Great location. Staff person made the night. Came up here alone and really enjoyed the conversation

I had to book a last minute hotel in Dublin on a Thursday night. Checked a few of the more budget mid week options and though some of the older reviews of the Abbey made me cautious the more recent one made it sound better than the competition. As it was last minute the only room left was a triple room with three single beds, which was fine for me. I was pretty impressed by the site overall, The hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable, there was a lift and a receptionist onsite. The décor in the room was modern and unobtrusive and the bathroom spotless with a large walk in shower and fan heater. I didn't have any issues with noise from the street (I think I went to bed about 11:30 and slept through soundly (I was facing the front of the hotel). My only minor complaint was that the lead from the kettle didn't reach the power point near it, so I had to improvise and put it on top of the coffee maker (I don't drink coffee and it was 7am and too early to figure out how to use it). The hotel is right in the centre of town, just a block away from the Liffey and from there Temple Bar and a lot of the sites. There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby which open quite early and the street felt fine to be on until quite late.

Hotel right in the center of Dublin, great location. Cozy and very good. I really liked it. There is a Luas station nearby, many bus options, and many restaurants, pubs, and entertainment options.

Having read the previous reviews mostly being a rating of ‘one’ AFTER booking this place our group was very worried about staying here. This was heightened by the fact the taxi driver driving us from the airport also appeared to wince at the thought of us staying here too! HOWEVER! If you want value for money (a place to sleep then shower in the morning) you genuinely can’t go wrong. This place has clearly had a lick of paint, and a revamp with the bathroom being spotless and a Nespresso Coffee machine in the room to use also. We didn’t experience any of the issue listed on the previous reviews whatsoever and this place is such a great and central location to stay. The one and only criticism is that the windows close but not fully so you can still hear everything outside which isn’t ideal. Other than that if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful place to stay in Dublin this is the place for you!

Arrived on Friday afternoon with a group of 9 other lads for a friend's stag weekend. No issues at all initially. Went out for breakfast, leaving a wallet INSIDE MY SUITCASE containing my entire spending money for the weekend -approximately €185.00 After breakfast we returned to the hotel and I found that my wallet of money has disappeared. Did not panic initially as I thought I might have put it somewhere else. After we came back to the hotel in the afternoon, the two friends I was sharing the room with and I turned the room inside out. No sign of missing cash. Both men let me look in their bags [I would not even entertain the idea] despite them both being out of the room with me at breakfast that morning when the cash went missing. Nothing. Reported this initially to the hotel staff as non-accusingly as possible before heading out for the Saturday night. Was told THERE IS NO CCTV IN THE HALLWAYS AND STAIRWELL. Convenient. None of my personal details were taken down (phone #, e-mail address). After returning to Scotland on the Sunday, I phoned the hotel on Tuesday and spoke to the assistant manager who, after I insisted, finally took my contact details and tells me this is the first she's heard of it. Six days pass, contacted the hotel again to be told that management had been informed and all they suggested was going to the police. Not before having the brass neck to accuse me of my "stories not lining up" mind you. (If I was chancing my luck I would try for more than €185, don't you think?) They also insisted that no cleaners had been in any of our party's rooms, despite them having visited my friend's a floor down. How utterly reassuring that was. The 'no CCTV in hallways' factor should be red flag enough to drive you away, but the hotel staff's horrendous handling of a very blatant theft makes this entire establishment suspect. Fair to say this ruined the weekend for myself. Draw your own conclusions from the above. I feel it only points in one direction. Otherwise Dublin is a fantastic city full of hospitable, friendly people, making this entire fiasco that much more sad. Hope whoever completely violated myself by rifling through a suitcase to steal money is proud. Writing this as a student, €185.00 is not exactly an ignorable amount. If you are looking for a place to stay in Dublin; spend a little more, go anywhere else. You may end up saving yourself cash.

This hotel is a pleasant place to stay. The location is perfect. A bit noisy at night but that is to be expected smack in the centre. Clean etc.
22.03.2021 Joanne
The only good thing about it was the location which was fantastic. For the price you pay you don't get much in return. The noise at night is unbearable as the tram line passes in front of the hotel. We tried closing the window but it got too warm in the room. We asked 3 times to get bed sheets so that we don't need to cover up in quilts (the only bedding provided) , they kept telling us no problem but still got no sheets. It didn't feel like any hotel I've been to. The cold water tap in the bath couldn't open as it is fixed too close to the wall which doesn't allow for it to turn, I've never seen anything like it.

Annoying lack of power sockets in the room and strangely the bed had no headboard. But competitively priced and room was pleasant enough for a couple of nights stay. Ideal if you are planning a break and want a comfortable, basic, and affordable hotel.

Really nice food, friendly staff, affordable and good location

Nice and modern interior.
I expected more flavour and spiciness from the food, but got plain kinda-like-mexican food. Plus the waitress clearly was not interested in the clients. You can find better places to eat Mexican food in Dublin. Pricewise it's ok & they have lunch deals.

Food was amazing and such good value for money. Definitely recommend

I didn't enjoy eating here at all. We came here to celebrate my sister's hen do - I didn't feel very taken care of. There were 12 of us, a server came and took drinks for only 4 and then didn't come back to get orders for the rest of us.

The food was extremely oily.

The toilets were unclean. No toilet roll in either cubicle so I had to ask. There was tissue all over the floor that wasn't cleaned up even when they finally replenished the toilet roll. No sanitary towel bin, just an open waste basket you were meant to use.
04.07.2017 Jake
Very standard Mexican fair with little imagination and matching presentation. With an envious spot in the Italian quarter, far more could have been done to make this a viable and exciting offering in a town that is overflowing with burritos and tapas. Too much cheese on the mains and the oil that the fries were cooked in had been multi purpose for a couple of weeks as you could taste everything else that had been in it. The price is not so bad though but still not reflective of what you end up with.

Starbucks much the same as anywhere. Menu for snacks and coffee/drinks as reliable as day to night! Loved the background music; all irish bands and heard U2 song from 80s album War so was delighted!

Friendly staff! Handy meeting point near the Spire for when it rains, so that's pretty much any time that you might want to do that in our wonderful climate! Not sure if this franchise location does Apple Pay, yet? If I find out that it does I'll add an extra star!
16.07.2017 med
been here today, fairly small Starbucks on the corner of oconnel street. there is not place to chill so it's mostly buy and go with your coffee. Probably first coffee place that doesn't have a place to chill. the housing cost bejillion euros for every square micromilimiter so they had to rent something tiny. no opinion on staff. typical Starbucks coffee with extra caffeine that makes you feel sick, even mcdonalds coffee is better and cheaper
18.05.2017 Brendan
Pretty standard Starbucks fair, I stop here almost every morning for a coffee and right before work hours it's never too crazy busy so you can be in and out quick when you need to be.
27.01.2017 Dean
Starbucks is Starbucks. However when I entered the place I had a quick scan to check for seats. There were at least 4/5 free tables. I was 2nd in the queue. By the time I got my coffee all the seats had been taken. It would seem people walk off the street and don't purchase anything but take up a table. A little bit frustrating. Or perhaps I was just unlucky. These things happen.
