Riad Au 20 Jasmins in Fes

🌍
Morocco, Fes, 11, Derb Zerbtana, Quartier Batha
● Center: 3 km

Guests praise the hotel's quiet and comfortable atmosphere suitable for rest. The building is described as beautiful, with a good terrace and garden area enhancing the stay. Multiple reviews highlight the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The location provides easy access to historic attractions such as Bou Inania Madrasa. Some guests report management and service issues, including overbooking and lack of professionalism. Rooms on upper floors can be uncomfortably hot, even in spring months. Breakfast is considered adequate but not outstanding by some travelers. One review warns of bed bug concerns, though this relates to a nearby property rather than the riad itself.

It is approximately 233 meters from Bou Inania Madrasa, a 14th-century religious school noted for its Marinid architecture. The Dar al-Magana water clock monument is also nearby, within 223 to 246 meters. The riad is about 14 kilometers from Fes Sais International Airport, roughly a 30-minute drive. LeSalaj Restaurant - FezCookingClass is even closer at 55 meters. These nearby amenities offer convenient access to both cultural sites and local cuisine.

Great museum! Quite extensive coverage of historical details + building itself.

What to watch out:
- it is not a typical ‘Arts’ museum. There are no arts per se. I’d call it history & anthropology
- insanely beautiful building! Pure joy looking at zellige’s and the wooden work
- ISIC students get a free exit!
- normal price is 60 MAD

***BED BUG WARNING***

Travellers beware!!!

I recently stayed at Palais Batha in the Medina in Fez, Morocco. Not only was I attacked by bed bugs, but when I reported it to management, they accused me of bring it on their property.

Please save yourself the headaches as there are quite a few better properties around the surrounding blocks.

Amazing amount of information and beautiful artifacts. I also loved the 200 year old garden with its stately specimens. But, they need to put benches opposite the video screens so one can rest one's tired feet while watching. Also, it's a good idea to take some snacks and a drink with you to have midway through, while sitting in the courtyard, to avoid brain overload!! 60 dirham entry fee.

Recommended by a guide and I went with no expectations. It is a newish museum (opened last year) and not many tourists when I visited so you get the whole place to yourself. The signs are in Arabic, English and French which makes it tourist-friendly. Traces the history of Morroco and Islamic arts/culture, the information is easy to digest and interesting. The garden is beautiful and so serene. Great time to visit in mid to late afternoon.

Museum of Islamic art ❤️

The museum is wonderful from the inside. There is a large garden that covers half of the museum’s area, which creates a calm and pleasant atmosphere. Inside, you can find many valuable antiques, traditional clothes finely sewn with gold, beautiful carpets, and rare manuscripts that reflect the rich history of the place. The museum also displays various weapons and silver swords that show the craftsmanship of ancient times. One of the most important and impressive pieces is the decorated copper astrolabe. The environment is very peaceful and relaxing, and I really enjoyed the visit.

Absolutely a must visit while you are in Fez. Located next door to Hotel Batha, this museum provides some insights into the incredibly long history of Morocco, of Fez and it's people. You may have the place to yourself, there were literally more guards than visitors and when you see the artifacts you will know why. The gardens and the courtyards are alone worth the price of admission.

******* rates this Riad as "impressive". Well, they're many impressive riads in Fez, but this is not one. The building is nice and could be a wonderful riad, but it's poorly managed and maintained with a result far worse than in pictures.
It's definitely not a 4 starts hotel, as pretended, rather a B&B. Two people take turns 24 hours, sleeping in the sofas. They do their best, but this is not the kind of service one can expect.
Breakfast is correct, not excellent.
The rooms in the upper floor are too hot, even in April. Those in the terrace level may be hell.
In short, considering the fares, choose another place to stay.

ps. All this lack of professionalism is consistent with the first problem we had with the riad, they overbooked and ask me to cancel the reservation. Only thanks to ******* pressure they accept to keep our booking. Bad idea anyway...

Taken there for dinner (marched!) from our Riad in the Medina. Pleasant staff. Gorgeous building. Food both boring - sadly missing in the spicing one expects from Moroccan food, imagination - one of the most boring meals we had, and incredibly expensive - about 3x most places and at least 59% more than most tourist markups. And when the bill came, not only did they say they didn’t take cards (a lie) but after incredibly inconsistent and not great service - asked for a tip FOUR times. If your Riad takes you here - I suggest they are getting a kick-back at your expense. *AVOID*

Fabulous place to call home in Fès. From top to bottom, the people, the room and the restaurant are all top notch.
Share your experiences, help others make the right choice!

The food is good if not great, but it is reasonably priced. Best of all though, and the reason for coming, is the view. There are two floors of seating with views over the Blue Gate, the medina, and surrounding areas. It's incredible at any time and well worth a visit.

Service is verrrryyyy slow. And drink orders are not right. I asked for a juice with specific ingredients and got something different. Twice.
01.12.2017 Khad
My friends and I had great food and service t this restaurant. I definitely recommend?
05.11.2017 Jonatan
Go here for the view and simply accept the food. The food is not great, nor is it bad. Reasonably priced. The view is great! Entrance is in a little alley and you have to walk the stairs to the top to reach the restaurant.

Amazing view from the rooftop terrace. I didn't have any food so can't go into detail about that, but I ordered a drink and it was okay. But the view alone is worth it
