Reviews
The hotel is clean, close to the seafront, at least 3 accessible restaurants with good food in the area, large swimming areas 50m from the hotel! Fresh, tasty and varied breakfast! I highly recommend!
It's not too close to the party and dining area of St Julian's but its not too far away to walk to either. Hotel is a short 2mins walk to the waterfront with a wide footpath that enables you to calmly walk along without being bumped by the many joggers.
Hotel rooms are spacious enough and nicely decorated. Breakfast was included during our stay and there was a decent selection of pastries and local dishes to try. If I ever return to Malta I would choose this place again. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Sliema.
Booked 9 nights here for my wife’s “Special Birthday” at a cost of just under £2,000 for the rooftop room and jacuzzi
Both my wife and I became ill after 4 days and on 7th day found the jacuzzi had turned bright green with algae.
The manager Alessandro Mazzola did not take this at all seriously. I would not speak to him directly but insisted on text so that I have a record. I can make this available.
He says
“Unfortunately the jacuzzi had turned green which unfortunately happenses(sic) when even a small particle of algae gets in the jacuzzi.”
This tells me they have no regime in place for proper chemical management at all!
Jacuzzis are the perfect breeding, ground for bacteria, which cause sickness, diarrhoea, breathing problems, and legionnaires disease!!
Mr Mazzola offered me €50 in compensation as he said the jacuzzi could only not be used for one day and missed the whole point about health risks. I refused his offer.
The hotel, as a whole, is like a brand new dice which has been well used. The sharp edges andcorners are worn away!
Some pics are attached which show neglect and lack of maintenance.
On the positive side the staff (with the exception of Mr Mazzola) are indeed very helpful and friendly and the Breakfast is excellent.
No doubt Mr Mazzola will respond to this post and will try to confuse the problem I had with my back on arriving at the hotel (doctors verdict was lifting heavy weights above my head and sitting in one position too long) Ryanair?

We stayed in a deluxe room. Lots of space, tea and coffee included, balcony, comfortable bed. We weren't disturbed in the night by anything internal or external.
Upon checkout which is at 12 latest they offered to look after our luggage until our airport transportation arrived.
I cannot say anything more about how great our experience was - just top class service and fantastic experience overall. Highly recommended. If we do come to Malta again, we will book AX The Palace without any hesitation.
Superior room with balcony. Amazing hotel and located 10 minutes walk from the sea in almost every direction. Lots to local shops, bars, restaurants nearby. Once by the seafront, you can hop onto the ferry to take you to Valletta, much faster and more scenic than the bus/taxi. Back to the hotel itself, the service from all the staff was amazing every day. Housekeeping went above and beyond cleaning the room, so much so all my toiletries were neatly lined up in the bathroom every morning. Phone charge cables etc all rolled up and put neatly on bedside cabinet. We stayed bed and breakfast. Great variety of hot and cold food, fresh fruit and juices. We asked to be located in the quiet part of the restaurant and without hesitation the table was set up. Every single of member of staff went above and beyond. Will definitely stay again.
At check-in, we upgraded from a Superior Room to the Music Suite for a small additional fee, and it was absolutely worth it. The suite is spacious, bright, and truly unique, featuring two comfortable king-size beds, a large bathroom, drums and a high-quality music sound system, and a large terrace with a jacuzzi and stunning views of the city and Valletta. As a welcome, we received a bottle of champagne and a fruit platter. Housekeeping was excellent, with cleaning twice a day and daily water refills.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Despite arriving before official check-in time, we were offered breakfast on the first day, luggage storage, early room preparation, and access to the pool while waiting.
Breakfast offered a good variety, although it was mostly the same each day. The hotel has several restaurants and a café for lunch and dinner.
There are two pools: a rooftop pool with sea views (not heated during our stay) and an indoor pool with a sauna and steam room, which is smaller than it appears in photos and has a capacity of 18 people. The indoor pool is also shared with guests from AX The Victoria, which could lead to more crowding during the high season, although this was not an issue during our stay.
The location is excellent—on a quiet street, yet within walking distance of public transport, supermarkets, seaside promenades, shopping centers, and stores.
Overall, the hotel met all our expectations. It is comfortable, family-friendly, and ideal for longer stays. We would gladly return and highly recommend it.
I stayed in a deluxe room, which was very comfortable and spacious, with a lovely balcony that I really enjoyed. The location is another big advantage — it’s very convenient and offers easy access to nearby areas.
The only downside was that I visited during the New Year holiday, and the indoor swimming pool was quite small and often busy.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to stay in Sliema.
