Reviews
I checked in for one night after staying in CDMX for 5 nights elsewhere in Polanco with friends. My one friend had a very late flight leaving Mexico City, so she came with me to check in to the hotel and drop off our bags. The front desk staff gave us an extremely hard time about holding her bags for the afternoon. If this were truly a 5 star hotel, that would not have been a problem.
I would recommend staying across the street at NH Hotel, the staff are much friendlier and the hotel is much nicer.
Comfort is the most important aspect of a hotel stay, and this hotel failed completely in that regard. I paid approximately 10,400 MXN for five nights and received no proper attention or amenities. The hotel feels outdated, and the only thing that seems updated is the pricing. I would not recommend Hotel Century Reforma.
As a seasoned traveler who has visited 32 countries and traveling to Mexico for 8 years, I find their policy of charging for guests absolutely ridiculous. I have never encountered this elsewhere in the country.
Regarding the amenities: the 'Martini' served at the bar was undrinkable (see photo).
The room itself was cramped and dark, with a single tiny window and barely enough space for two people to move. To top it off, the mattress was as hard as concrete, and the bathroom and furniture were filthy and in disrepair. Black hair all over the bed. Looks like they haven’t changed the shits.
Please, save your money and stay elsewhere. Mexico City is beautiful. There’s a lot of better places …
The location is great, metro and bus accessible, lots of cafes, restaurants and bars around.
Rooms are super clean but it is in a very busy area and a lot of noises will interrupt your sleep.
Despite the urgency and gravity of the situation, the hotel refused to refund the additional nights we had planned to stay. We weren’t asking for special treatment—just basic compassion and flexibility during a family crisis. Their lack of empathy and unwillingness to work with us added stress to an already traumatic experience.
To make matters worse, the hotel itself is pretty dated. The rooms feel tired, with worn furnishings and a general lack of upkeep that doesn’t match the photos online. We had expected a comfortable and welcoming environment, but instead found ourselves in a space that felt neglected and impersonal.
I hope Century Reforma reconsiders its approach to treating guests in vulnerable situations. Hospitality should be rooted in care—not rigid policies and indifference.
I think the location of this hotel is good. It looks like a busy area, close to Reform Avenue, surrounded by many convenience stores and restaurants, and is located in a relatively beautiful and safe street. The price is also good. In short, it is a very cost-effective hotel.
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
We were a bit skeptical about going in, but decided to do so anyway.
I am a vegetarian, so I am used to eating only salads, when I am in Mexico.
Surprisingly this place had couple of vegetarian options available.
I had a chance to eat couple of dishes.
1) "Arroz de Lentejas" or "rice with lentils : The rice was well cooked, but it was a bit bland. They do offer spicy green salsa, chopped onions and chopped green chilies. Once I added little bit of all these, the rice tasted very nice. I ended up eating two plates instead of one. I would rate it 4 out of 5.
2) Falafel / Falefel : This dish was very nice and I enjoyed it till last byte. They put pieces of falafel/falefel into Pita bread along with chopped veggies and some sauce. After so long, I had a nice experience of eating something vegetarian and tasty in Mexico city. This one definitely gets 5 out of 5.
The friends I went with had few non vegetarian dishes. And they enjoyed it too. General consensus was, we could visit the place more often.
The best part is, the place offers the food at comparatively low prices. For 4 of us, having proper meal, the total bill was around MXN$350.
Things to note:
-They don't accept cards
-Cash only place
-Seating is limited, not very small but average sitting space.
-You might be skeptical about entering the place, but trust me you won't be disappointed.
-Lime water was very good.
-Very near to many office places so easily accessible even by walk
Definitely recommended for small group of people who want to have something nice and something different from routine food, that too at cheaper rates.
