Iseebisou in Ibusuki

You can see the grand scenery in front of Iseebisō. Mt. Kaimon stands far away in the ocean. The black rocks prevent rough waves. Actually they are not rocks but lavas which were made when Mt. Kaimon was an active volcano. I walked toward the mountain through the lava’s narrow path…it’s a dynamic natural and poetic experience we cannot have in the daily life. In Edo period, Tadataka Inō who surveyed all over Japan and made the first Japanese map visited here was surprised with this beautiful scenery and sent a compliment. And there is another historical spot in the same city. It’s Bonotsu where Japanese painter Hiroshige painted “Two sward rocks”. Surprisingly French Impressionist Monet copied it and created the different oil painting. However this area is too far away from the airport to visit easily . So tourists are few actually. But it’s also the reason of my recommendation☺️ if you are a natural lover and poetic person who prefer calmness.

It's been 16 years since I last visited. I think the staff have changed, but they provided great customer service. The food, including the live spiny lobster, was also excellent!
