This is a traditional, large-scale hot spring ryokan.
I've been to many hot spring ryokans, and most of them felt deserted with few staff and many foreign guests. However, this ryokan had plenty of staff, and they were very attentive with both greetings and farewells.
The baths were spacious, and the changing rooms were cleaned frequently. The unlimited use of bath towels was a fantastic service for us, as we love to soak multiple times. The view from our room, with the calm sea and beautiful sunset, was absolutely stunning. The meal service system was new to us and a bit confusing at first, but it turned out to be very convenient for our family, as we all eat different amounts.
Finally, I must mention that we stayed here about 15 years ago when my late father was battling an illness. Being able to come back with my now-grown children and reminisce about those memories was truly special. The ryokan is just as wonderful now as it was then.
Thank you for everything.
The ryokan is very large and even has a bowling alley, which our children thoroughly enjoyed.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Kashikojima Hojoen. The Japanese-style hospitality was exceptional from start to finish. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, and the dinner was absolutely fantastic — a full Japanese-style meal experience that was both refined and satisfying.
The facilities are reasonably maintained, and the highlight for us was the outdoor onsen — incredibly relaxing, peaceful, and enjoyable. We loved every moment of our stay and would highly recommend this ryokan/resort to anyone visiting the Ise–Shima area for a true Japanese experience.

I enjoyed my stay, particularly the room and bath with views of Arakawa Bay.

The view from the inn was amazing. The quality of the hot spring was also excellent.
Dinner was lavish and delicious. However, although there was a description of the dishes on the table, they weren't brought out in the correct order towards the end, which was disappointing as I didn't know what I was eating and it took half the enjoyment out of the meal. I also noticed the staff tidying up around me even though I was waiting for the food to be served.
I was also put off by the dust that had accumulated on the lid of the teacup in my room.

The hotel was spacious, and the staff were friendly. The Japanese-style room was clean, tastefully decorated, and offered a beautiful view of the ocean. The onsen facilities were excellent—especially the outdoor bath, which provided a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast were wonderful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

When I took a bath in the open-air bath at night, it was a full moon.
There was almost no light in the scenery other than the moonlight,
and only the moonlight shone on the surface of the sea.
It was a mystical view that made me wonder if it was like this in ancient times.

This is an older onsen ryokan with nice views. Both the dinner and breakfast were buffet style, and the quality was quite mediocre. It would have been better to just opt for breakfast and then order a set meal at their restaurant for dinner, as the menu prices didn't seem too expensive. In the evening, I noticed a large clump of feces stuck to the spray nozzle of the bidet in the room... I later had to contact Ctrip customer service to help arrange for hotel staff to come and clean it.

This is an established, somewhat older hotel (not ancient). It's quite large, and you can still see remnants of its 80s and 90s glory days, like the bowling alley. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a lovely view. Both dinner and breakfast were delightful. The hotel also has its own hot spring bathhouse, with indoor, outdoor, and garden-style rotenburo options. It's very close to Kashikojima Station, and there's a shuttle bus service available. Nearby, there's a small fishing village and harbor you can explore, and even take a boat ride. This is a great place to relax, unwind, and get closer to nature. Plus, it's easily accessible by direct train from Nagoya and Osaka.
