Ikawa Ryokan in Hiroshima

Well located, close to the Peace Park & street car line. The property has conventional & traditional rooms. It also appears to cater groups, lots of school group listings in the lobby from Australia & NZ. I stayed in a ryokan room, which was spacious with a shower over bather & toilet. The futon base could have been a little thicker for these old bones, but it was OK. The laundry facilities were welcomed & at ¥200 (provide your own detergent) for a wash & ¥100 for a dry (30mins) was reasonably priced. Some good little restaurants & bars around the area & easy walking to Peace Park & Hiroshima Castle.

Basic hotel (not really Ryokan), close to a tram station and close to the Genbaku Dome, kinda expensive maybe because the convenience of it's location, the room has a nice tatami and a small tv, it could be bigger compared to the room size and cost, hotel had a sento bath available with limited hours so I didn't had the chance to use it

The staff was exceptional. They graciously made follow-up phone calls relating to a lost mobile phone and assisted us in locating it.

The major negative was the pungent smell in the room. It smelt like cooked cauliflower, which we mitigated by opening the windows and using air freshener.

Hotel with Japanese style room, a first time for me, it's a must. The neighborhood is quite lively.

It’s walkable to Hiroshima Museum, train station.

I was travelling with a group, so I didn't choose it myself. The location is excellent. It is close to the Peace park, a big shopping mall/area and the stop for the streetcar/tram. The is a supermarket and a bakery close by. I stayed in the New Ikawa building. The building has both stairs and an elevator. The rooms are nice and clean. We had a traditional room with futons. There are nog regular chairs or something, but there was a floortable and some cusions. They offered complementary shampoo, bodywash and conditioner. And you could borrow the provided nightshirts. You can ask for the staff not to clean the room and they will leave out clean towels and such. If have problems with getting up or sitting on the floor, this place is not for you. The staff is nice. There is small area where you can sit, but no additional place to eat as you can't use the dinning area or the microwave for your own food. I recommend a stay at this ryokan!

It's in a quiet area close to Peace Park, and the Hiroden station is within walking distance. I stayed here for just one night.
