Staff were extremely kind and helpful. They went above and beyond helping us with buying train and bus tickets etc. The hotel itself is in a great location. Everything you need and not the fluff you dont.

I chose the hotel based on location and didn’t regret my choice! Hotel was small but clean, cozy and well run. Staff who were mostly family members were super nice and I always felt well taken care of. Breakfast was basic, but enough for me. Location was amazing and I could definitely stay here again! Bed was surprisingly good and room had enough space for me. Bathroom had bad lightning but that is a small minus. The hotel has 2 stars which is accurate but in my opinion if the breakfast was any better, the hotel could be a 3 star hotel

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Portuense many times over the past few years. The reasons?... Rates are very reasonable given how close it is to restaurants and places of interest (you can walk to the waterfront). The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the breakfast excellent. In addition the staff are very helpful and accommodating. Hotel Portuense is our 'go to' place to stay when visiting Lisbon. Highly recommended.

This hotel is the best we had in three weeks in Portugal and worth every penny. Very nice, small, clean and quiet family hotel. Lovely staff and good breakfast. The hotel is located in the center of Lisabon with numerous restaurants nearby. Had a lovely week there with my sisters .Gets my best recommendation.

My third Lisbon visit and first time staying in this part of the city. This is a smaller and very clean hotel with a simple aesthetic that is centrally located and close to Avenida de Liberdade. I booked based on walkable location and the reviews, plus the overall value for the hotel category. I also had family staying nearby on the Avenida in a pricier hotel and so this hotel location was convenient for me to meet up with them. You can walk one direction on the hotel's street and the neighborhood gets more crowded and lively; and walk the other direction and it seems more local and quiet. Plenty of food choices are nearby within walking distance. My single bed was very comfortable!! I slept very well! While the windows in my single room did not open (as is characteristic of many hotels), there was an AC unit I used at times (I was there at the beginning of October). Bathroom space is tight, as is typical of smaller European hotels. Continental breakfast available downstairs including fresh coffee. There is also a water/soda vending machine and coffee machine. I believe there were recent updates while fortunately preserving the architectural integrity of the building. I noticed that some rooms have Juliet balconies which adds to the charm. A friendly and helpful staff/team. Professionally run (and I believe by the same family for many years). I always felt welcome! Glad I stayed here.

My wife and I have been travelling to Portugal for over 12 years. Whenever we are in Lisbon we aim to stay at Hotel Portuense. Ok it doesn’t have 5-star rating, but then its rates are very reasonable for a hotel located in the centre of Lisbon. The hotel is very close to restaurants and places of interest (you can walk to the waterfront), rooms are clean, the bed is (very) comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. Furthermore, the management and staff are very hospitable and helpful. It is always a pleasure to stay at Hotel Portuense.

This hotel is in a great location for all the bars and restaurants and is just a block away from all the shops, train station, metros and exploring Lisbon. The hotels family run and is very clean along with the rooms. Breakfast is pretty basic but there is enough to set you up for the day. Bedrooms where very clean and a little small but we spent very little time in the room. I would highly recommend this lovely little hotel.

Great location in the center walking distance for all sites , restaurants and shopping stores. We booked a triple room with breakfast and room was big and clean. Surprisingly the breakfast was very good and varied, for a 2 star hotel and the service was really nice. Its a family business and you can feel how warm and helpful and welcoming the staff is. The only thing missing is the safe box in the room . Definitely will come back ! Very recommended!

The location of the hotel is magnificent. Very friendly, polite, attentive staff. Breakfast is included and is very very rich, great variety.
The rooms are acceptable, it is an old house that has poor soundproofing and the bathroom is very old. For everything else, incredible.
I recommend it. Clean and comfortable rooms.

Super central. They have left our suitcases for us throughout the day without any problem. Do you know how to speak Spanish. We will be back!!!! 😊😊😊🩷🩷🩷

Very nice visually attractive interior. Food is tasty. We recommend the oven baked rabbit with potatoes for two. Personnel is nice and prompt (we ate at mid day). Location is great. Near main food street area.

Except of the great building (you should just go inside and look around) it was a horrible experience. We asked for 2 baskets of bread and some olives, butter and some other stuff - as written in on the menu- as a starter and the waiter told us he "will bring a nice plate for us". After 20min of waiting we asked for the bread and received a "just wait a few minutes". The waiter came with a basket with 9 slices of bread - 3 were end pieces - for 4 people and a normal plate with olives like the couple next to us had. No butter, we had no own plates. So we asked for some olive oil and some salt and some plates and it was no friendly reaction of the waiter. We saw also that other tables got directly their bread and olive oil, so we wondered why we were treated different. He brought us the things we asked for without a word and came with the main courses just 5 min afterwards. So we had no Time to eat the olives and the bread. He cleared the plates for the bread during we used the plates also without a word. And the main courses were not what we expected. The lamb was good but could be served warmer, with fried potatoes you can't do much wrong but the vegetables were just cold. Over all we felt discriminated because the other tables were treated much better than us. Overall the food was just okay but the unfriendly service ruined everything.

Decent food. Service could be improved... We ordered a 2nd bottle of wine, it took a long time for it to be brought to our table. By that time dinner was over and we cancelled the order, yet the server still insisted that we should pay for it despite the fact the bottle had not been opened yet. We did not pay for it in the end, but it was annoying. Bathroom needs an extreme makeover and some serious cleaning.

I just love this place, delicious, affordable food, lovely staff, nice ambient, what's there not to love? Plenty of choices too, great for vegans!

One of the best meals we had in a long time. Great service, friendly staff and a good cook! I wish we had a restaurant like this back home.
If you like banana go for the banana prawn, you won't be disappointed.

Well what can I say? Very good food, good wine, great location right in the middle of town with a fantastic atmosphere some helpful waiters and great people... All in all highly recommended, I'll be sure to return their at some point. Excellent overall

Popular local place with excellent service. The food is great (but the vegan dessert option of orange with mint tastes like dish soap, give that one a miss) and comes quickly. Great ambience being in a beautiful old townhouse.

When I go to The Decadente, I feel at home. Maybe I am a bit decadent. I know place, know the waiters, know the vibe. The service is great (fast, flexible and always with a smile). The menu is nice (not amazingly elaborate but it's tasty and refreshing), it changes often, even though I know that I'm getting that chocolate cake at the end. And the brunch is also amazing. My go to place when I want to go out and feel at home. Good job!

This place is more for the eye than it is for the stomach. The restaurant had a great layout very chill atmosphere, with good service. I had the steak it was good, cooked well. The wine selection was okay could have had a few more options. As for price it was mid range, we spent about 60 euros roughly and got two meals and a bottle of wine no starter. Portions aren't to big but we were satisfied.
