways the extra is totally acceptable since the price of the hotel is very affordable.
There is also a small convenience store in the lobby.
We walked around the island during the sunset, it takes around 40 minutes. It was pleasant.
Highly recommended
Oooof this hotel is tired. Sure the lobby is swanky, flashy, makes you say “oooo” or “wow” like that TikTok sound, but that all rapidly changes once you get to your room.
This hotel is giving resort and cruise ship vibes.
The rooms are seriously dated by at least 50 years. The TV was tiny, we weren’t provided the WiFi details but eventually found them in a black folder. The bathroom is cramped, the bath is a hazard, so steep I nearly rolled my foot getting in it to use the Fischer Price My First Shower. This was a room on the club floor, mind you.
I was hopeful that breakfast was going to save this. WRONG. I’ve never seen a breakfast so sad! The choices were really limited both in variety and amount. I had a choice of two different types of pastries, some bread, boiled fish paste (it literally said this) and chicken, cold potato wedges, rubbery eggs or soup. That was supposed to be the international breakfast. There were limited facilites for tea. The staff threw away the milk we were using for tea without asking first – very wasteful.
The views were beautiful though. Shame it’s so far out of the way from the city centre. Overall, I can’t seriously recommend this hotel. What you pay for and what you get are vastly different. And if you don’t get a club room you’re expected to fork up to use other facilities.
My stay at this hotel was a complete disaster. Despite having a confirmed booking for an additional night, I was abruptly woken up by a staff member named Higashi who claimed I had to check out. This was clearly a mistake on the hotel’s part. Instead of offering an apology, I was forced to change rooms for no reason wasting my time and disrupting my rest.
I requested to speak with a manager. The person who came only spoke Japanese and was unable to assist. I then asked several times for the General Manager’s email address, but the staff kept dodging the request or giving unclear explanations. This place has nothing to do with what one would expect from an “international hotel”. The staff speak very poor English, are untrained, and show no genuine hospitality. Their smiles are forced, the atmosphere is cold and unfriendly, and the overall service is unacceptable. The location is also poor and inconvenient.
Bottom line: I would not recommend this hotel to anyone – neither international travelers nor business guests. If you value professionalism, proper service, or a welcoming environment, stay away.
Gym is extra !!!
