We stayed for three consecutive nights, and everything was fine until checkout. The lady at the front desk was very patient during check-in! However, at checkout, the front desk called twice before 10 AM. My partner was in the bathroom, and I was packing. As foreigners, we don't understand Japanese at all, so we didn't pick up the phone. Even if we had, we wouldn't have understood anything, which would have been awkward, right? We saw the checkout policy that states an extra 1000 JPY per hour for late checkouts after 10 AM. We just assumed we'd pay the late fee, so we weren't in a hurry and didn't answer the calls. To our surprise, when we went down to check out, the male receptionist had a terrible attitude! He immediately put on a sour face and used a translator to question why we didn't answer the two calls. As a guest, don't I have the right to answer or not? Do you need to interrogate me like that, as if he thought we'd argue and not pay, or like we owed him money? My boyfriend then told him we would pay the late fee, and his attitude immediately did a 180-degree turn. It was truly speechless. I was originally going to leave a good review, but because of this male receptionist, I don't even want to give two stars.
